I like to work hard, but I want to work some place that enjoys my sense of humor. I want to have a pleasing environment with lots of face paced technology challenges, but where everyone likes to help each other learn and grow.

I'm working "on contract" that is the Mental Health System's version of piecework. I don't have any benefits and the income is unpredictable but...

I don't want to find a job--- I need to find a career!!!
I'm 23, recently graduated college and I'm underemployed. I've been looking for a "big kid" job for 5 months and nothing. Its been very discouraging.

Join the long lines. Any job you find if it is not the perfect one for you means that retirement is just further away. So pick one that is truly the job of your dreams. And secondly, start a home-based business. That will help you reach financial freedom sooner. I have 2, http://www.thewhycircle.com/raemgarcia and http://www.XOWii.myvoffice.com/reymundogarcia
this way you will have numerous tax benefits while you are employed and when your home biz surpasses your job income you can retire!

I'm headed to a job fair for a new bed bath and beyond opening near me. I hope I get a job there!
By stuffness1 on October 14, 2009 at 11:56 AM
I got fired from my lab in grad school in May. I got a job at a summer camp for three weeks this summer. I'm currently working about 8-10 hours a week at my church, but I need to find a job with more hours.
It's hard to find a job, when I haven't worked outside of academia since 2003, but I know I'll find something soon.
Meanwhile, I'm going to put up fliers offering tutoring.

I am 17 years old and I am currently look for my first part time job. I have started the process to get an intern ship at the local vet clinic because that is my future career choice. I was hoping that after my internship I could get a job at the clinic working as a person who takes care of the animals (baths and such) or maybe do some secretarial work.
I think I am also going to apply at some fast food restaurants as well. Hope all goes well and I can get a job soon.

I have an okay job right now, but it isn't enough to support me. I'm planning to go back to college next September and start a career in graphic design. In the mean time I need a job that can offer me decent hours. I can't continue living off a few hundred dollars a month especially since I'm getting married within the next year or two.

Hi all! I recently quit my first job in the television production industry. I've been there for 2 years under horrible working conditions. I got a part-time production assistant job at a local small-market NBC affiliate, but that's not enough to pay the bills. It's taken me more than a month to land even a waitressing job to help make money in the mean time! The restaurant is opening in a month, so I still won't have a good income for that time, but I'm pretty sure I'll be fine with a little help from my parents. I hope to find a full-time position in television soon. It's a tough time for the industry, so openings are limited and very, very competitive. But I have hope that someone will give me a chance because I'm really good at what I do.

i applied to an online blog site, it took 2 hours, and I don't think I'll get it, because I'm young and inexperienced, but if I do, I'd be the best person for the job

Currently employed, but $21 Billion that I helped the company earn last year isn't enough profit, so I will likely be losing my job soon. I work for an American Telecommunications Trap (yes that company) They are calling it "failure to perform" When they keep tightening the numbers more and more each month, of course workers fail. I also notice that most of the people being given notice are union members as well. I have a medical condition so I have to have health insurance, I gave up half my income from a previous job for this. The President of the company makes more in one day, then most of us employess make in a year. Last year he got a $210 Million bonus, we got $200 and a balloon. But the previous job, I was self employed and couldn't afford health insurance. Oh well, God has gotten me through before and I am sure He will do it again.

Unemployed since late March. Never have been laid off before. 6 Resume's out. 3 interviews lately. One I hope I don't get an offer because I would have to take it and I would really hate it. Others are good prospects but its taking forever because there are so many applicants!
By jerseyeire on August 23, 2009 at 03:05 PM
Normally wouldn't reply to one of these but I'm seeing a mirror image here. I was laid off in March, I'm waiting for a couple of answers at the moment, one job I really don't want and one I have contacts and I'm hoping for a good answer. Best of luck
By Anonymous on September 16, 2009 at 11:10 AM
be up front in the interview that you dont think this position is for you. they probably would not make an offer if they know you dont want to work for them

I have been searching for a job since April. Its hard as a recent college grad...no experience...grrr. anyways I have been submitting apps to every opportunity I find. I just applied for an internship for healthy homes. I would help people in the burgh keep their home pollution free. wish me luck!
By Anonymous on August 23, 2009 at 09:09 PM
I wish you the best of luck, as I am also in the exact same boat!

I got the job! It is part time, 2 days a week. It isnt exactly what I want in term of it not being full time...but i am really happy with the job. i am getting experience with testing in home environments for lead, mold, pollen, dust mites, ect. So hopefully it will help me get the job i really need, a full time position with health benefits.
Anyways, I also have another day or 2 a week with my old job. They want to keep my on for as long as they can, but cannot afford me as a full time employee. And I might get another day a week with my old internship with Allegheny General Hospital since they need help with something I specialized in.
This whole juggling 3 part time positions is confusing and with no benefits. VERY FRUSTRATING.... but hopefully something will turn around soon....
