96 this morning. Had a great healthy breakfast. Healthy snacks. And a kick-arse workout.

Numbers have been great. Biggest challenge is going to be the upcoming holidays and eating properly.

This AM it was 140. Working on getting it back to that sub 120 mark. Need to excercise MORE. Little off track w/diet last night.

This was my first obituary ise74 and hopefully it will be my last. So sorry if all the aunts and uncles didn't get mentioned but i didn't know them all. If I hadn't been so grief stricken at the time I would have had them put numerous aunts and uncles including....but frankly i just wanted to die too at the time. I certainly didn't need to be yelled at the day before my moms own visitation. Now if anybody else wants to tell me about what a horrible job I did I have an e-mail seadannie@yahoo.com. Please e-mail me directly and don't use my mothers obituary page to fan the flames of an argument we both know who started.

Not trying to kick you when you are down. I was just putting something out there. Not using your mothers obit to fan any flames. Any problem I had/have with you would have nothing to do with an obituary. It would have to be with some of the incredibly stupid stuff you have done in the past. But that is how I am trying to keep it, in the past. So, I am sorry to have to air out this kind of thing on such a public forum but you opened the can of worms. I am very sorry for your loss, I truly mean that.
Why in the world you would post that here on this site is beyond me. If you are on this site due to having diabetes, then I am glad that you are taking positive steps in changing your health and I hope it works for you.

Blood sugars were good all day. Worked out a little but not as much as I would like due to my mouth hurting and meds kicking me a bit.
Here is something for all. November is American Diabetes Month. In conjunction with this, Walgreens is sponsoring free testing (blood glucose and A1C) at participating 24 hours Walgreens locations. Not only are they doing these tests for free, but for each person tested they are donating $1 to the American Diabetes Association.

Woke up this morning with a sore mouth. Put off eating breakfast past my usual time and when I tested I was at 86. Lower than normal for me in the morning (usually 105 - 117). Hope my mouth gets better soon as this is getting old already. Really want to work out !!!

Eating less (due to removal of wisdom teetg yesterday) but blood glucose level has been good all day. Not being able to exercise (Dr's orders) is difficult though. Think I will sneak in just a little tomorrow.

This past week has been very stressful and the blood sugars have been showing it. Now things are starting to get back on track so I am hoping when I go to have my blood work done this next week that I can show that things are balancing out. I am promising myself to do better in doing my finger sticks, eating healthy again and tracking my food, exercise, blood sugar levels, and weight.

Blood sugar was good all day. Got in a good workout this morning and had fun with the girls coaching basketball practice tonight. Tomorrow I get my wisdom teeth out. Wish me luck.

So I have been a Type 1 diabetic for the last 4 years of my life and I was diagnosed my Freshman year of college. I have been overweight for most of my life and this past summer I want on a business missions trip to Kenya. This trip changed my life but there were many times when my physical body limited me. I am planning on leading a trip this coming summer and have dedicated this year to losing weight and getting healthy.
My first step was getting a trainer and a gym. I have been doing this for almost 2 months and have seen no weight loss. I am working out 6 days a week with 45 to 60 min of cardio and weight training with my trainer 3 days a week. I am getting extremely discouraged. I have really been working on my eating, but nothing seems to work. I am not giving up and will continue with this lifestyle change. If anyone has any suggestions for me I would love feedback and some support.

No matter what or how - you have got to stay motivated and not expect immediate results. One thing that I used to tell myself is, "I accumulated all this fat over a few years. How can I shed it in a week?"
Just stick to it. You are doing great by just sticking to it. Instead of constant weight watching, see how your fitness level is improving daily. I know, results keep us motivated, but please remember that once the results start coming in there will be no stopping them. Don't give up the fight.

Don't give up! You didn't gain the weight in a month so it's not going to come off as fast as you'd like. 2 lbs per week is normal. Also, your medications may cause you to gain weight. You really need your rest as well! Cardio 6x per week is alot. Limit yourself to 2000 cals/day. If you burn more than you consume, you will lose weight. Drink lots of water, try for half of your body weight in ounces. The water will flush out toxins. Avoid soda if possible. Even diet soda has chemicals that cause the body to retain water. Give your body a chance to catch up with all of the positive changes you are making. Good luck!

Don't get discouraged. Along with trying to lose weight, working out as you are, you should be building muscle. You have to remember, muscle weighs more, so I'm sure your losing the weight, but your replacing it with muscle so the scale is reading the same. Either way, you are improving your health. Keep up the good work :)
By ise74 on November 2, 2009 at 08:28 PM
Just continue to exercise regularly and work on eating better. Give it time and the weight will come off. With the training you are doind, you are gaining muscle and sometimes that can outset what the scale says. Focus more on how you feel and how your appearance will start to change.
Just make sure to take care of yourself. I am coming up on my third anniversary of being diagnosed this month. It changed my life in many ways but on a positive note it has made me so much more aware of my health. I have a father-in-law who has had type 1 since he was 8. I hate to say this, but he has been a role model of how not to take care of yourself and I watch him and make sure not to make the same mistakes. November is Diabetes Awareness month so do yourself and others a favor and pass it on.

Got in a great day of exercise. Awesome workout in the morning and coached basketball for an hour this evening. Even ran with the team (sprints and suicides) with the team. Blood sugars were great all day as well.

fasting blood sugar is 207, not good but still recovering from being sick. Hopefully before lunch and dinner numbers will be good.

Sick with the flu and when I am sick my blood sugar tends to rise even when I don't eat.
