Reduce your waist size by exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet. Belly fat can increase your risk for heart disease, so a trim and toned stomach can make you healthier!

My waist is letting down my whole figure. I now have my trainer and best friend to help me work this out. Bring it on!
I've been trying to reduce my waist forever....sigh i really need encouragement I'm beginning to feel hopeless
I'm not sure what the measurement is now, but I found out today that despite my weight being roughly constant I've gone down a jean size! (That's a good 2" off my belly!) This was tremendously encouraging, and I'm going to rely far less on the scale and more on how I feel. Congrats to every who's had success so far, and for those who haven't don't give up!!!! We can all become the healthier, thinner and sexier people we want to be! Do it to it!
Yeah, the scale can muck around with you. That's why this time around I am not aiming to weigh myself once a week, but much more often. It was weird to see it bounce around 2-3 pounds sometimes from one morning to the next, but I've trained myself out of the freak outs about that and can now see the bouncy line with the TREND going down. Jeans are pretty unforgiving (especially freshly-washed), so that's a great indicator for progress. Stick with what works for you!
Starting with a 29" waist, 34" upper hips and 39" butt. Want to get down to a 28" waist and 33" upper hips (no more muffin tops!)
I have been trying to slim back down to fit into old jeans and then some, but the fact that I am going to the beach in 9 WEEKS is really putting the pressure on! I have given up with the scale and just focused on measurements and %Body Fat, and that seems to work. So far I have lost a total of 2.25", but from here my goal is to lose a total of 11 inches: 4.5 from my belly, 4.5 from my hips, and 2 from my waist.
I'm excited, and can't wait to be lying comfortably in my bikini on that beach!!
Taking a risk at sharing my thoughts/goals with someone for the 1st time on a an internet forum. Excited, yet scared, hope to get much support. Thanks.
Hope you're finding some support and encouragement here. Congrats on taking the plunge and sharing some of yourself here with others who are working toward some of the same goals.
Have a great weekend!
hey! me too... good luck!
lol... well this is my first post, as well as first dare!
im new and afraid, but ready to make a change! i cant wait to support others and get some myself!
Began (02/21/12) with a waist size of 43/44. I have lost 20 pounds using MYPlateover the last 11 weeks. My waist is now 41. I can fit into my 40 waist trousers and have even squeezed into my 38's
My weight goal is 180 pounds (from 222) and my waist goal is 34.5 inches that is the ratio of 1:.5 or height to waist which is a newly suggested healthy ratio.
I have cut out all white breads and do not eat cakes but still eat some white pasta. I keep my carbs at under 45 g per meal and never eat a carb without a protein . Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks
Sounds like you're doing great! The plan I followed when I initally lost my weight was very similar - especially the combining carb with protein and dropping the most unhealthy carbs. Unfortunately, I stopped the plan ahd now have added back close to 6 inches in the waist and close to 25 pounds total - yuck!
My favorite thought is from the Biggest Loser Gym: "Stand up and finish what you started."
I just moved to size 32 pants down from 34 down from 36 in the last year. The 32s are snug, but wearable. I want them to be loose.
Currently, at my navel I'm 36"
For the first time, my body fat % is in the "lean" range 23.8%
Since March 31, I have dropped fat and gained lean weight for a total weight loss of 5 pounds. And my waist is finally starting to show a change.
HURRAH! (and thank you LiveStrong.com)
Congrats, that's a big accomplishment!
I really want to work on my waist measurement, but I'm moving tomorrow, and everything is packed. I have no idea where my measuring tape went :( Hopefully once I get unpacked I can find it and start this challenge! My 10 year class reunion is in August, and I would love to be down to a size 9/10 at least (from 15/16). A few years ago I lost 30 pounds in 3 months, which felt amazing, but I got shin splints that turned into stress fractures, and quit working out, and then put all that weight back on. Note to self: don't push as hard as that time, I might meet my goal next time!
If you can't find your tape measure right away, one of your more uncomfortable pairs of pants should work too, as you progress.

Two years ago I developed hormone problems that caused my weight to go ballistic. From a whip-thin fast-old-guy cyclist whose 30" jeans hung off me I deteriorated over 12 months into an inert schlub with 40"waist and 30.0 BMI.
After a year of experimentation with a good endocrinologist I'm on a regimen of hormonal supplements and have achieved the right balance. So as of today, Memorial Day 2012, my goal is to be back in those 30" jeans on Memorial Day 2013. I will do this on a juicer-and-raw-produce diet (with carefully selected meats and fish), and by re-immersing myself in the sport that changed my life.
Not a lot of people can get rid of a 10" spare tire that makes the simplest task – like getting up from a chair – an exercise in misery. Could you?
