I let go of frustration on my slow, rainy drive to work. I kept smiling and thinking - I will get there. I will get there safe.

I have a small area at the one end of our dining room where we have our computer and I made myself a seating area with a really cozy love seat and a lamp and nice end tables... I need to start relaxing down there for 10 min a day... burn some insense and kick back. Today my relaxation however is going to take place in an MRI machine... which I will be in for 2 hours for a brain scan... lucky me.

Today is a fresh start.

So I fell off the ladder today trying to put a screw in the wall, so now I'm going to relax the rest of the day (ice on knee). :)

My method of relaxation today was signing up for this website! I work full time, have a part time business, just signed up for Chemistry (night school) and have a full time boyfriend! Needless to say, my health and fitness have taken a sideline... Oh yeah, did I mention that I'm remodeling a house (myself)? I have 3 saws in my living room and all of my furniture in storage. I need a break! :)

Today I decided not to go to school and keep on sleeping... Afterwards, I went for a walk with my dog and spent an hour lying near the riverside..

Hey everyone..new to the dare, and like all of you - I CAN'T relax. I am anxious all the time (signed up for the try to reduce anxiety dare, too) and constantly feel like "something bad is going to happen". I'm constantly worried about things happening to my loved ones, too. I am so on edge all the time, sometimes it's hard to function at work. I get this from my Mother, who is hardly ever happy. She always has to have some sort of "issue" in our family. And it definitely fell to me too. I try to be happy and just have a relaxing day...but it's so hard when you grew up around it for nearly 25 years.

I understand the first step it except that things always be out of control. there is nothing you can control in life but your thoughts. Of course I have learned this the hard way. The only 2 things that are gurantee are death and taxes. Stop worrying about everything u can not control and start to enjoy life

not yet but I am planning later tonight

I am trying to learn how to relax without smoking...and am accomplishing it.

went for a bike ride last night, and when I got back a bunch of kids from the neighborhood were playing, so I joined in.

I want to relax but my mind constantly race. I tried music but I still have to do something yesterday I played solitaire all day. Reading used to help but my mind is drifting. I am unhappy in my relationship. My partner of 12 years is sick but he is mean because of it. I don't want to walk out on him, but when he comes back from dialysis I don't know what to expect and I'm on edge.

By dessalyn on August 12, 2009 at 11:23 AM

Is there anyway you can communicate that to him? I know that sounds terrible--"hey honey, I know you're sick but you're mean" is not an easy conversation to have.

What if you asked him when he gets back from dialysis what he needs. Maybe he needs time alone, time to vent, time to be. That way you can know what to expect.

Also, his illness is NOT an excuse to be mean to you, and you have every right to tell him that you feel on edge when he comes back from dialysis.

Let me know how it goes, ok? Wishing you peace....
