So I am a new mother. my daughter is 9 months old and I have yet to get rid of the last 30 pounds of my 70 lb weight gain. it is so frustrating to see your friends drop so much weight right after having a baby and here i am almost 30 years old and struggling!! Ahhh! I am counting calories and trying to do everything. any suggestions from some moms out there? I feel my body will never be back to where it was and it is hard to be intimate with my husband when i feel so freaking gross! (I had to have a C-Section-yuck)

It took 3 years for me to get back to where I was after my second child. I am 32 years old and was 29 at the time. I am not sure these are words of encouragement but it does take time. Now people see me and say I look great. I still have some personal fitness goals to work on and don't worry as much about the number (weight). After my first I went dancing 1 night a week. It gave me time off and I shed the weight pretty quickly. Do something you love. You'll get there.

I had a c-section and ended up weighing 20 lbs heavier 2 months after I had my son. I'm 3lbs away from my starting weight and he is 2.5 years old. I have been this close to my starting weight a few times since he was born and went back up a few. Weight loss is a journey. It took you 9 months to gain that weight. Take the time to let it come off. Pick a healthy eating routine that works for you, and shows your baby good eating habits. Exercise with your baby every day. Mine has always loved being bench pressed or added weight on sit ups or squats. Use your imagination.

Don't be frustrated...your not the minority, the ones that drop it fast are. So hang in there and get it done right.

I have two boys...6 and almost 4. I'm 5'4" and gained 70lbs with my first and just managed by .1 to stay under 200!!!! I started Livestrong last year and did it for a month or two. Fell off the wagon and just started last month. It's a tough road and you have to be ready and you have to acknowledge it and do it for yourself. You are worth it and it does get better. You know it gets better when your workouts start to make you strong and you actually miss when you don't. It's been 21 days of tracking and I am down to 173. My eating has changed and my dinner has been substituted to a huge salad with one day tuna, then chicken, then imitation crab, and so on. It's treating yourself to a low fat treat and tracking your calories. You can do it!!! You are worth it. I am 39. 40 in April. It will, for once be a birthday I look forward too! Remember, it's a slow process, but a healthy process. When you start to feel better about yourself you won't mind the post pregnancy tummy. That's thee most difficult thing to get rid of. I wish you luck and success.

My son is 18 months.. I was lucky and gained 25 pounds... I have lost all of it... with warming weather it is easier to incorporate exercise. I used to play with him on the floor and do my exercises. We dance and since. I also jog... I day jog not run since I am not great. I bought a jogging stroller and he and I head out to the park. I also had a c-section and I was back in my pre-baby clothes in 6 months... I should also say I have a horrible diet... I am a police officer so I get stuck missing meals and eating whatever I can when I have a minute. I try and eat one good meal per day. Diets never worked for me because I am just not good at keeping to it. I don't have time to count calories... I just try not to sit too much... Trust me, when your daughter finds her feet... you won't either!

Hi! I'm a new mom too. My son is a bit over a year old. during pregnancy I had put on about 40 pounds and I am still struggling to take it off. I've never been on any diet ( I ate this word ;-))just because I don't believe in them and seen many friends taking some drastic diet, shredding the pounds and then gaining twice as much... I believe in making some lifestyle changes. It is of course a slow process which sometimes can be frustrating when we don't see the results as fast as we would like but I think that the ones which we put efforts in are more rewarding than just a quick fix.I am happy to see that I'm not alone in this situation and that I am not the only one feeling as you feel.

Let me know where you're up to in your process maybe we could exchange some tips and tricks!

Have a nice day!

Everytime I eat. I never feel full. So then I eat more. I also don't eat the healthiest food. My cardiologists wants me to lose 40 pounds, so I can have a healthy heart

By walkingsun89 on February 23, 2011 at 10:50 PM

I have the same problem. I watch what I eat but I never feel full.

By sweet__kitty on February 28, 2011 at 11:22 AM

I understand the feeling. You may want to evaluate what you eat (carbs, protein, fat), the quantity and in what order. I do not know the volume of your stomach but you can start filling your stomach by drinking 16 oz of water before your meal. Try eating your protein after that and then everything else (carbs, fat). End the meal with with another 16 oz of water. If you're still hungry, try drinking some more water (or tea -whatever you do, don't drink your calories with your meals) and eat some popcorn that you've seasoned yourself -I use some freshly grated parmesan, chopped rosemary, salt and a bit of cooking spray on the popcorn to help it stick. The popcorn helps physiologically by adding fiber without a lot of calories from carbs and the flavor of the seasoning adds some psychological satisfaction.

Hi, I'm really lacking in motivation. Is ther anyone else out there who has the same probem? Maybe we could mutually coach each other?

By kdanielle007 on October 24, 2010 at 08:56 AM

sure...I need to stick to it, and I need a push also

By Anonymous on December 21, 2010 at 10:29 AM

Is there anything on this site like being able to email someone or calling someone if you want to eat?????????????? Helena

By Kbell44 on January 17, 2011 at 04:57 AM

At some point in time, everyone lacks in motivation. My suggestion - just start. Take that first step whether it's walking for 20 minutes (take the dog!), eating that apple instead of a cookie, or whatever tiny little steps you can start to incorporate into your life. When you take those little steps, they'll feed into more steps and pretty soon you'll start to feel amazing. Remember, health and wellness is roughly 20% exercise and 80% of what you fuel yourself with. Just start...track what you eat each day and track your exercise -- you'll see huge results!! Go for it!

I would love to find someplace with an indoor track, but I can't afford it. I would love to get out and walk 15 - 20 minutes but too cold. Always busy and never seem to have the time for home work out....I have many excuses. I need motivation.
