This is Day 5 for me on the 2 week plan. I am taking "Baby Steps" and for me that meant taking it one day at a time for 7 days.

I am new to the site... I have made the comitment to make a change. I have been on my new health habits for 3 weeks now. I count my calories and keep a log of them on an app on my iPhone. I do get discouraged sometimes because I started this with my sister and she doesn't seem to take it as serious. When I call her for help ( talking me out of a hot fudge brownie sunday) it's almost like she wants me to fail. Thus far I've been strong I've lost 10 lbs so far. She has lost 5 and is still up n down. I've dicovered I can't control her eating hAbits. So I'm excited to have the support here because it is a struggle to fight the cravings for unhealthy foods.

She is probably jealous of your commitment to get healthy. This is a natural response for some people. When you succeed, and you will, it will make her feel even worse about herself. Do not let her attempts to drag you down get to you. Politely decline all invitations to desserts. Be strong! And stay on track! You're more than welcome to reply to me if you need support.

You becoming healthy is not about her and her issues. This is all about you!!!!

I can relate to you - I am starting out today and my goal is to get rid of 30 pounds - should be attainable - maybe we can encourage each other via e-mail.

That is awesome for you! I started a new diet and today is day 6. Lost so far, a little over 2 pounds... I was in the grocery store yesterday and the "goody aisle" was calling my name, however, the adult inside told me that it is me who consciously chooses what I put in my mouth... No one else's choice but my own. When I can remind myself of that fact, I can usually talk myself out of the bad stuff. I can also feel the effects of eating better and not eating all of the sugar that I once was eating. Believe me, I would much prefer a 1 lb bag of strawberry twizzlers to having to actually cook... but, knowing how I feel afterwards makes me make the healthy choices about what I put in my mouth.
The Livestrong DailyPlate has been a huge tool in helping me to track what I eat. I have tracked everything both good and bad (only 1 bad day) that I have eaten and I can feel the difference.
Keep up the good work.

Is this a good diet for someone who just wants to maintain the same weight and eat healthier? I don't really want to gain or lose any weight (maybe lose a couple of pounds but not much). I'm just interested in eating healthier and maintaining the weight that I'm at.

By Anonymous on April 23, 2010 at 01:02 PM

By Anonymous on April 21, 2010 at 10:14 AM
