My food intake is still excessive. I am having a hard time with
portion control. I do eat pretty healthy, but
I am eating when not hungry in the evening.
By korrim21 on November 20, 2009 at 09:48 AM
I have the same problem. I either do something when I get hungry, like take a walk (even if the weather is crappy, just put on some warm clothes and don't use it as an excuse!!) or i go through my old magazines for a workout, or I ALWAYS have peanuts on hand. not only do they keep your hands busy but they are a good fat for you to have. I try to think about overall whats good for my health and not whats good for my weightloss at this moment. unsalted sunflower seeds work great too, also these are both packed with fiber and we all know fiber is essential to weight loss. Anyways, good luck!!!

I am starting today by joining this group and continuing my goal to lose inches. I hate to say lose weight because that sets you up for failure. I would love to lose weight numbers, but I am not trading in muscle power for a number. I don't care if i stay 5'3 144lb as long as my waist and hips are as small as i can possibly get them :)
By karrrl on November 19, 2009 at 02:24 PM
I'll try to reduce it in 21 days starting today!

I'm staying on track with diet and exercise. Played 2 hours of tennis on Sunday. Checked my measurements this morning- no change. I'm not giving up though. My friend keeps telling me I look so much slimmer. So, something is definitely happening.

Two thumbs up!
By vjones11 on November 18, 2009 at 04:43 PM
Thanks hikergirl! The progress is sooooooooooo slow. I just have to keep telling myself to keep the focus.

I just measured my waist; it is 2.5 inches more than I suspected. Any hints on workouts to get me started?
By Anonymous on November 16, 2009 at 07:11 AM
My goal is to lose 6 inches off my waist.
By rt08 on November 11, 2009 at 12:29 AM
I have been losing weight, but my waist doesn't want to budge... Has anyone else encountered this?
By omgsilvana on November 11, 2009 at 01:28 AM
me too! you have to start working out just to shape that area. Thats the only way its going to work
By Anonymous on November 12, 2009 at 06:39 AM
If you have lost weight it may not have been from around your waist area. You can not chose which area the fat will burn off from first--usually the way your body puts it on will be the reverse of how it takes it off. You can work on the underlying muscles, so when the fat is burned off, you have some muscle ready to show:-) Keep it up and you will eventually get to that waist fat:-)

I just read an exercise study that states individuals will only lose visceral (stomach fat) with an exercise program if it is a high intensity activity like jogging or running as opposed to low or moderate intensity. They compared overweight individuals that walked with those that ran and found that the runners and the runners lost more. Not that people won't lose weight but that it is less likely to be fat of the abdomen from around the internal organs.

I actually am having the opposite effect. My weight isn't moving(because I am snacking at night :( Because I have been more active walking and biking my waist is down 1" in 3 days.
By shveta on November 13, 2009 at 01:17 PM

By jjfroggiestyle on November 14, 2009 at 03:03 PM
Pilates is an awesome exercise to work off that belly... it's been working for me and that is my trouble spot... good luck...
By garume on November 13, 2009 at 06:21 AM
Lost half an inch in a week - that is motivating. Using daily plate on a daily basis really helped keep me on track and working in intensive 1/2 an hour work out sessions is what I'm planning and will hopefully stick with. Sveta, I don't know if you're using pranayama (breathing exercises) but that really helped me alongwith yoga.
By shveta on November 13, 2009 at 01:11 PM
did kapal bhati? it helped!! :
By andrewsteinbeck on November 13, 2009 at 11:22 AM
I haven't lost any inches but I lost 1 lb in 3 days so that gets me pumped up.
I've actually started tracking my eating since I started this dare and really
helps me keep on track. Good luck to all!
By shveta on November 13, 2009 at 01:50 AM
Started with 30 inchs on waist. Today before breakfast measured 27.5 inches. 2.5 inches down. 1 inch to lose before 19th to meet my challenge.
My yoga teacher wants me to make yoga a routine activity.
By I-hikergirl on November 11, 2009 at 04:23 PM
I just completed my first dare, and lost more than I've been able to lose in the last 3 years!
My waist started at 40.5"
My waist is now at 39.5"
Day 21 of my next challenge will be December 1st.
I am going to work even harder this time : )
By I-hikergirl on November 11, 2009 at 04:24 PM
Ooops! I just noticed I started at 41"! I lost 1.5"!
By vjones11 on November 12, 2009 at 08:48 AM
Great job! We are just about on the same schedule. My next dare began on the 1st too.
By Fishbel on November 12, 2009 at 07:44 AM
Hi, this is my first post. I was wondering, what reduction in waist would folk expect to have if they stick to their healthy eating regime with exercise after the 21 days? I'm well above the recommended limit of 35" and only 5 ft 5. (getting fed up with tight waistbands all the time!!)
By amaipeach on November 11, 2009 at 06:45 AM
Not that I think this dare was a bad idea, but I think I'm going to stop this dare, and restart. I've recently joined a gym, and I'm going to start doing work outs that are going to help with my core. I think, it is safe to say that restart this dare. I'll be more motivated to get it done, and I'll have more help when it comes to doing it. Is that okay? To restart the dare because I've got more motivation, or should I just keep going until the end and see what my results are? I haven't reached my goal, and I don't think I will...but I'm not going to meet it any time soon. I don't feel like it was a waste. I did nothing last week, and that probably slowed my progress...I'll get a trimmer waist...It'll all work out!
By mom2breezenkai on November 11, 2009 at 10:04 AM
I am not sure I measured the right spot. I am set to have day 21 as Dec 1rst, so that should be totally interesting.
By Anonymous on November 12, 2009 at 06:41 AM
Hey--this is about your motivation:-) If you you need to restart, I would restart:-) It is only to get a 'smaller' waist in 21 days---not to get to where your ultimate goal. I just use it as a step goal--one step to my main goal:-) Good Luck and enjoy the gym:-)
By Anonymous on November 11, 2009 at 10:18 PM

By seminaryrunner on November 11, 2009 at 01:26 PM
After getting on the scale and realizing that I'm almost back to where I was before I decided that I need to do something today. I need to get back to running and eating better and hopefully this will keep me on track.
By bexyboo37 on November 11, 2009 at 06:12 AM
