been out on the bike loads in the good old english weather!!! dont you just love riding in the rain and strong headwinds!!! hahaha!!!
achieved another goal the other day and stopped smoking after nearly 25 years!!!!!!
day 3 and im feeling excellent! i aint going back there!!!!
once my minds made up its made up ie: clean from heroin for 11 years!!
bring forth the racing season :-)
6 days til my triathlon!
Good training this past weekend. Bought my first tri suit and tried it out by running to Y for a short swim then back. The run was fine, but it felt a little like wearing a parachute in the pool. I'm tempted to ditch the tri shorts for a swimming bottom and then throw the tri shorts on over them after the swim. Thoughts?
Yesterday did a 12 mile biek to my softball game, and I was really hurting trying to run during softbal, I think I made the mistake of stopping too long before trying to run, so tonight will do another short brick to make sure I'll be ok.
The water temp is going to be about 76 degrees for the race. I'm not planning on wearing a wetsuit, but I'm wondering if I'll be one of the only ones.
First tri next Sunday!
training hasn't been great, but I think I'll finish, which is what matters right now.
Anyone having trouble with the new website format?
I think a few folks are having issues with getting their posts to go through.
Good luck on your tri sunday. remember to have fun. the goal for the first one is to finish and enjoy the experience.
started on my quest to stop smoking on sat - im taking these Champix tablets, you are supposed to carry on smoking whilst taking them as they block the receptors in your brain, i've already halved the amount i smoke and am looking forward to being smoke free within the next week or so! feeling good about this as its long over due and then i'll make the transition from swim cyclist based triathlete to all 3 disciplines based triathlete!! always hated the running bit as it hurts too much due to the smoking so looking forward to that !!!!!!!!
way to go Kasual! quitting is not easy. trust me there will be temptations. i know you can do it. just stay strong, mate!
cheers mate! feelin positive about it!!! its going well atm and just takin it a day at a time! due to quit full stop monday :-)
thanks for ur support man, ur a legend :-)
Went out and ran 5 miles yesterday. I am a long ways from my goal, but working on it none the less.
full swing marathon training. coming off a 20 mile LSD run on Saturday, 3 mile recovery on Sunday and 5 miles this morning. i am experiencing "black toes" for the first time. yay for me.
5k at lunch. Not a record. Not even the best I've felt. HOWEVER.. I've been so busy with work the past couple weeks (on the road with rediculous hours) that I've had no time to train. First day back and I'm so glad I did. Post run emotions are GREAT!! 12 days until raceday!!! Will have to adjust target splits, but I.. WILL... FINISH..
oh yeah, you will. let us know how it goes.
Alright cool I am back and im going to train for one now,i just got back from my lds mission and now i am way committed to do this now south carolina wasnt to kind on my bad knees espically when your living in the middle of no where and its gravel but it was fun i also gained 10 pounds so i am going extreme right now.
good for you! take care of those knees. they're kinda important...
been out on the bike 4 days out of the last 5!
we're havin a bit of an indian summer over here atm! makin the most of it!
i've set a quit date for stopping smoking - 10th Oct! its a long time due, been smoking for 20years and have had enough now!
gonna try the champix tablets so will let ya know how it goes!!!!
you can do this bro! making the decision is half the battle.
I completed my first half marathon yesterday. 1:50:05 on a rather hilly course. The last two miles are up hill. I averaged sub 8:00/miles for the first 9 miles. I lost 1:30 to an unscheduled potty break.
I am very proud for this time for my first half marathon. It's amazing how "easy" the run is when it doesn't follow a swim and a bike.
great job, G! yeah, it's a completely different feel huh?
good stuff G !!
Tomorrow is the big day for my first ever Triathlon...a Sprint tri with 300m swim, 12mile bike, and 5k run! I was a little worried I'd have to back out....I strained my lower back at crossfit last friday, but I gave it lots of rest and stretching and did a "test run" yesterday with 6 mile bike/ 1.5 mile run and I feel great!
good luck tomorrow. you'll do great! let us know how it goes.
When I got there I found out it had been changed to a duathlon because the lake water was too low and all muddy, so we ran 1.5 mile, bike 12 mile with a HUGE hill at the beginning--which I rode all the way by serpentining up, then ran another 1.5 mi. I came in around 1:36.
Congrats!! Sorry they changed it to a duathlon, but congrats on finishing. Gotta love those HUGE hills.
sounds like the race director did you a favor. although they could have made it one of those Tough Mudder races.
had some ankle soreness during my run yesterday morning. i made the difficult decision to skip my speed workout this morning so as to not aggravate the pain. tomorrow is a scheduled rest day and saturday i have 18 LSD miles staring at me. im pushing that run back to the evening to get just a little extra healing in. hopefully im pain free by then.
5 mile run this morning.
Question. Do i sound like a skipping record? Cuz i feel like one. 14 more weeks of this?!?
I feel like a skipping record when I get on a specific focus. Whether it is run, bike, or swim.
I don't think I would stick with the workouts if I wasn't splitting the time between the three disciplines. I'm not a runner, a cyclist, or a swimmer. I'm a triathlete.
I did my 12 miles today. I think a recovery swim is in order for tomorrow a.m.
I haven't been in the pool in 3 weeks. I'm starting to dry out. I plan on working on some swim drills to correct my imbalance. I know I swim faster than some of the people I race against, but I cannot swim straight. :-p
Marathon plan is starting to ramp up.
16.28 LSD run this morning. next week begins a LOOONNGG stretch of weeks with mileage in the upper 30s. no lookin back now.
Finished first ever triathlon today. While the swim was very cold, it wasnt as bad as I had feared. It was not a wave start so I just started the swim in last place and worked into a good pace. While I may have been the last one in the water, I wasn't the last one out. Overall I had fun and look forward to the next one.
awesome job on your finish! good to hear your swim went well too. Triathlon is addictive, so you better start saving your pennies!!
