yay you!
woo hoo! it makes me happy that a smoker is trying their best to quit
I dont really have a set amount to save I just really want to quit wasteing it on dumb things. I am sure every dollar counts.
I am going to try this out. I am hoping to save at least $50 a month by cutting out extras. if each time i fill up my car (which is at least once a week) i no longer buy sodas, pretzels, etc. i can save a lot that way. also, i need to get my family into the habit of no longer going out for dinner. we go at least 1-2 times per week. i think if we stick to a once a month rule we can really save a lot!
i had a good start today by getting free coffee at work v. a $2 coffee from the gas station.
yes, learn from your mistake.
Well we decided to end our home phone service and use just our cell phone. Saved $600 per year.
I have a serious obsession with the grocery store. My gym is right next to it and I've been known to stop in knowing I need nothing, but I'll see that glorious 4 letter word (sale!)...I had a boyfriend who used to say "Women are the only people who could save money by spending it..." I DO NOT NEED ANYTHING FROM THE GROCERY STORE!
i know how you feel. i'm grocery store obsessive myself. i'm trying to make a list and stick to it by only going to the store once a week and only getting what is on the list. good luck!
Transferred $10.00 to savings. At this point just trying to get into the habit even though there isn't much to save right now.
Was given two free tickets to a college basketball game plus saved almost $10 at the grocery store.
we walked instead of taking the car, which saved a small amount in petrol and cash. have my weekly menu planned, but trying to keep hubby from spending!
My wife and I save money by budgeting a certain amount for groceries, eating out, and personal spending.
Each paycheck we take the budgeted amount of cash from our bank account and place it into an envelope so that either one or the other can draw upon it.
Any money spent from the envelope is replaced with a receipt stating its use. When the money is gone, there is no spending left.
The trick here is to make sure that you create a little cushion in the envelope money.
The remaining paycheck goes against savings and paying down existing debt. We were surprised by how much we were spending on eating out on the weekends and little other non-necessities.
So far so good. Went to the grocery store and spent about $120 but I also saved over $45 by using coupons and buying items on sale. For some good entertainment I took the family sledding instead of out to spend money. Tonight we stayed in and spent time together instread of going out to a movie and dinner. However I plan on taking my wife out tomorrow. Sounds bad but we got a gift certificate to a localk steakhouse from a neighbor so that will save some money.
New Year's resolution for 2010? Stop wasting money!!! My goal... cut $3,000.00 in unnecessary expenses this year. Today? For my first step towards this goal I cancelled my diamond membership to Hollywood Video and saved $480.00 by doing so.
Just started this dare today. For starters I plan on utilizing more coupons and researching sale prices for items that I purchase most often, ie groceries. I also plan on working out after work or at home instead of making separate trips to conserve fuel and money. Also going to make sure to take my lunch and snacks to work instead of buying from cafeteria and snack machines. Try to make sure to eat at home more often as well instead of eating out as often. Looking forward to hearing everyone elses ideas.
Have you ever checked out www.thegrocerygame.com? I'm a member there. If you want to join and you use me as a reference, I'll get a month free. Anyway, check it out! They tell you which coupons to use when to maximize your savings. I get LOTS of free stuff this way!
woo hoo! try making your own burgers at home. hint: they taste so much better!
So, I've been saving for a while, but since I started this dare today, I am posting what I have saved so far.
