It's been a while since I posted. Last November, I completed Ironman Arizona in a little over 14 hours. I went into the race with a couple of minor injuries so I missed my goal time by an hour. Still, I can't begin to describe what an amazing experience it was. I'm thoroughly hooked and will be back in Arizona for 2012.
got the indoor trainers for our bikes, so that way the rain can't derail us this year - stupid may, raining every weekend. trainers keep you honest, no coasting. that tire just stops.
probably going for november 2012 with the ironman arizona.
This has been a wonderful, fun-filled, beautiful journey! 100 pounds, four years, two half-iron distance reaces and a WHOLE LOTTA miles along the way... I will complete IM Cozumel or IM Arizona next Fall!
2 months left until IM Arizona. the knee is healing and i'm up to a 1.7 mile swim, 72 mile ride and 8.2 mile run for my longest distances.
I have been in the Dare to Complete a Triathlon group for over a year now. To date I have completed 2 Sprints, 2 Olys and will be doing my 1st HIM this weekend. I have registered for IM LOU 2012. Im excited to go on this journey and hope I can share some experiences with all of you.
I attempted the Vineman 140.6 a week and a half ago. I missed the cut off time to start the third (and final) loop of the run by 1/2 hour.
I had 1/3 of the marathon left. So, I'm an almost ironman 132-ish. I will be finishing one next year. I'm refocusing on my training (after a recovery period of course, I'm still nursing battlewounds) and I think I'm going to be hitting the weight room to build my strength before the next go round.
great effort! i'm sure you'll do it next time.
Congrats mdcone! you are awesome!
congrats! great job!
suffered a setback. crashed at the vineman 70.3 when a spoke on my front wheel snapped in half. my knee fell on the spoke and was sliced open to the bone, a 3 inch wide gash. 2 weeks of nothing until the stitches came off. but, in the past week and a half since i started back i'm up to a 1.5 mile swim and a 34 mile ride. still not able to run yet. i have 3 more months to train for ironman arizona. it's going to be tough, but i plan on being ready. :-)
Well, heading to Penticton this weekend to take in this years Subaru Ironman and will be signing up for next years event! It's going to be one of a year considering that I have never done a triathlon before and I have never swam laps. I'm pretty comfortable with a 110km ride and 30km run so I have a base but a lot of work ahead to put it all together.
Bring it on!
Almost done with 1st week of IMAZ training.
Day 1: 31 min run (HR zone 3)
Day 2: 70 min stretch and strength, 46 min swim (1.2 miles), 30 min pool run
Day 3: 63 min bike (HR zone 1)
Day 4: 80 min stretch and strength, 45 min swim (3x300 time trial), 45 min pool run
Day 5: 30 min swim (10x25), 90 min bike (HR zone 1)
Day 6: 3 hour ride, 20 min brick run
Awesome effort this week! keep posting, it's motivating to read your progress.
Getting in enough training sessions to keep on track for my commitment to 10km Daily for June.
Recovering from injury and need a goal to focus on.
Starting with 10km daily for a month to prepare for training schedule. I think i have worked out distance correctly. Is the kona event 140miles = 310km

Having had 6 years of a life far from anything remotely ironman, a sad passing the daughter of a family friend has ade me get the gear out again, raise awareness, raise some funds and get FIT. So far so good, 8 weeks into my 36 week program and looking forward to Ironman Wales in Sept with an Ironman uk 70.3 along the way. I forgot how great this sport was. Hooked once more
