Third Degree Sprained Ankle & Physiotherapy Exercises

Your foot contains a number of ligaments that attach one bone to another. When you stretch the ligaments beyond their normal limits and partially or completely tear the ligaments, you have an ankle sprain. Every day, around 25,000 Americans sprain their ankle, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Most have a mild, or grade 1, sprain. The most serious type of ankle sprain, a grade 3 sprain, results when you tear the ligament completely. Follow your doctor's guidelines about starting physical therapy when you have a grade 3 sprain.
