Proper Sinker Weights for Fishing

Prior to heightened concerns for certain pollutants in our waters, fishing sinkers were cast from pure lead. Many manufacturers now use alloy metals to cast sinkers, and they continue to use brass alloy for sinker eyes to attach a fishing line. Sinkers are produced in numerous styles and weight, ranging from less that 1 oz to several pounds. Water conditions and the species of fish being targeted often dictate the proper sinker weights for fishing.
