I have this shooting heel pain that comes and goes through the day. Its pretty bad when I first walk in the morning, however, the pain is not just when I step on it. I can be sitting at my cubicle working and it will happen. To top it off, it is getting worse. Has anyone else had this problem? I went out this weekend and bought new shoes, and it is not helping.

yep.

See a dr-- there are lots of treatments for this.

but, you can also try a Strassburg Sock. Google it, they are available at running & sports stores and have really helped me.

Either plantar fasciitis or a heel spur or both. See a ortho MD and Physical therapist for your best advice.

I've had this in both heels - sounds exactly like what I had - plantar fasciitis. The best way to treat is better sturdier shoes - little to no heel. The cure for me was a cortizone shot right where it counts - hurts, but no longer a chronic problem. There are exercises you can do with a stretchy band to strengthen the area. Good luck!
