I am just curious about something. I just went and bough a new scale lastnight, and was wondering when is the best time of day to weight in? I heard before to do it in the morning after taking ur first pee :) and before eating or drinking anything. Is this true?

I think as long as you are weighing yourself the same time of day everytime you do it you'll get pretty accurate, but I think its best to do it first thing in the moring before eating or drinking anything.

the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning after you use the bathroom, like you said. throughout the day your body will...i dont know really, but you gain weight. i used to think if you didn't eat or drink anything then you'd weigh the same amount, but i found out one day taht was wrong. i gained like 2lbs in like 3 hours from sitting on my butt and not taking in anything. weird huh? i'm not sure how your body retains water if you don't put any in...but yeah... that's the best time to weigh yourself.
but don't start weighing yourself everyday. you'll drive yourself crazy. trust me. i can't go through my day not knowing how much i weighed in the morning.

I weight myself every Friday morning, after I pee and brush my teeth and naked :)

Of course the number on the scales look better when I do this, but if you ever weigh yourself or have yourself weighed during the day, and dressed you might be a little shocked. So keep that in mind if you think you weigh a decent number, go to the doctor and when they weigh you it's 5+ pounds more than you thought it should be.

In reality as long as your weigh yourself on the same scales and about the same time that will give you a correct weight.

I used to work for one of the many popular diet companies (or "lifestyle changes" as they called it), and it really doesn't matter when you weight youself. Like nelski said, what is important is that you do it at the same time every day. So if you do it in the morning, continue to do it every morning. I weight myself at night before bed, so I do it every night at the same time. This is because your weight changes throughout the day, and if you weigh yourself at different times, you will be getting inconsistent results (which may become discouraging). I also know that weighing yourself daily isn't recommended because body weight flunctuates throughout the week, so it's best to weight yourself a maximum of 3 times per week, ideally once a week. I don't even follow that though, I'm too curious!

Before nature's morning call in the morning seems to be pretty popular. I think it really doesn't matter when we do it, as long it is consistent. I think we all do it in the morning since we know we will get the best reading after an 8 hour sleep fast! The problem is that my Doc appointments come in the afternoon, then I get a bit of a shock!!

I also weigh first thing in the morning before my shower and after I use the restroom. :D

I weigh in once a week, Sunday mornings, first thing, also after potty and before consuming anything. Always about the same time of day for consistency. In addition to TDP, I record these numbers in a journal along with my measurements and body fat % so I can track my progress. Can't say enough good things about keeping a journal. I agree that weighing daily would drive me crazy because we do naturally fluctuate throughout the day and throughout the week but a consistent weekly weight will better track your progress.

I don't like weighing myself at night because it doesn't give you an accurate reading of JUST your weight. It's all the food that's still in you and whatever you're wearing. In the morning, I'm in light pajamas and haven't eaten yet.

I hate going to the doctor's though, I'm always like, "No I swear I'm really 5 lbs less than that!"

Haha- I can totally relate to that. Thanks. I thought the morning was the best time, so now I think I will do the Sunday routine like mentioned above.

I'm an "in the morning after bathroom" girl. I went to the Dr's on Thurs and weighed 8lbs LESS than I had in the morning.. with my clothes on... and a full tummy from lunch.

Stealing that lovely scale from the Dr's office would be bad right?

Yes. Bad. Very bad. Because I need to make an appointment right NOW! Who's your doctor? :)

I've always been a once a week or so, in the a.m., after potty, before shower, nakey weigher, too. Until about 1 1/2 years ago or so, when (at about 20lbs over my "good weight") decided to go with the whole "don't weigh, go by how your clothes fit" thing. Hahahahaha. Yeah, that worked. So, now I've decided to try the "Google 15", where you weigh yourself every day, and it uses your rolling average over 15 days. It goes against every fiber in my being to weigh myself daily, but I'm giving it a shot. Definitely has to be better [for me] than the "pants fit" idea, methinks.
