Diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2004, Hayley persevered to graduate as Salutatorian of her class(2006). Now a junior at Yale, she amazes me daily with her desire to LIVE "strong."
Hayley was diagnosed in 2004 and her best friend was diagnosed with Hodgkins one year later. They battled the side effects of chemo throughout senior year. Sara lost her fight shortly after graduation. Hayley became active in Colleges Against Cancer soon after Yale's orientation, and has headed the Yale chapter ever since. She balances her pre-med classes with Ski Team, sorority, and work responsibilities, but CAC remains #1, in honor of her friend. Hayley dedicates every day to living 100%.

I too have battled Breast Cancer while going to college. But I am 39 years old. I went through Ovarian and Cervical cancer when I was 32. I know what you thought when they told you, you had Hodgkins, they told me thats what I had first and that's what I thought I had for about two agonizing weeks, It comes down to cancer is cancer and I admire your determination to keep up the fight. I am truly sorry for your loss with Sara, it is hard.
