Why?

My little sister, Mallory, is my role model. I look up to her more than she could ever imagine. It might be odd for an older sister to say this, but she is more than just my younger sister, she is my inspiration. I may only be 22 years old but I've encountered a lot of different people in my life and Mallory is one of the most amazing. She has always been able to draw people in with her charisma and positive outlook on life. Even when we were younger I would never find myself bored or in a bad mood while with her. She has a way of lifting spirits, and I am so thankful to have her in my life. I don't get to see her that often because we both go to different colleges and have very busy schedules, but we communicate almost daily. Mallory is a person whose spirit is contagious, she knows who she is and is not scared to share herself with the world. She constantly amazes me with the woman she is turning into and I couldn't be more proud to call someone my sister and my best friend.

How do they give?

Mallory's life is lived at 100%. Everyday, every activity, every person she meets is given her all. She is so full of life you can't help but to notice her. Mallory is currently a junior at Murray State University in Kentucky. As a freshman she walked on to their basketball team. Through hard work and dedication she gained a full scholarship her sophomore year and this year she is a starter. Basketball is one of her passions. She lives and breathes the sport and is truly in love with the game. She is fully committed to becoming the best player she can be, while her unselfish nature and natural leadership wants the same for all her teammates. She plays with a passion and watching her you can see this. She also enjoys sharing her love of the game with others. Mallory has worked personally with many young girls to help them improve their skills, but she also serves as a role model to them off the court. She has even traveled with G.O. Ministries to the Dominican Republic where she helped facilitate a basketball camp for kids. Another passion of hers is music. She has always been drawn to writing and is able she express her thoughts and creativity through music. While this may hard to believe, it is more than true, Mallory is a very talented rapper. She has put together two CDs which contain her own writings. Her first CD was entitled "No Time to Waste." This was also the name of a song on the CD, about appreciating your life, that she wrote to honor a close friend of hers that passed away very young. She sold her second CD for two dollars and donated half the proceeds to Relay for Life. She raised around 300 dollars and even performed a concert on Murray State's campus promoting Relay for Life. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there but Mallory is not scared to shine. She is proud of the person she is and encourages everyone around her to be proud of themselves as well. She truly defines living life to the fullest. When obstacles come her way she uses her inner strength and faith to keep moving forward. Mallory's life motto is "Act Alive" and she does. She not only embodies all the characteristics of a person who gives 100% but she challenges others to do the same. She is my personal motivator and being around her automatically elevates me to that 100% level. Mallory is not a fan of life but a player. She is passionate about everything she does and doesn't settle for less than her best. I would say, 100%, that my sister Mallory deserves this nomination.

I knew Mallory about 10 minutes before I could see what she stood for. Mallory is someone who's willing to put herself out there for another & for something she believes. She's the same person in the 1st 10 minutes you know her, as she is to the people who've known her 10 years. That in itself is inspiring because it encourages you to be just like her, in that you believe so passionately IN who u are and live so actively AS who u r. Go Mal:)
