Why?

DJ has always given 110% of himself at all times. He is a very un-selfish individual who has a passion for life and helping others less fortunate. He is a great role model for kids.

How do they give?

DJ was born with a birth defect and required a liver transplant at 8 months of age. He spent the first year and a half of his life in the hospital and had some 28 operations. He is referred to many as the miracle kid. He gives 110% of his time and talent giving back to kids in the community speaking at schools and hospitals and educating them on organ donation and the importance of being what you want to be. He tells these kids that after they have their transplant they can be athletes and basically do anything their dreams desire. He has represented Team USA in the World Transplant games bringing home many gold medals around the world. Last year he was named the Outstanding Male Athlete at the US games and had the honor to carry in the torch. He has been to Japan, Thailand, Australia and France participating as an Elite member of Team USA. While abroad he is an ambassador for the USA and again helps others in need.

At the games he coaches others in fields he has been blessed to excel at and has even taken his gold medals off his neck to give to other less fortunate kids who did not medal.

Presently he is a Freshman at Quincy University playing soccer and baseball. At school he takes time to help others whether it be school work or sports, NO is simply not in his vocabulary.

His bio for the transplant games booklet reads the following, " My life is good. I have had no complications as a result of my transplant and I live the normal life of a teenager. I just happen to be a normal teenager with a few surgical scars, a few gold medals, and a few amazing life experiences that I will never forget or take for granted."

Very inspiring Bio, you do what kids with no issues take for granted and just throw their abilities away. Keep up your amazing accomplishments. Lisa Boice
