Well I met Suzanne several years ago and my life has been different ever since. I am a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army and even in times of combat my thoughts turn to Suzanne. The hope, passion and love for life shines so brightly that it can help just about any one see through their darkest times. I have been deployed for 15 months and I can not wait to see Ronnie, Suzanne, Katie and Karlie.
" Miss you Guys ".......Hope to see you soon.

2 years ago, in the most difficult phase of my life, I "met" Suzanne. After so long I have a pleasent feeling to see a picture of her.
Without knowing who Suzanne was, and actually we never talked with each other, I had the luck to experience the best of what humanity mean, just because, without any apparent reason, Suzanne was available.
I will keep for the rest of my life an immense gratitude for the support, the strength and the intensity of the heat and solidarity that Suzanne could give and share with me.
To all the people that I know I try share this experience, but I will never be able to express the strength that it had.
I thank God that gave me a hand and touched me through this Human Being.

Suzanne embodies strength in the face of a disease that does everything to rob it, shows courage not only in her own battle but "gives" us all a little bit more when we seem to be out. She shares hope internationally and unconditionally. She gives 100% and then a little bit more. I know that without her, I wouldn't be here. I had been told there was nothing more that could be done when we met. She simply said there is always more that can be done. And she was right. I'm proud to call her my angel and my friend.

Suzanne has been a very special person in my life. I lost my 33 year old daughter to advanced colon cancer in 2007. When no one else gave us hope, Suzanne did. Because of this Jen survived her cancer longer than what the doctors predicted. I am now helping a friend who is facing the same situation with Suzanne's guidance. Suzanne profoundly touches the lives of everyone she is in contact with, she is our Earth bound Angel.

Suzanne is an angel on earth; the angel of HOPE. I met her several years ago through the ACOR Colon list. She is so generous and compassionate; sharing advice and her own personal experiences so that others can learn from them. She is constantly on the move, educating and advocating, all while fighting the beast herself. She has such a positively STRONG attitude about life which she spreads to everyone she touches. I am proud to know her and call her friend.

I met Suzanne during one of the bleakest parts of my life. My 44 y.o. husband, Kevin, had been diagnosed w/metastatic colon cancer in July 2003. He was asleep in the hospital after having a colon resection, and as I sat in the dark hospital room, I was absolutely terrified (not something that usually happened to me-I am a veterinarian and know how to think logically and remain calm under pressure). Yet here I was--terrified of losing the love of my life and paralyzed with fear. I found Suzanne through an organization and from the first time I heard her voice,I actually felt HOPE. Kevin had a beautiful spirit like Suzanne's, but despite a valiant fight, he died April 16, 2004. Suzanne and I have remained good friends--I have met her wonderful family and have visited them twice in TX. No matter what else happens in my life, I truly know that I have been SO VERY LUCKY to have meet two EXTRAORDINARY human beings...Kevin in 1983 and Suzanne in 2003. They have enriched my life, shown me not to sweat the stupid small stuff, to live my life each day, and no matter what to NEVER give in. I am eternally grateful to them.
What truly amazes me about Suzanne is that she has her own cancer battle to fight with her own hopes, fears, and pain. I know she must one to scream, cover her head, and ask Why?, but instead she smiles, loves, gives, travels, helps, encourages, and fights for everyone she meets. They broke the mold when she was made. I really love you Suzanne, Laurie

Suzanne is simply the best example of a true Christian and cancer survivor advocate I have ever known. I met her at the ASCO GI conference in Orlando last year, and I'm sure she is there now keeping the survivors' flame alive! She has introduced me to many whose help I needed and who needed help from me. I only found out recently she is an MSW too, and she has put the social work skills we learned to the best practical use I've ever seen. She has a kind word of encouragement to all, but is also tough enough to get up and speak forcefully to a room full of Washington DC folks to make sure cancer treatment and survivorship is always high up on the agenda! love, Pam Gravlin

There are not enough words to describe the inspiration that Suzanne is to us to to many others. When my husband was diagnosed stage iv, it was her that showed us that yes, we can fight. Yes, we can live. Yes, we can conquer the beast. And when the beast showed us he had figured out all the chemo toxins we threw at him, she showed us the way to Dr. Nutting and more yes, we can attitude. We are forever grateful and living and training for more triathlons...all because of Suzanne's amazing spirit, courage and willingness to share her journey with others. She is truly committed to helping others. We LOVE YOU GIRL!!!

I will never ever again think "What can one person do?" Because of knowing Suzanne Lindley, I know that one person really can make a difference in hundreds of lives. Sounds like I'm being dramatic here--but it is the truth. The encouragement and assistance Suzanne has provided to countless people battling cancer would be amazing for an individual who was in excellent health. But Suzanne has given and given and given to others while fighting her own non-stop battle against a disease she was told would claim her life more than 10 years ago. Many of us have had cancer...but most of us have not endured chemo almost every week for more than 10 years...or the countless other treatments and procedures she has endured with such grace. And while Suzanne would have had every right to feel sorry for herself and give up her fight, she never complains. She just continues her selfless crusade to help anyone and everyone with a need--whether great or small. I was so amazed to learn recently of a local man who had lost a long battle with cancer, and left Suzanne a "treasure chest" of letters he had written to her for every time she called, visited, brought him food, etc. THERE WERE 428 LETTERS!! Incredible. I am so very privileged to call Suzanne my friend. And I am grateful for her lessons in LIVING. Thanks Suzanne!

I met Suzanne at LaGuardia Airport on the way to a Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Conference in Long Island in Novemeber.
Carcinoid NET Cancers are very often GI in nature and some of our treatments are the same as colorectal cancer treatments.
I am thinking in particular of the Sirspheres and Theraspheres treatments which Suzanne is so knowledgeable about and which save lives.
I was extremely impressed by Suzanne and about the way she perseveres in regard to her treatment and the treatment of so many others.
She is a gentle fighter, very smart and very warm and friendly. She became a friend right away.

My husband has metastaic melanoma with brain mets. he has had one double crainiotomy and one single crainiology, two bouts of radiation, one round of chemo. We have never met Suzanne but know someone whose sister she has helped tremendously. Seing the post from Drill_Rider made me post today. Our daughter is a 12 year old "horse girl." Horses are keeping her coping with her daddy's cancer. She was adopted just 3 1/2 years ago from Russia as an older child and guess who took her for her first ride? Daddy! Just learning about Suzanne has given us hope, and now knowing she is a "horse lady" makes it all a perfect fit! My daughter would probably say the horses help keep Suzanne strong and I have no doubt its true! We may be in touch with Suzanne soon, after my husband's next round of tests. And who knows...maybe we'll get to see an equestrian event one day together! That would be the perfect circle of oneness in life we all seek.

For several years, I have watched Suzanne ride with the Ghostriders Rodeo Drill Team. She is amazing! From her attitude and actions, you would never know that she had been sick with such a dreadful disease, like cancer. Thomas Edison stated, "Many of life's failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." Well, Suzanne didn’t give up her fight, and is still relentlessly perseverant today, with the same fight, not just for herself, but inspires many others with her walk. A well-known fact is that at 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils, and with boiling water, comes steam, with steam, you can power a train. In my opinion, and many, many others, Suzanne is the one extra degree that equals the exponential results. Suzanne Lindley turns up the heat, as she inspires, with not only words, but also her ACTIONS. She applies the one degree. And by Applying the one extra degree, she means the difference between something that's simply very hot and something that generates enough force to inspire - a beautifully, uncomplicated person who epitomizes the metaphor and ideally and the Nike Give 100%.

Suzanne - a 10+ year colon cancer survivor herself - has been an unwaivering inspiration for so many. She has given tirelessly of her own time and energy to selflessly provide her invaluable wisdom and assistance to others across the nation and even around the world; and she has done so in spite of her own disease, trials and tribulations. If it weren't for Suzanne and her unending dedication to fight this horrible disease for others as well as for herself I, personally, wouldn't be alive to write this message today. Suzanne has helped countless cancer victims and their caregivers over the years. She gives us hope and inspiration when there seems to be no reason to hold onto hope. Suzanne has fought for legislation to smooth the path for cancer victims to get coverage for their procedures through their insurance companies. Suzanne embodies the word "LIVESTRONG" and all it stands for. She is so very deserving of this honor, as I'm sure all of the others are. For those of us who's lives have been touched by Suzanne, the words "earthbound Angel" hold a special meaning. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to her for making such a difference in my life. Thank you Suzanne, for all of your hard work and dedication, and for giving me viable treatment options when it seemed there were none left. I thank you, and my family and friends thank you. You are one GREAT lady!!!!

I have never met Suzanne, but I'm living with colon cancer now. I've already been through one round of chemo therapy and have started another. I'm not going to be able to make it through this round. I'm tired, very sick, and can't hold food down. Suzanne gives many the knowledge that they can make it, as her story has me for several years hearing her story from the Ghostriders group and Gary Bonner. She will get my vote as a true hero of the day. Inspiration and support are hard to give when your down with cancer yourself, so it's "hats off" to this wonderful lady.

I have noticed in the comments that there is something no one has mentioned. Suzanne does inspire others, both the families that are living with cancer but also others, through her sharing with her "writings" as I call them. Suzanne takes the time to write about things she notices everyday which many of us take for granted. She gives us a deeper insight into many mundane things around us. I alone have a list of friends who have never met this lady, but who are constantly her fan club, wanting to know "have you heard from Suzanne", "has she written more lately?" I have had many blessings come into my life and this lady is one of the most appreciated. She is a winner.

Suzanne reaches out to everyone with extraordinary encouragement, knowledge, and strength. She has done so much to help so many others, while she continues to fight her own battle. She is a true light, and deserves to be recognized by this award. Rich C North Carolina

Suzanne is best described in Proverbs 31. She is a fighter and will win her battle with colon cancer. In the process, she has reached out and enriched millions of lives. You go Suzanne!

Suzanne is one of the most amazing people I know! She is always there to help us wade through the various treatments, surgeries, offer suggestions, etc. I treasure her friendship and her help more than I can say!

I have never met Suzzanne, but I heard about her constantly during the last several months. Not only did she find doctors to help my sister-in-law get surgery that Blue Cross denied, but she became a friend to my brother when he desperately needed one. She gave us all hope and I can't thank her enough.

Some (few?) of us have not been touched by this terrible disease. So far I am among that fortunate group. And here is where Suzanne's magic appears. Her words of wisdom, encouragement and especially love are not just for the afflicted. They reach out to people like me and make me realize we must find a cure. She has reasserted humanity in this human. She lives strong for EVERYONE!

Dr V
Suzanne epitomizes the highest emotions of loving life, loving those around her, and having the capacity to reach out to hundreds of survivors and families grappling with her shared journey. As a physician who had Suzanne enter the life of my most cherished and then ultimately my own I could never in words convey what she means to those she touches. To know her is beyond honor, has touched my spirit and enriched my soul. She brings hope and joy to life, crossing barriers wherever she meets them. We should all be so fortunate.

Without a doubt. Suzanne inspires me to live every day to the fullest. Every time I see her or hear from her, she's ALWAYS talking about who she's helping at the moment. Her life has caused so many great ripples. We are all better because of her daily 100% giving.

Suzanne is a patient, a caregiver, an advocate, a friend, a mom, a wife, a spokesperson for the world of colon cancer. But most of all she is a SURVIVOR! Suzanne truly LIVESTRONG every day of her life as she has ever since being diagnosed stage IV over 10 years ago. From the streets of her community to the halls of Congress, she is a super charged Energizer Bunny on steroids....sometimes literally. And she does all this while on chemo with her laptop in hand. I have been blessed to call her my friend, and to have her wisdom to guide me when needed. God's Grace is surely present in her heart!

I have daily conversations with Suzanne, I watch her generosity at work with her postings to the YES listserve, I know about her weekly chemo treatments, and I marvel at her availability to do SO MUCH for others (eg, she has personally achieved reversal of denied insurance claims for well over 50 people). And these are some of the PUBLIC activities in which Suzanne engages. I have a taste of how much else she does that people know nothing about.....
Suzanne is a STAR in the cancer awareness world - thousands of us wish her the recognition she so richly deserves.
