Hello,
I just came upon your group - I have the Leslie Sansone DVD - and no excuses!  I just reviewed my Carribean vacation photos - and I am showing the 20 pounds I need to loose!!  It is raining and cool today, so a good day to return to my DVD.  For all of you in the snow, take care and stay warm!

by pszebras on February 8th 2010 at 11:32 am

I remember seeing myself reflected in a window, when I was at my heaviest, and thinking my reflection must have been distorted...it was by my overeating and lack of motivation to workout.  Which Leslie DVD do you have?

You CAN do it! Good for you for getting back to it - not just for the trip either - for your great health. Walk on :)

Well this weather sucks. Might end up having a few more days off this week. There's another storm coming our way. Plus record low tempts are making the roads a solid sheet of ice. My son had to go off the road to avoid a women who was spinning out in front of him. Even my hubbie said he had a few close calls, and he is a good snow driver.
Going to get my power walking in today. Hopefully won't overeat because I'm cold and bored today. Going to have to clean something. Have a great day.

I'm back, not that I was being bad on NO exercise or recording food. This snow really got us out and busy. We live on 50 some acreas of ground with my SIL and BIL of course IL under our house anyways our driveway is very, very long so trying to get it passable and getting IL driveway done to . We have been outside working for 2days. Also splitting wood after shoveling all the snow off of the wood. Keeping stove going in LR to keep us warm too.So hauling wood too.
I have to say I am worn out. I hear there might be more snow on the way. Boy I hope not. We also had to go down and help our son, to much snow on garage roof and the city didn't plow at all in there side road so they were kinda snowed in. Is winter over yet??????
Back to work tomorrow, I wonder what it looks like in parking lot up there.
Steps again yesterday way over 12,756. Today should be good too.

Hi!  I'm new to this group, and have on the Biggest Loser group for 4 weeks, and Daily Plate for a few months.
I am a total fan of Leslie Sansone.  Her workouts are realistic for the overweight, older person (I'm 41, 215 lbs), easy to follow and I like the 'you can do it', no pressure attitude.  I'm not interested in perky 25 yo barbie-look-alike dance instructors or complicated dance moves.  I also don't want to spend lots of time.  My mom introduced me to WATP 5 or 6 years ago, and I got a new dvd of hers last spring and started using it 3x a week.  Last fall I was chosen to go on a trip to work at a camp in Brazil with a team of 12 (half teens) and I knew I needed to get more fit to keep up with everyone.  I was able to pick up a few more dvds at WalMart and Best Buy and have been working my way up.  Unfortunately I haven't lost any weight with all this exercise, but with careful tracking, the encouragement of the BL group and the TV show, it's now slowly starting to come off.  Last week was the first time I tried the 3 mile workout and did it 4 days in a row.  It was really hard, but now I'm able to cruise through it energetically!  Yeah!  I picked up the kit with the weight belt, so I'm looking forward to adding that in a month or two after I can easily do the 3 miles 5 days a week.   Some days I don't have time or am too tired so I do 2 mi instead.   My core is pretty weak and needs the work.  Any suggestions?

Just keeping your core muscles pulled back during the entire workout will really help with core strength.  As you get stronger you will find yourself doing normal activities while pulling in your core...washing dishes, laundry, walking, etc.  My mom used to always tell me to pull in my stomach as I walked and did my daily activities to make those muscles stronger.  She said it was what her mother told her to do.  I guess it is not anything too new considering her mother was born in 1909.  Good luck!  Keep posting.  We love hearing about your successes and will cheer you on!

(although I joined the daily plate two years ago) I've just started using this programme and have upgraded to Gold. Since Feb 2008 I've lost five stone and put 2 back on (well almost) and I'm ready to stop that slide back to where I was.
Yesterday I walked 6.2 miles and I did the same walk again today. It;s along the coast to a retail park and back, and today's joke is that I walked 3 miles to Glyne Gap to buy a plaster for the blister I got walking there! But anyway, 12.4 miles in two days is good. I've entered all my food today, even the wine I'll drink at a party I'm going to tonight and for me that is key: what is measured is changed. Entering the data makes me accountable for it!
So anyway, I'm feeling more positive than I have in a  while: am off work with stress/depression, in huge financial chaos - separated from husband in 2008 and still haven't recoverd financially, but somehow I know that things are on the up.

Boy howdy is my buns burnin!

posted by TracyDK on 6:10 pm

So yesterday I did the 2 mile walk with Leslie and my friend Amanda at her house. We also attempted to do Leslie's You Can Do Pilates. (that stuff is evil! my core is so sore today!) :)
And today I have her 5 mile fat burning walk. I thought it was like her other dvds where you could choose to do the 1 mile, 2 mile, etc. And each one is a full exercise unto itself. This isn't. Which it's ok, I have to cool down after I walk my 2nd mile. But this video is more intense than the one I was doing at Amanda's house. And let me tell you....my buns are burnin! Which is a good thing, I know something is getting worked. Can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

Oh my gosh, did anyone see the Tyra Banks talk show yesterday? My oldest grandaughter was flipping through the stations and it came on. A women who weighed over 400lbs. was trying to GAIN weight to be 500 or would like to be be 1000 she said. her husband loved it. Then she decided she didn't want to be that big so she wanted to start losing BUT was afraid she would lose her husband. Had to turn it off because it started talking about thinks that weren't good for my 13 yr. old grandaugher. I could not believe that someone was trying to gain all that weight and here we are working so hard to lose and be healthy. She wasn't even thinking about the health issue. I just could not beleive it.
Oh well back to the real world. Didn't get exercise in, had grandaughters to late last night. My son and DIL had a meeting at high school. My oldest grandaughter goes to HS next year. I can't believe it.
Today WILL GET IN POWER WALKING AND ELIPTICAl
Might be snowed in here in Ohio this weekend. Who else out there is in the path of this storm?
Have a great day..

I am shocked!  Why in the world would someone be crazy enough to ruin their health--for someone else's enjoyment!!  Some people are nuts.

We are in the path of some more snow on Sunday into Monday.  We don't usually get this much in Oklahoma, but someone said the Farmer's Almanac predicted 22 inches for just the month of February.  We will never get out of school at this rate.

Wow.....That's really crazy!  It's scary that there are people out there that care so little about their loved ones health that they'd prefer to see them so unhealthy and out of shape. :( My boyfriend loves me as I am and wouldn't care if I didn't lose weight, however, he wants me to be healthy, so he wants me to do it for me. He says the important part is me being around longer, not larger.

New to the group

posted by TracyDK on 8:27 pm

I'll be honest, I'm very nervous. I've tried so many times in the past to "do this on my own", and I still haven't "done" it on my own. So a new approach is in order. I just feel very naked. I am not new to Leslie Sansone, I have her 1,2, and 3 mile tapes on vhs. I'm a woman on a mission and I purchased her 5 mile dvd tonight. I am so excited about doing it, and I'm here in this group hoping to find others like me. I hope that you guys will help keep me motivated.
A lil background story, I've always been heavy. And at my highest weight I got pregnant. I gave birth and had a c-section and due to complications had to deal with an open wound until the first of September. (he was born in December) Based on my own trepidation and the approval of my doctor I held off on exercise for the first year of my son's life. So, it's time to start over, and I currently weight about 25 pounds heavier than I did when I got pregnant with him. But about the same as I did when I delivered him. He's starting to walk and run and I need to keep up with him and I deserve the right to have fun with him. He deserves a Mommy who can. I have to lose almost half my body weight. I'm not comfy yet saying exactly how much that is. Hopefully one day. :)

I could do that on the weekends, but can't during the week.  I am usually to work by 7:30 a.m.  Good luck finding a walking buddy!

I can't, but be sure to post whenever you need encouragement or to share successes. We all have seen success using these videos and we all have given each other motivation. Welcome to the group!

I can't do it that late on most mornings because my 1 year old is up and there is NO way I'm going to be able to do much of anything. However, if there was any way you could get started earlier, like around 7am, I could it with you! :D

Isn't that true.
Steps yesterday 7362, not real good. I just can't back to an everyday routine. I can't understand why !!!!!!!! I do fantastic for a couple days then I skip one. I'll never lose weight doing this. I lose a couple pounds then the next week I gain it back.Anyone out there have any ideas to keep me interested in exercise everyday and eating right????? I change my workouts so I don't get bored, but I just don't have it this time. I hope this passes soon. Because my weight needs to change and my health too.
Ok done complaining.
One good thing Charlotte is back at work , so things will be back to normal. She had a great time with her son in Florida, but I'm glad she's back.

Hi I am new to this group.  This maybe a silly question but how are you calculating the calories burned while walking?  I have Leslie's walk away the pounds 1 - 3 mile but do not know how many calories I burned.   Thanks for any suggestions.

My first time out with the new higher grade pedometer.  No more random resets!  Lots of features and customizable for weight & stride length.  There's an accompanying heart rate monitor, but I want to get used to the new pedometer first before I try out the heart rate monitor.

3/4 of the way through the walk, I found a new rhythm.  It felt not so much as if I was walking but more like the walk was flowing through me.  Very nice!

Yet another great walk.  Calories burned is an approximation though since my pedometer didn't seem to actually be counting my steps. Can't wait for the new higher grade pedometer to arrive!

Another great walk.  Calories burned is an approximation though since I accidentally reset my pedometer before getting a reading from it!  I have another pedometer on order which hopefully won't be so prone to such mishaps.  It's bundled with a heart rate monitor, so I should get a much better idea of how much of a workout I'm really getting.
