Because its just easier to compare goal weights, consumption, and progress with people your own height.
The discussion below about H&M has got me wondering: where does everyone get
their "short" pants? I look around for different brands all the time, and I thought
it might be helpful if people on here could share brands they've found that work well for
shorties like us! Petite brands in dept. stores are an obvious choice, but what do
you guys buy?
I personally buy Old Navy and Gap jeans because they come in short sizes and are cheap,
though when I was spending my parents' money I'd buy Silver jeans because they had
length/waist sizes (though not fun to see your waist size on your pants, haha!).
awesome question! I wonder the very same thing.
I get mine at Express (they have jeans in "short)
and also there's petite DKNY, 7 for all mankind, diesel, the list goes on.
Im buying jeans this weekend cuz I'm swimming in my jeans that used to fit perfectly.
Ah I wish I had mones for 7 for all mankind jeans, they are SO nice. Those are no longer affordable since I'm back in school. Honestly, I find my jeans at this chic second hand store. Kind of like a name-dropping type store. So the brands vary. If something fits well, I run with it..because it's rare that I can find something that doesn't drag on the ground.
Being 5'0 tall with a 25 1/2" inseam... I'd have to say Gap ankle-length or Levis 550s short length is actually shorter than petite length. I have a pair of Luckys that are the right length and I'm not sure how that happened. :)
I have THE hardest time finding a pair of jeans that fit "just right". I have been shopping for a new pair of jeans for 2 months and have not found a pair yet. Low rise that are waaaay too low, big gaps in the waist, not to mention that I need a 6 inch heel to make most of them work. I'm not having much luck with petites either. I tried on a pair the other day of petite low rise and I promise you they stopped just barely above my most private of private parts:) I'm still wearing the same jeans I bought before my son was born and he is 5 now! It is seriously time for an upgrade. I have almost given up. Maybe I need to go to the Gap!
For those of you who are still in the midst of losing...don't waste your money on clothes that won't fit once you are at your goal. Shop at Thrift stores or any second hand store. Here in Toronto we have something called Value Village. The procedes go to diabetes, and the prices are really low, so you won't feel bad when the perfect jeans 2 months ago, don't fit anymore!
there is also a group on here called something like the sisterhood of the traveling pants that does like a swap meet type thing and all you pay is the shipping. I've never swapped anything since I haven't had any permanent weight loss but I thought it was a good idea.
My fav are Old Navy "the Diva" style..they seem to be roomy in my trouble area (my tummy) but fit everywhere else including the length :)
The thing I hate the most about Old Navy short stuff though is that it's only online! They don't sell the stuff the stores. I hear you fit about the big gap in the back. I've had that problem for years with stuff. My waist has always been smaller than my butt and thighs. Somehow I don't think that's EVER going to change! Low rise is TOO low, but I don't want to be be cursed to wear "Mom Jeans" you know? :)
Back in the early spring, I dropped a whole bunch of cash on a couple pairs of nice MAC pants, since they have the length & waist size, but even then it was difficult finding a 30 length.
I've had few successes with a couple stores like S. Oliver, but there's just nothing out here for short people. Back when I was in the states, I used to go to Petite Sophisticate and Aeropostale. Usually had luck with them.
Portgirl, I totally know what you mean. Low rise just does not look flattering on me at all, but that seems to be the popular style for some reason.
I am an Old Navy jeans girl. In fact, I am wearing some right now! (We get to wear jeans on Fridays at work). I actually find the short jeans there all the time...I have the "Sweetheart" jeans that are great because they are made for curvy girls...I totally have that hourglass thing going so I have a hard time finding jeans that fit in the waist and the hips/thighs. That's been an even bigger problem since I started weight lifting...I am one of those women that have a lot of muscle in my legs which is good except when you are trying to find pants that fit!
I have gotten a few pairs at express but ended up giving them to my sister because they are either too low rise or just fit oddly. I am sticking with Old Navy (and I won't spend the money on Lucky or Silver even though I really like them).
By the way, I cant affor seven jeans either! lol
Though I got a macys giftcard and hoping ...perhaps..maybe I'll find a pair thats not $200 bucks!
I want a pair of awesome designer jeans that will motivate me after I have a second baby.
So we will see.
But YAY FOR THRIFT STORES!!!!
Gosh, when I didnt have kids I would spend a whole day in there. . .it felt like a treasure hunt. . .loved it!
Now its look for what you need and get out ASPA before the kid starts getting fussy.
That gives me 10 minutes tops! lol
old navy, levi, and silver are my fav. jeans. but fortuantely for us shorties more and more brands are making short sizes. yay! have you looked into the cost to have your jeans tailored? i've always wondered about doing that.
Sheesh! Doesn't make any difference whether they are petite or not - I still have to shorten them anywhere between 2" and 4";-) I just do it like I have done it for the last 45 years (since my mother stopped doing it;-)
I love all of Maurices petite jeans, but I still have that gap in the back, I have a lot of "meat in the freezer" back there!!! lol!
Gap Ankle length used to fit me perfectly but I think in the past few years, it's gotten longer! I know I am not shrinking! :) So sometimes I cheat, and I buy "cropped" pants for regular people and it fits me fine! Not too long ago, I bought a pair of Calvin Klein jeans and I was amazed the length fit so perfectly, it must be an irregularity! :) I kind of got tired of looking for the perfect length, so I started hemming up my own pants, it doesn't look professionally done, but looks decent enough! :)
Thanks for everyone that caught the mistake...
