How can I get fit without losing too much weight.

Hiya
I am frighteningly unfit! I had a breakdown and barely moved for over 2 years. I saw stars when I tried to walk to a friends house, just two miles away. I've always been a low body weight, but never this unfit. A friend told me not to let my heart rate get up too much for too long if I didn't want to lose weight. Trouble is EVERYTHING makes my heart rate go up.Do you think I may lose weight then balance out again, and not to worry about it? Or is there any known things I should avoid until I'm fitter. Thanks in advance, Mel
