Let me start by saying ... this challenge was crazy! I can't do three categories again.
In other words ... I apologize (in advance) for the errors, because I'm sure somebody got
missed & my math may (or may not) be off (if I put your numbers in the wrong column,
it was categorized as the wrong exercise).
However ...
YELLOW TEAM totally blew away the Red Team. Congrats Yellow! A total of
FIVE people did:
1145 Push Ups
1627 Squats/Lunges
1015 Sit-ups/Crunches
RED TEAM'S SIX people did:
490 Push Ups
1051 Squats/Lunges
1010 Sit-ups/Crunches (really close!)
Our biggest numbers were as follows:
PUSH UPS:
idodna (Yellow) - 400 (I could only do 10!)
wendybrush (Yellow) - 300
prettygirl08 (Yellow) - 275
SQUATS/LUNGES:
Viylette (Yellow) - 685 (ouch!)
mrsshady (Red) - 465
endlessregret89 (Yellow) - 422
SIT-UPS/CRUNCHES:
idodna (Yellow's Rock Star!) - 570
bonnie1552 (Red) - 300
prettygirl08 (Yellow) - 250
I learned two things this week. (The aforementioned) 3 challenges is hard to track.
And, DON'T DO 150 crunches when you have a cold. The coughing was so painful!
On Tuesday, we'll start another Calories Burned Challenge.

My name is Caitlyn, and I love the Biggest Loser! I also love the idea of this group! Is there any way for me to get in on what everyone else is doing right now? :3
I just want to thank you ShadySally for your post on Feb 7th. Anyone who missed it
should scroll down and read it now. It sure inspired me !- I wasn't losing and I was
deciding that I was just going to be fat, fat, fat - so what!?!?
So sorry for myself that I just couldn't lose weight! and then I read your
post Sally and said she's right - I CAN do this!!!!!!!!! It might take longer and be
a little more difficult than I like but I just have to get my MIND into it and COMMIT- I
have to stop being half -hearted and half- minded! So today I hit that 10# mark and
am so happy - I have lost the 10#s I never should have gained- now all I have to do is
lose the rest. It will probably be even harder because it's been around alot
longer, but whenever I feel like giveing up I'm going to reread that post and just keep
going! Thanks again to you Sally and to all of you who are here encouraging and
inspiring every day!
BIG CONGRATS on those 10#!!! Woo Hoo! Yes, you can lose even more, and yes, sometimes the 'closer to the bone' as they say .... chuckles ... the harder to lose. But, so what? Whatta ya gonna do? Give UP? NO!
I sometimes think of Bonnie, from last season Biggest Loser, the 'older' lady with serious knee issues. We would see her sitting and working the 'arm bicycle' doing what she could, not giving up ... There's a show on my PSB station called Sit And Be Fit ... there's always a way to get our bodies moving. And there's always a way to cut back a few more calories.
It's amazing how little food the 'normal size' stomach really needs. Amazing how nutrient rich foods are often low calorie AND beneficial. Veggies, lean proteins. And how filling healthy carbs like Oatmeal can be. It is a shame how 'dependent' our culture has become to sugary processed white flour products, or salty overprocessed items. I don't even like to call these things 'food' ... they are products created to give big companies profits, not to benefit our health or our waistlines.
Here's to teaching our minds to love our bodies! And respect them as well! A BIG SALUTE to all us LOSERS!

Bob, trainer, to Megan, Loser, 'YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR MIND TO IT." It is our MINDS that need convincing... that need 'accepting' ...our bodies WILL go along with whatever our minds believe. Do we believe we're worth LIFE? Do our minds believe that we deserve to achieve our goals? Do our minds believe that we deserve HEALTH? Activeness? 'Normalness"? I hope all of us here, that have had the good luck to find ourselves on Livestrong, will understand that it is our MINDS that are in control of our weight. And I sincerely hope for all of us here, that our MINDS want each of us to have a chance at 'normal' life... healthy life, active life. With our children, our spouses, our grandchildren. This is the MOST important goal we can have in our lives, with those we love. HEALTH... normal weight. Overweight is directly connected to obesity, high blood pressure (heart disease, strokes), cancer (definitely breast cancer), knee and hip replacements, neuropathy... which leads to poor sleep which leads to chronic fatigue, Gall bladder problems/surgery, which leads to lifelong lifestyle changes (Seriously... who among us knows of a thin person needing their gall bladders removed?), Sleep Apnea...which leads to fatigue ... THE LIST GOES ON AND ON ... being overwight IS NOT GOOD FOR US! An article that I read recently said that it connected 26 different health issues to being overweight... not obese, or morbidly obese, JUST OVERWEIGHT I've rambled on too long here... but I do believe it's important AND MOTIVATING to understand what we are doing to our lives, and to the lives of those for whom we are role models. Watching Biggest Loser always gets me 'stirred up" and energized to reach my goals! It's why I love the show! So lets show that we mean it! We will lose weight! Isn't that why we are all so focused on the show Biggest Loser? To absorb the motivation we need to LOSE WEIGHT? LET'S GO FOR IT!!! LOSE THE WEIGHT!
Tuesday, January 3, 2012 we started a new BIGGEST LOSER challenge to coincide with the TV
show which started the same day. If possible,
please ONLY POST YOUR STATS BELOW, with 70+
people joined up so far, I don't want to miss anybody. This challenge will last as long as The Biggest Loser
on television, usually a few months, so…Spring.
This is our 5th weigh in with a loss, gain or we maintained. We will post our weigh in
numbers on Tuesdays. I will take the stats off at 7:00 a.m. sharp on Wednesday mornings.
Anything after this time will unfortunately not be included for that week, but you are
still welcome to post your results. The results will be posted by 9:00/10:00 a.m. the same
day.
For this new challenge, I need the following:
BW (Beginning weight on (Livestrong/The Daily Plate) (this is so we can see how people
have done on their journey since starting with this site, not your beginning weight
offline but since being with Livestrong/The Daily Plate)
SW (Starting weight with The Biggest Loser for this challenge which started Tuesday,
January 3, 2012. This is so we can see how people have done since starting with this most
recent challenge)
LW (last weeks weight)
TW (today's weight, this weeks weight)
Please post your weigh in under this blog only. With so many people participating in the
challenge, I don’t want to miss anybody.
If you have any questions, please email me and I will try my best to help you out.
GOOD LUCK BIGGEST LOSERS!!!! LET'S DO THIS!!!! WE ARE WORTH
IT!!!!!

I definitely did not see as big as numbers as I wanted this week but I'm adjusting to a new schedule and am starting some new exercise programs. I am happy with any loss! And I retook my measurements this week an am happy to report that I have lost over 4 1/2 inches with an inch each off my upper waist and lower waist! So working out is as least trimming and toning if not producing huge weight loss!!! I'm happy :)
BW: 168.00
SW: 168.00
LW: 155.80
TW: 154.7
Not as much as I would like, but it is still a loss. But, on the bright side I almost down to a size 10. About 2 more pounds and I can fit back in to my size 10 comfortably. And even though I may not see as much weight loss as I would like, I can in my clothes and my measurements.
BW: 176
SW: 176
LW: 165
TW: 164
Not as much as I would like to see but I am taking it easy. As long as there is a loss, I am OK with it.
bw 180.6
sw 175.8
lw 171.8
tw 172.3
All I can say is OOPS... to much fun this weekend. Girls night out, super bowl party...yada yada yada.. I did have fun! I am also happy to say I am down a size in clothes and the measurements are going down. Over all it is good. :)
BW: 170
SW: 172.5
LW: 166
TW: 164.5
Better than last weeks loss but would love to see 2# a week! Gotta keep working!!!!
bw 189
sw 178
lw 178
tw 174
I lost 4 pounds this week!
I so hope to have another 4 pound loss...will be hard for my 5" frame, but hey! getting to the 160's will be a major first goal for me! Would like to be 158 when we open the pool in May!
BW 311
SW 286
LW 283
TW 280
-3.0 since 1/17/12
-6.0 lost for the challenge
i have been out of town on the last two Tuesdays so missed those weigh ins, so the above change is for the period from 01/17 to today.
I am still working on this challenge. Glad to be back to a "normal" routine this week.
BW= 291

I am ONE pound away from losing 90 pounds
!!! I can't wait to get out of the 200's.
BW : 350
SW : 324
LW : 314.6
TW : 310.4
Loss this week : 4.2 pounds
Whoot! Although really that's just last week's two pound gain plus this week's two pound loss. But I'm taking credit for all four. :p
BW= 297
SW= 297
LW= 293
TW=290
I told my daughter maybe I will be willing to get on the scale every week now that I have seen a loss on the scale. It seems like everytime I would get on the scale, all I saw was 193 and often afraid to see higher. We have been working out 2 hours a day for the past week. We have also been wearing watches that track how many calories we are buring and our heartrate. It seems to be helping. Have a great week.

Up 1 pounds Gerrrrr. I didn't even want to post but i did I have no Idea what is going on with me and why i went up hoping for a better number next week.

I can start exercising again this week so I am expecting a loss next time around!
I've been a major FAIL lately (some of you will get the reference). However, I'm here and going to stay (even though I've felt like hiding). Thanks to your support, I am here and WILL DO THIS! I keep thinking that if I don't post, I can fix it by next weigh-in. Well, that gained me 8 pounds. I'm moving in the right direction (yet again) and plan to keep doing so. So, here's to honesty & accountability:
BW: 230
SW: 199
LW: 203.0

This has been a really really hard week.I let to many old habits get the best of me.

Three choices this week. Or, do all three. If you have bad arms/wrists, pick number 2; iIf
you have bad kneeds, go with number 3; working on upper body? - go with number one.
Ready?? All I ask is that you help me by tallying each challenge separately. Here we
go!
1) Push ups (shudder). Some of us (you!) are great at push-ups! Let's
see how many we can do in any given day. You may count them whether they are
straight-legged (boys'); on knees (girls'); or on the wall (or a counter); I've even seen
'beginner' push-ups done by laying on the ground and just pushing your torso up with your
arms. As always, be cautious (push yourself, but don't hurt yourself!).
2) Squats (or lunges). How many squats can you do? Go as low as YOU can
go (not as low as somebody else can go ;-).
3) Sit-ups/crunches. Again, do them so they HELP you and
NOT HURT YOU! Don't put pressure on your neck!!
Please post your totals on your team page (Yellow or Red). Again, I'll need the total for
each exercise you choose to do. I'm looking forward to seeing how many of each we, as a
group, can do. I might even be looking forward to (and dreading) the sore arms, thighs,
abs.
I've been terribly bad this week with eating :(. Ever since I got married (last year), I let my husband's bad eating habits influence me! I wish my family environment was more conducive to losing weight, because I have terrible self-discipline and end up sabotaging myself. sigh.
You sound like you have given up. I hope not. Losing weight is difficult but definitely not impossible. You have to decide - really decide - what it is YOU want and then go for it. Once you get into a habit of making healthy choices and exercising regularly it get's easier because you feel better. We are all faced everyday with bad choices, but that doesn't mean we have to make them. I have failed to make good choices many times but the more good choices I make the easier it is. Overeating and eating rich and sugary foods are called bad choices because they cause us to be less healthy. Care about yourself enough to make the healthier choices. Try plating every bite of food you put in your mouth and try to stay within your LS guidelines to lose 1# per week for the next 7 days and exercise at least 1/2 hour a day for 6 days. Tell yourself it's just one week and then you will see how you feel. Good luck.
Don't give up, you want this and that is why you're here. Ditto to what suecee said. Also, if you're going to eat something, log it first and see if it's worth it. You CAN do this and I'm sure you want it. Keep at it, give yourself credit and time. DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!! You'll be happy you did!!
Have you asked your husband about eating a little healthier away from the dinner table? My husband and I discussed why he doesn't like certain things while we were driving somewhere and it was very enlightening. And we were able to come up with an agreement about how to move forward.
Thanks ladies! I'm definitely trying! My husband got here Sep 2010 right after he got out of the Marines at 280 lbs. When I made him go to the doctor Sep 2011, he was 430 lbs! In one year he gained 150 lbs...I think he got super depressed and ate and ate and ate himself into a humongous problem--I don't think either of us can handle without help :(.
I just went shopping today and told him no more fast food...and I'm going to see a trainer for the first time on Tuesday. I'm praying that we can make some progress in the right direction and find help for him. I'm even going to make him apply to The Biggest Loser show!
I expect a completely different result for this week's challenge as IT'S NOT GOING TO BE
A CALORIES BURNED CHALLENGE! But ... the results for the past week:
RED TEAM burned the most calories! 14 participants burned a total of
26,439 calories with an average of 1888.5 calories/person.
YELLOW TEAM burned a total of 14,511 calories. However, the 5 particpants on the
Yellow Team averaged 2902.2 calories/person.
Our highest burners were:
RED TEAM:
Carla_wgm - 3810
aleaiactaest - 3697
librarydogmom - 3068
YELLOW TEAM:
idodna - 4533
wendybrush - 3784
prettygirl08 - 3768
Congratulations to each one of us who participated!!

Well as it's one of my major eating holidays, I'm sure it is a struggle for many of you
as well. My plan of attack is as follows, anyone else care to share their goals for
today???
workout in am on ellipitical
heathly breakfast: Cheerios and fruit
Lunch: big salad with lots of veggies turkey and avocado
superbowl (afternoon to evening): veggies with hummus, sloppy joe w/ lean ground beef, a
taste of chili cheese dip (splurge item), & a rice krispie bar
My schedule is protien heavy to try to avoid hunger-
2 eggs fried in 1 t of butter and 1 toast with butter for breakfast
4oz of yogurt, 10 almonds and a grapefruit half with 1/4t of sugar for lunch
an hour long leisurely walk on the beach and picture taking
1 1/2 cup of chilli with a piece of Italian bread with butter and a salad for dinner
homemade rice pudding for an evening snack
these are my favorite foods so I should be good. Gotta remember that weigh in is just 2 days away!!!
I don't think I did as bad and I could have. I had a egg and cheese sandwich on 45 calorie whole grain bread and coffee for breakfast a banana and 5 crackers with a total of a tablespoon of butter for lunch followed by 40 minutes of cycling and 20 minutes of walk run on the treadmill. Then went to a Super Bowl party where I had a sandwich that was like a sub sandwich, chili, a few chips with salsa, a little bit of potato salad. I didn't have any sweets. I think I did pretty good considering what I could have eaten. Have a great night.
Sounds like you both did GREAT
! I have to admit that I never did get out to walk but I did cut back on my portions for lunch and dinner so I stayed within my guidelines. Here's to a good weigh in for all of us tomorrow. I WILL excercise today, maybe twice.
