It's Tuesday! My Biggest Loser 'fix' roles around tonight! I'm in Pacific Time Zone, so still have 1.5 hours to wait ... back East they're deep into the show! It's always a motivating show to watch! Helen Phillips still my biggest motivation. The Season 7 winner, and the oldest winner so far. Watching her that year was a real eye opener for me, because as I was getting heavier and heavier, I had it in my head that "I'm too old to lose weight. My metabolism too slow. My body too ache-y." Just deal with it. And then there she was! Winning this battle! It was a turning point for me, in the best possible way!

American Diabetes Association Alert Day®

American Diabetes Association Alert Day® is a one-day "wake-up call” asking the American
public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type
2 diabetes. Held on the fourth Tuesday of every March, the next Alert Day will be held on
March 27, 2012.
For every Diabetes Risk Test taken, Boar’s Head® - manufacturer of premium delicatessen
products - will donate $5 to the American Diabetes Association starting March 27 through
April 27, 2012, up to $50,000.
The
But, I'm here and I'm going to be honest. I don't want to.
My starting weight, this challenge, was 199.0. The previous challenge it was lower than
that. Yesterday, I was pushing 220. Today (after low carbs & 80 ounces of wter) - I'm
at 215.0. I just finished a 3-cake birthday (nice to be loved; not so nice to break the
cake-eating record). I have been binging (not a former habit); feeling sorry for myself;
eating one ... then the rest (hence the reason there are no more Girl Scout cookies in the
house, much less the county). I actually drank 3 or 4 Diet Cokes last week (I've been
averaging a out 2/month) (historically, that was 2-4/day). I actually saw a picture of me
18 months ago and FINALLY realized that I did look OK (well, good for me). I hadn't seen
me with the realization that I looked pdg (pretty darn good). Now, however, I'm well back
into obesity. My clothes don't fit (I'm digging through workout clothes trying to find
something that will actually work).
What I've done wrong:
Allowed myself too much junk in the house; bought a dozen (when one would do); avoided you
all; eating in secret (never a good thing, especially for me); thought - oh, well, after I
had one ... then ate the rest; lied to myself (resulting in lying to you by not being
honest); quit taking my supplements; decreased my workouts; etc, etc, etc.
What I've done right:
Come back; gotten most of the junk out of my house (granted - I ate most of it, but it's
gone now); continued to work out a little bit; NOT BOUGHT NEW CLOTHES EVEN THOUGH I HARDLY
HAVE ANYTHING THAT FITS.
My plan:
Two weeks of Chris Powell's Carb Cycling. Yes - I should plan on doing it longer, but then
I'll start tomorrow, then tomorrow, then tomorrow (know what I mean?). So, starting
yesterday, two weeks.
I'm heading into a 60-hr work week (5 12-hr days). Not sure where I'll find time/energy to
work out, but I plan to try.
OK, dryer's done. Need to finish up laundry then go to Curves.
I apologize for NOT being a team player. Sadly, I would have been voted off the island
(wrong reality show) a long time ago. But, I'm here.
What this means to you:
DON'T follow in my footsteps. There are people here who have been so faithful. There are
people here who are maintaining! Read their posts. Be encouraged. You can do this. And, so
can I.
Success is measured in more than numbers on the scale. You recognized a problem and you are addressing it. I got paralyzed by depression/guilt because I got injured and ended back on my couch last year. Then came the weight gain. I can't change that but I can recognize when the behaviors that I don't want to start.
There are lots of exercises you can do at your desk. Just google sit and be fit exercise or chair exercises. These are more weight lifting but at least it is something you can do while sitting at a desk. My favorite to do on road trips is pretend I'm using a thigh master. If pretending isn't your thing use a coffee mug sideways (or something else rigid about the size of your fist) and just hold it there for about 10 minutes. This doesn't count for calories burned but it helps tone those thighs so when you do hit the cycle videos you will be better prepared.
So glad to see you back here. It's not the same without you. I can't imagine a 60-hour week ... although I worked from home for more than 40 years, and that sort of entails around-the-clock work even if it's just emptying the trash. I also could goof off and play when I wanted. You can't. Hang in there ... looks like you're on the right track.
Hey! At least you have recognized all of this that has been going on and derailing your weight loss journey. Now it's time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and jump back up on that bike! You can do this!
I don't necessarily work at my job 60 hours, but I have an extra 2 hours every M - F where I take care of my mother. I feel like all I do is work, come home, visit mother, come home, make dinner for the boys, do homework, light household chores, pay bills, monitor the teenager to make sure he has not lost his mind this week.... it gets daunting and there are not enough hours in the week. But I made the time. And you must do the same. Little adjustments to the working hours or after working hours can be done.
I now 3 x a week (this is a stepping stone to readjusting my schedule)... make it a point to get in 30 minutes of exercise. I now leave work, go directly home, work out, then go visit mom for 1.0 hour, then back home for a quick 15 minute meal for the boys, have dinner, then they do homework while I get dishes, laundry, general pick up done. And I had to do this. It is important for you to come first even though you have all of these obligations and responsibilities! Last night is a perfect example.... I left work late. Instead of going straight home to work out (generally Tues, Wed, Thurs... or maybe MOnday, Tues Thursday... etc) I knew I was running late and a 30 min work out was going to be hard. I stopped to see mother for exactly 1 hour. I got home around 7:15. Straight up to my room to change, grabbed my sheets put together with nothing but core exercises.... and I did it! Before anything was to be done. The whole routine of squats, forward lunges, calf raises, chair dips, planks, mountain climbers, modified pusheups, and 2 styles of crunches was done in 15. I went through the first set of 10 - 12.... I was dying... and then I did another set of the same exercises in the same order. Then stretches for cool down while chugging and puffing my heart rate back down. I did not stop... I did the circuit twice.... then I felt better. I did total strength using my body, took 15 minutes of my life and WOW am I sore today!
Be armed! I have several 30 - 40 minute work out routines on DVD from 30 day shred, richard simmons, to P90X Kenpo, a treadmill for 30 minute sprints/walks..... and I have me for strength training. No matter what it is get it done! It may seem there is no time... but you can do it. Pushups, squats, crunches, lunges... as many as you can twice through... it is better than nothing. :-)
Hope this helps, because I know how hard it is to find time and I know how easy it is to stress eat, guilt eat, and closet eat. I know you will be back to it in no time! So no more beating yourself up over this minor set back. Stay Strong and beat this minor adjustment in your schedule :-)
Hey RJ,
I am back from vacation! OMG! Did I blow it..20 min on bike 1x that was my exercise for the 2 weeks, Whataburger 4x, pizza 2x, Chile's 1x, Texas Roadhouse 2x, Cheesecake Factory 1x, 1 lemon drop martini, Wendys 3x, McDonalds 2x..hiking plans turned into shopping at the malls..and it was HOT!
YES I"M UP!...but tomorrow,,tracking again,,working out again..
Thanks all.
Coop - I took care of my mom for 3.5 years and don't regret a moment of that time. It was a blessing (even though there were days neither of us thought we'd survive).
Lily - sounds terrific (I know, I'm so bad). Chili's - my favorite ('healthy') meal is the Quesadilla Explosion Salad w salsa instead of dressing & no quesadillas. YUMMY!
library - I've worked at home, too. I definitely always felt like I was working (or should have been working).
kelley - thanks! My 'work' workout problem is that I work with 3 keyboards, 5 monitors, 4 mice ... and roll back and forth going crazy. It's life - oh well.
Hey - I'm on Day 3!
Shake it off RJ it happens to all of us, including me :) I'm at the same weight I was on Jan 1! But you have a plan, stick to it and try to just get out of your head about it and just do it!!
Thanks Amy. I wish I was at my January 1 weight. Sheesh! Moving on ...
I just know that I must MUST get back on track or I won't. Does that make sense? It's time to do this and be done with it. I know I'll always battle, but I won't always have to be yo-yo-ing.
rjct- I'm sorry you are struggling so much, but this just made me feel a little better. I am right there with you. I don't know why it has been so hard to get back into this and lose weight. I was just getting on here to get a little motivation and saw your post. Makes me feel like I'm not alone, all of us struggle with this journey.
hang in there everyone. we all get off track. I have been spending 99% of my days applying for jobs and maybe 1% working out and getting frustrated because I keep gaining and loseing the same 4 pounds every week. I think once I get out of the 180's I will be okay. I am also suppose to be training for a 1/2 marathon coming up in May. I want to do more, but need a job first. ttl have a great weekend.

Yesterday I wrote a new page for my website -- have a look if you like doggies. This one is in the UK and has become quite famous: http://librarydogs.com/UK-Danny.html

rjct MUST BE BUSY so I am doing the challenge this week. When she first
started these two teams, I said I would help, so now I am.
This week's challenge is (again) CALORIES BURNED. The team that burns the most calories
between Tuesday and (midnight) Saturday WINS!!
What counts? Anything that is outside of your daily existence and gets your heart
rate going. You may count walking, running, swimming, exercise classes, gardening,
etc. Track your calories using your HRM (heart rate monitor), Livestrong's database,
machines at the gym ... whatever tool you use to track. Again this is above and
beyond your normal, daily routine.
I'm requesting you please post your stats in your group under my blog red/yellow. Please
post how you've burned your calories (in addition to the calories burned). That way,
others may get some new ideas. Please post your calories burned on THIS THREAD by midnight
tonight and I will have the results tomorrow morning (Monday).
Good luck YELLOW AND RED TEAM!!

Hello :)
I've just started to buckle down on losing weight and getting back in shape, and I thought
that perhaps joining a group that will help keep me on task and accountable might actually
help me reach my goal weight. Nice to meet you all!

I had three deaths last week. My dog, my good friend's dad and a great astronomy buddy. So I haven't felt like communicating. Luckily, I didn't do my old-standby eating habit when I experience grief--put myself in a high fat carb induced sleep (aka the No. 2 combo platter at my favorite Tex-Mex place or a 1/2 pound of cookies). I am greatful that my coworker and my husband helped me not slip into that habit. I only went over my total calorie intake goal once last week and that was by 200 calories. I know I didn't need the 2 glasses of red wine but chatting with my aunt helped me through the grief of losing my dog.
Sorry to hear about your losses. But, take comfort in the fact that you didn't allow your grief to set you back on your commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Hope your grey skies turn sunny again soon! God speed.

Found this here at Livestrong and thought I'd share as we near the end of another week,
and arrive at the beginning of another weekend.

Personally, I know I need to use my head more! :)
Well, I fell mightily off the wagon, so it's pretty apparent that I'm not going to be able to make my 5% goal for the month of March. I AM going to keep working hard for these last few days to see how much I can lose before our deadline of April 1st. How is everyone else doing?
I am down to 185 from 191
. I hoping I can keep going. I am still looking for a job, so that is making everything kind of stressful. Godlover123 and I have been working out basically everyday. She has lost 100 pounds total and is now on a minor plateu. I know you can lose that 5%. There is still a couple9 or 11 days left, depending on when you are suppose to end. Me, it is the 3rd, so I have 11. Hang in there. You can do it.
Ugh I am not doing so hot at all! I know I won't be able to reach the 5% but I am rededicating myself to see how much I can lose by April 3rd!

Hi:
I just joined today. I really enjoy watching the Biggest Loser and am inspired by the
hard work and great success of the contestants. I just want to translate that into
something workable for my life. I'm also looking for a group I can join to do regular
physical exercise in the outdoors on the weekend with like-minded people who are
struggling with weight and food like I am. Anyone have any suggestions?
It's been GREAT weather in lots of USA to enjoy something as simple as walking! Does your community have any trails? Many times a town's community center arranges set times for group walks. Check out your town's municipal websites. Or do an internet search of trails for your zip code. Many sites describe scenery, quality of trail's paving, steepness of any inclines, availability of facilities, pedestrian only, sharing with bicycles, etc.
Community Centers in your town can also tell you about outdoor sessions of Yoga, Tai Chi, etc.
If you're up for it, Spring a good time to check out the offered training for charitable events like Triathalons.
Without knowing your existing fitness level, it's hard to know what suggestions would work for you.
Wonderful that your looking into opportunities for exercise... Go For It!

These lists are still wonderful to see. I am so proud of
the wonderful accomplishments of our group! WAY TO GO BIGGEST LOSERS on our journey!!!!
If you see something that isn't right, please send me a private message. (There are a lot
of people and a lot of numbers and I'm not perfect, lol). I do hope these lists are right.
Thank you!!
(I take your stats at 7:00 a.m. sharp every Wednesday morning from the posts on Tuesday
and work on them and post them usually around 9:00/10:00 a.m. Unfortunately if you post
after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, you will be not included this week, sorry).
As one who didn't lose last week, Applause Applause to all who did! Woo Hoo! And, thanks Prettygirl for your efforts here tabulating the data! And to all of us here who keep plugging away, with a loss this week or not, pat yourself on the back for sticking with the process! As one of the 'gainers' I know I'm still trying, still working for it!
I am still here .... life is a little crazy with the little baby at home. I am logging my food (as much as possible), trying not to have slip-ups during the weekends and working out atleast 5 days a week (1hr daily).
The weight is coming off ... s.l.o.w.l.y ..... I was 186.6lbs end of March - due any minute. Delivered April 2nd and today my weight is 172.8lbs. So lost 14.4lbs in the last year. People might call it baby fat .... but its my fat that I have lost.
I am also getting pinched (to calculate lean mass vs body fat). And I am proud to say I have gained 8lbs of lean mass.
I am lucky to have a great supporting husband and a wonderful instructor/trainer/nutritionalist right at work.
Keep up the good work LOSERS ....
I am not gone, just not posting my stats every tuesday.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 we started a new BIGGEST LOSER challenge to coincide with the TV
show which started the same day. If possible, please ONLY POST YOUR STATS
BELOW, with 70+ people signed up, I don't want to miss anybody. This
challenge will last as long as The Biggest Loser on television, usually a few months,
so…Spring.
This is our 11th weigh in with a loss, gain or we maintained. We will post our weigh in
numbers on Tuesdays. I will take the stats off at 7:00 a.m. sharp on Wednesday mornings.
Anything after this time will unfortunately not be included for that week, but you are
still welcome to post your results. The results will be posted by 9:00/10:00 a.m. the same
day. (If you are new and would like to join out 6-week mini challenge, please also post
your stats below. I will keep them seperate).
For this new challenge, I need the following:
BW (Beginning weight on (Livestrong/The Daily Plate) (this is so we can see how people
have done on their journey since starting with this site, not your beginning weight
offline but since being with Livestrong/The Daily Plate)
SW (Starting weight with The Biggest Loser for this challenge which started Tuesday,
January 3, 2012. This is so we can see how people have done since starting with this most
recent challenge)
LW (last weeks weight)
TW (today's weight, this weeks weight)
Please post your weigh in under this blog only. With so many people participating in the
challenge, I don’t want to miss anybody.
If you have any questions, please email me and I will try my best to help you out.
GOOD LUCK BIGGEST LOSERS!!!! LET'S DO THIS!!!! WE ARE WORTH
IT!!!!!
Forgot to post last week, but was able to stay the same - after St. Patty's day I'm still the same, so that is great. So now back to business
SW (I think it was 206.4)
LW 200.8
TW 200.8
I WILL be in ONEderland next week!!!
BW: 227
SW: 219
LW: 209.6
TW: 206.6
I weighed myself yesterday since I didn't have time today. 7 lbs until the 100's--haven't been there since last April--hoping to get there by my b-day on 14 April!
BW 350
SW 330
LW from two weeks ago 296.2
TW 310
So, I got the really bad stomach flu that's going around, lost 9 pounds on a week, couldn't exercise, gained it all back. Then I got some really really bad news at my 18 month old son's checkup (failed autism screening) and ate my way through another week, gaining 4 more pounds. This morning I'm climbing back on the wagon. Sigh.
SW 207
BW 171
LW 164
TW 164.2
First I was 164.2, then 163.8, then 164.2--back and forth depending on which foot I stepped on the scale first with. I'll use this one since it appeared most often, but it means I'm up 2/10 lb.
SW = 213.4
BW = 199.8
LW = 200.6
TW = 202.4
Up 1.8. Between being sick and TOM, this was not good. But I am finally getting back on track on on my treadmill again. 10 minutes makes me want to faint but every little bit helps.
BW 311
SW 286
LW(Feb 21) 279
TW 274
Five pounds in four weeks, not great, but at least it is a loss.
Sorry I have been gone for a while... life interrupted.. but I have been burning calories! I gained then lost it all.. Whew... back to the starting point!
BW: 189
SW: 174
LW: 176
TW: 173
BW: 178 (after the birth of my son)
SW: 156
LW: 144.3
TW: 145.5
+1.2 - TOM is not helpful to my weight loss that is for sure!
BW: 170.0
SW: 183.2
LW: 153.0
TW: 157.0
+4.0
Anniversary trip with the hubby - made a decision to go off my eating plan, so not too surprised! Here for the accountability, and gearing up for a week of dropping those pounds again ;)
