Hey Hey Hey! It's a brand new day so what do you people have to say???? Whine, Bitch, Bellow and Moan, just remember, you're never alone. Share your victories, vent your defeats, & share advice, just give our room a little of your own special spice! (Cheesy enough?)
I know this room used to have about 20 posts on average per day at least. Soo what's going
on people?? Share what's going on. I miss everybody now that I'm back nobody is
talking.....
Okay...so I guess I'll just share what I'm doing and see if I get any commentary. This is
actually an entry from my TDP diary yesterday about my new master "plan" based on a theory
based on proven health knowledge - (I come up with these all the time trying to find one
that works well for me and can accomodate my lifestyle)
Actually this is the first day of an experiment I am conducting on my own body. Over the
next Month, I am going to attempt to inundate my body with as much nutrition as I possibly
can during my regular days...This means acidophilus & other probiotics, all organic foods,
amino acids, omega fatty acids 3, 6 & 9, hemp seeds, almonds, organic fresh juices, aloe
vera juice, acai juice, lemon juice, ginger juice, tea, green tea, hemp protein, maca, raw
cacao, calcium, magnesium, vitamins, greens, fiber, protein, iron, minerals, kelp, apple
cider vinegar, etc.
My experiment is based on this theory.
The reason we crave food is because our body needs fuel, but it needs the right kind of
fuel and if not given the kind of fuel the body needs, the body will continue to give off
a signal that it is hungry until the specific nutritional need is satisfied. This is why
an obese overeater can still be malnourished if they are not eating the foods that contain
the nutrients the body needs. The body will still be hungry no matter how much you binge
until at least the stomach cavity is full, but the body will still want more more more!
The above statement is not a theory by the way, it's quite true.
My theory is this, if the above statement is true, then a body given all the nutrients
that it could possibly need will only be hungry when it needs to be refueled and if when
it is refueled it is given the correct nutrients, it will no longer be hungry, thus the
appetite will diminish and once the operator of the body is in tune with the body's needs
as compared to a mother knowing what her crying baby needs and then the operator gives the
body that nutritional element, the body should no longer be hungry until another refueling
is necessary, thus eating becomes on an as-needed basis quite literally.
Also, in my theory the most easily absorbed nutrition is both organic and liquid so I am
going on a primarily liquid diet with the exception of almonds, hemp seeds, eggs and a
once weekly dose of chicken or turkey.
In addition to this, I have added a lot of what would be considered fat-burning nutrients
to my readily available food items including apple cider vinegar, green tea, lemon juice,
acai, flax oil, coconut oil, goji, noni, mangosteen and others.
With these and other nutritional elements put into my diet it will be interesting to see
what cravings I do have and how long it will take my body to adjust to this new regime.
As someone who doesn't eat all day then has a huge lunch or dinner or both which is
typically not much of nutritional value as of late, it will be important for me to change
my schedule to eat less quantity but more frequently and to start listening to my body in
order to determine what it needs and when it needs it. I want to think of my body as a
very beautiful, very expensive, very complicated foreign car that needs the utmost in
maintenance and only the finest, highest quality fuel. Basically this very nice vehicle
has not been well taken care of and needs to be nursed back to health, fixed up....I want
to PIMP MY RIDE!!!
Haha, okay...let's see if this little experiment proves me right...
BTW, I am not a "health nut" so to speak meaning I DO eat for TASTE. I don't just eat
anything that is good for me and not have expectations that it will be tasty so if you
want to ask what it is exactly I'm having, please feel free to ask anytime, but don't
worry it's not gross. It's actually quite delicious stuff!!
Well, good luck with all that. Personally, I would not be able to live with such a diet. It makes sense. Keep us posted.
yes I have read several books and articles that support this- where I am in my life right now (in high school so living at home and I don't have a job) I could never buy thoose super foods, but once I am on my own, I do plan to follow a similar diet. I think that you should have a lot of sucess with this and I am excited to hear how it goes. also let me know what breakfasts you come up with because I can't stomach a smoothie in the morning, I always eat oatmeal.
I drink a smoothie in the morning because I am not fond of food when I wake up, but maybe a few days out of the week I might have scrambled egg whites or organic omega 3 eggs. I have heard that quinoa is recommended as a great breakfast alternative to oatmeal. You could probably toss in some slivered almonds and berries with some fresh honey or agave nectar or stevia if you don't want too much of a sugary start. I think it's a good idea to have some form of protein in the morning though so maybe a hard boiled egg or a handful of almonds or hemp seeds (which by the way organic hemp seeds are sooo cheap!) just to get some good omegas, aminos and protein in your system to get you off to a good start. At least that's what I would recommend. Thank you Jenskates!!!
You can add quinoa or oatmeal to a smoothie too. It gives some texture without tasting nasty and adds that extra whole grain element in, fiber and such. Organic almond or peanutbutter also is good in smoothies. Yes it is high in fat but you may need that if you are going liquid.
I think it can't hurt to try this out and see what happens. The one thing I would make sure is that you are getting enough calories on a mostly liquid diet. And if you are getting enough calories also feeling that fullness in your stomach for a decent amount of time.
Keep us posted.
(You look gorgeous in your wedding photo by the way! Congrats!)
I miss the daily posters too...:-( Celeste, I think your thoughts are great, however think about this:if you go from eating out and eating junk, which you said you have been doing lately to eating very very healthy you are going to feel deprived. I would say maybe slowly transition. Any "diet" where you deprive yourself is gonna backfire. So maybe take some healthy stuff with ya so your not tempted to eat out, and maybe just when you do eat at healthy restaurants that support your new lifestyle! Good Luck!
Just a thought - your teeth need to chew for good oral health. I can't believe I am saying this - but do you remember when Oprah went on a liquid diet and had some oral problems? (I only know this from friends who watch her - I don't.) You might just want to make sure you don't sacrifice the health of your mouth for the health of the rest of your body.
i would neeever be able to keep all of those things straight. lol I need a really SIMPLE eating plan. Like..... things I can pronounce, to start! lol and if my grocery list is longer then I am tall I lose interest waaaayyyy fast!!! lol good luck celeste! i know you can do it, youre just amazing like that!
FYI - It's not exactly a total liquid diet. Like today I had chicken chili with beans in it and some chicken pieces and I also have hemp seeds and almonds for chewing and you know almonds take a lot to chew! I'm not feeling in any way deprived actually jonahgavinmom, I think mostly because the chili I selected for today was to help me transition as it wasn't a completely liquid substance and it was really meaty and even had pretty high sodium than I'd ideally want.
Don't worry, I'm chewing, I'm transitioning and I'm far from depriving. I'm also keeping my calories high because a lot of the items I've selected like the flax oil, almonds, hemp seeds, protein powders, etc are not at all low in calories. I've though it pretty well out, but if you find a loophole or if I find one I'll let you know and you guys can see my daily plate to see some of the other things I'm eating. It should be fun and hopefully, most importantly it should help me feel great. Nutrition is especially important when you're going through emotional things to help you stay above the water so to speak and not get trapped by depression which can not only be brought on by tragic or stressful events, but the poor eating habits one develops during those times...which only exacerbates the "crappy" feeling.
I don't want to go there. Been there before and I'm too happy a newlywed to get depressed even if it is a sad thing to go through when a parent passes away.
Our bodies are made to eat and eat and eat. It's an instinctive urge that is there because early in history we were hunters/scavengers. Our bodies have not adapted to the 'food readily to eat' lives we now have.
My point? Eat. Eat often. Eat foods that are whole, as close to nature as possible, and stay accountable for your portion sizes. Exercise. Exercise often. Move around as much as possible every day. Cleaning your house does not count as exercise. Riding in a car does not count as exercise. lol Brushing your teeth does not count as exercise. I have seen these things logged as exercise on some people's logs :)
Supplements are great...take them if they help you stay motivated. Take them if you feel that you need them. I take B vit's and Iron everyday (I'm a veg)...am I sure that they help? No. But they make me feel better :)
Again, my point? It's about a lifestyle change...not a diet. Diet's end. Eating right and exercise shouldn't. Good luck to everyone and their commitment to a healthy life!
