This is a group for Type 2 diabetics who follow carbohydrate-controlled diets (Atkins, South Beach, Zone, etc.) but all interested parties are welcome to join, contribute & be supportive! Serious discourse and heartfelt support with a generous splash of laid-back levity!
Hi Grammy!
I am Janet...I am going to go to the grocery store Monday...so I am waitng to restart
then. I need to get my rear in gear!
Hi Janet ... you might not have to wait to start.
When I started, I used what I had on hand and proportioned and weighed to match my calorie goals. Why not?
My premise was that I am going to have to live the rest of my life by choosing foods I like as well as correct portions.
As a diebetic, note sugar counts as well as calories or carbs on each product's label or do a search and use the item labels and measure the amount you need to fit your goal.
The most amazing thing about TDP is it enables us to make up our own diet to suit our own taste!
From my own experience, This is the ONLY way to maintain your weight AFTER you reach your goal.
So use what you've got and begin to take control!
Cute baby, by the way! As a Mom, what you are learning now will keep your family healthy.
My Mom didn't have standard labeling to help her plan meals. What she did was "put something brown + something white or yellow + something green" before us for at least 2 meals a day. And her rule was we could have something sweet only AFTER we had these items in our tummy.
I didn't develop health problems until after I left home and "got to choose for myself!" Of course I was "smarter" than Mom and suddenly saw the world as a smorgasborg of sweets!
I lost teeth, gained weight, and began my career as an "accordian". Now my goal is to retire from being an "accordian". To do that I've got to enjoy my meals.
