We are committed to exercising and sometimes it helps when you are responsible for telling others what exercise you did each day. This group is for those who wish commit to exercising everyday. Your computer won't blow up and all you'll get is encouragement if you don't meet your goal on any given day.
Last year due to multiple physical problems I never rode with a group on Saturdays,
as has been my custom regularly in years past. I like at minimum one group ride
a week for all the right reasons, most of which involve safety on longer rides. This
early in the year, riders are fewer and the rides are shorter as the "winter
legs" turn into "spring legs". This past couple of weeks I was
invited by the main local cycling shop whose competitive team I rode on for many
years to lead a group of beginner triathlete cyclists. Well, today was the first
ride, and I entered into it with some trepidation. I rode at the back for the entire
ride, with a helper at the front. I had to go back twice on a long hill to help
a couple of stragglers. It was only about 50 degrees with wind when we started and
ended, and I'm glad I wore my long pants for perhaps the last time this season.
When it was all over, we had stayed together (mostly), ridden a nice 20 mile ride in about
an hour and 20 minutes, and we had ridden safely, learned some skills, and had some
fun. Time later for things like interval training. The pace line riding builds
your legs and endurance, and that was beautiful on a spring morning while the birds sang
and the trees bloomed.
After the ride, my husband went with me shopping (never ever do this ladies it was like a
caged animal was in that department store). I promised him we would eat Mexican
food for lunch if he went, so I pigged out on bean and cheese burritos and guacamole and
chips and even Corona. Needless to say, I am still stuffed and won't be eating
tonight. It felt like a celebration anyway, mostly because we were out of that
store, but also just because it was a Saturday to remember.
Great ride Lhisa - glad you could get back in a group.
Us husbands are not that good in Dept stores, so when I go with my with wife I go other places and then we meet up or call
Was it a Corona light?
I bet you stil have that old competitive side to you, so it must be frustrating at times to slow down. Good you could get in with a group of riders. Do you ride double or single file?
