Hi everyone!
I missed you all! Definitely feeling very guilty for taking this entire week off besides
the 2 times I went running... However I am very enthusiastic to get back to training and
have signed up to run the 5 K in 2 weeks! Sooo excited!!! My goal is to finish under 30
minutes. I think I can do it!
I will begin training on Monday when I return back to school . I am also planning to run
the half marathon this summer and fall season. The most important is that I do not injure
myself again so I will train carefully. Keep the energy going everyone!!!
I always come on here in the mornings before exercise so I can never post if I exercised or not! I took a slow down break this week because I find my workouts to be pretty intense. I just started learning how to hike with my girlfriend. Today we picked a great place by a small lake. There were TONS of climbing up and down rocks. It was exciting. Exercise feels so different outside compared to inside. I am in to ST and cardo and have my routine pretty set, but I find I add in outdoor walking/hiking more and more. We hiked for 75 minutes and I burned 515 calories. I feel good!

Another day of weights and tried the ellip machine today. It was hard! Enjoyed myself. Burned 150 on ellip (only 16 min it was h**** my feet) 430 during weight lifting total 580 burned today. Plus a full 5 hrs of shopping! phew I'm tired.
.....The Hunger Games lies ahead so just an hour today too - 780 cals though as pushed really hard!
Hey Guys,
I stopped logging my diet & exercise when things got a little crazy at work. Though, I
was still trying to eat well and get my walk in daily. I did a 45 minute brisk walk/jog
mix. It felt good. In other news, I'm down 4 lbs. this month. I met my goal, which was to
lose a pound a week.
I'm two pounds away from my feel good summer weight : )
I'm into day 11 of scheduled workouts 6 days per week, and one off day (Mondays). I used a heart rate monitor today to more accurately track my calories burned. I just joined this group intending to make it a place to receive and give support. If you took the time to read this, thanks!
Good for you! I just started this last week and I already bombed a few days both on my diet AND exercise but I'm back on track now. I'm on day 6 but I haven't committed like you have. I joined the Miles club (or something like that) because I planned to walk and bike to get into shape and it gave me accountability for my miles over the month. I'm not as ambitious as most on here but I'm trying to do something that I'll stick to for once! I'm trying to do 54 miles this month, mostly in walking but I had to cheat last week (and use the bike) to get in 12 miles for 3 days! Anywho, good job and good luck! Keep up the good work!
I tried to take a small break from my normal workouts this week. I needed some down time. I have never officially taken down time. It is uncomfortable and I feel guilty. Plus - I have to fill in 90 - 120 hours of my day. (I work from home so I have time to fit it in any time during the day). I am hoping that next week I am raring to go. Today I am planning a light hike just to get outdoors.

No exercise today..........but I will be working hard around the house. I am preparing
to go on my camping trip, surfing and cycling holiday in Cornwall. My first dip in the
ocean since last October, the sea is too cold here, so I hope it has heated up a little.
See you all in a couple of weeks. Happy exercising everyone

Hi all - new here. I try to do an outdoor boot camp 4 days a week and the running or a barre class 2 other days. Today was boot camp @ 5:50 AM and I made it. Plus 2 10 min walks with the dogs.
Slept in for rest and did 30 mins jog on treadmill and 30 mins on bike for about 600 cals
burned.
Will be up early as normal tomorrow.
bike to work and shoulder workout at the gym. This is the first good workout of the week. The others have just been ok.
My middle name is GYM. lol. Gym again today 1.5 hrs lifting weights 35 min cardio.
Thinking about going back again tonight for some more cardio.
On a side note my home scale broke. This makes me sad
because now I have to use the gym scale and I'm 7 lbs heavier there! (after breakfast
and being dressed). So BLEH
That is great GYM work Jessy, you are doing so well. I weighed my clothes the other day and they were 1.5 lbs so that is another bit of weight that is not me. You could be surprised at how much extra that adds onto the scales.? I try to weigh myself naked now, but I would not surggest that in the GYM
! he he!
Nudist gym? Ewww haha. Yeah I have full workout clothes and shoes on when I weigh at the gym so I'm sure that's some of it
or just don't weigh yourself I have totally got rid of my scale & just use the measurements of a tape measure to track my progress. scales are evil...lol.
Great workout! I am trying to wein myself off of the scale. I just started maintenance and I have gained 1.5lbs. I keep telling myself that it is my body adjusting to more calories. I measured myself and there was a very slight change but nothing to be concerned about. If I were to stick to t.m. and how my clothes fit me there wouldn't be such a roller coaster of feeling for me! Now all I have to do is lose that 2 lbs - haha!
I'm in pretty good shape, but yesterday I decided to amp up my leg workout because I want to get them nice and slim and toned. I walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes as a warmup, then I did 3 sets of 15 squats, lunges, then plie squats... all with a 10 lb dumbell in each hand. My legs are super tired and sore already!! I was physically able to do this, but I don't know if I should be... I don't want my legs to get big! I just want them to be lean and toned. Should I lower the dumbell weight? Should I lose them all together? Or is 10 lbs in each hand fine as long as I can do 15 reps? Please help me with this before I end up looking like Ronnie Coleman! ;-)

I haven't been here lately because I haven't been on my treadmill last week because of a bad cold and now this week I've had a migraine. It's aways something lately. To make matters worse, I went to the doctor yesterday and they told me my triglycerides was quote "really, really bad. It was so high...like 530ish. And here I thought I was eating decent, but guess I was wrong. So anyway, I've got to eat even better than I had been and I need to get back to exercising because apparently my life depends on it. They said I was high risk for heart disease. My migraine has lifted some, so hopefully I can get back to the treadmill in the next couple of days. I hope everyone here is doing great!
I have been working quite a lot at home recently so today I decided to go out into the
fresh air and go hiking along the coastal path, I thought I would share some of my
pictures with you. Very steep and narrow path, you can see in the distance.
Great hike and
the most beautiful blue ocean. Went 3 miles before I turned back. Hope you like them.
Finally got to the gym.
What I did:
32 min on treadmill - 278 calories ( I could have pushed harder but I did weight training
first and my legs were wasted)
45 min or so weight lifting. Working out the biceps, triceps, back, legs, chest, and
shoulders
Lots of fun and glad to finally be back at the gym. Getting sick sucks! Going roller
skating tonight for some more cardio.
Hey everyone, I'm back!
Currently home for a weeklong break and things have been fantastic; I get to spend time
with my family and eat delicious food, so there was less motivation to find time to
exercise BUT that's still not going to stop me! Today I got to go run at a park near my
house in the early morning. After years of visiting that park I have not ever ran as much
as I did there today so it was really interesting to see that contrast in my physical
ability. Afterwards I did some workouts from videos online, here's one that I used which
you can try too (it left me out of breath really quickly!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCMOti3
Ana8
Today's workout:
Running-25 minutes
8 minute abs
10 minute workout
Tabata Tuesday.....!!!! great workout---made up for yesterday, not as tired and a much
better effort![]()
Up early and pushed really hard for 30 mins on the elliptical for 414 cals burned.
Will do some more later!
I worked on my core muscles and abs, burned 650 cals on the treadmill, rowing machine and ellepticle. I am focused on losing my target of one pound (or more) per week and so far I am. .......But also keeping on target for my fitness.

Today I did the Insanity Workout - Pure Cardio Workout...I will be doing this 3 times a week!
Today, I did a step aerobics class and did the elliptical for 30 minutes. I had to work off the apple pie a la mode I had on Sunday!!!
So I did not work out today, but only because I lifted yesterday. Yesterday's lift was
the end of my first week on a workout plan and it felt awesome. I am pretty psyched to
get week 2 under my belt. Definitley feel like the momentum is building and will make it
easier and easier to go and just do it.
Thanks all
my exercise goals today:
~ strength ~ arms
~ stability ball
~ 30 mins cardio
on a positive note i'm down an 1" in my waist woo hoo
I'm new to this group and new to exercising. I have been sedentary for the past two years and only recently started looking at my weight and fitness levels. At any rate, I walked 1.3 miles this morning.
5:30 class done !!! not my best, was tired but got it done. may try for something else
later----we'll see
30 mins on the elliptical - 383 cals - have nightmare day at work ahead but will be back later!
After doing some of the garden this weekend in the sun and sorting out some of the
housework, I felt exhausted. But I know that I worked hard, because I slept on until the
alarm went off this morning and that has not happened for a while. I am going to try to
aim to burn off 600 calories at the gym today and focus on core exercise to strengthen my
back
(for more digging the garden). I am going camping at the end of the week for a surfing
and cycling holiday so I also need to get into shape for that!

901 cals; from 90 mins on bike, treadmill and elliptical.
Not as much as a usual Sunday but I did start painting the garage today too!
Bad weekend for exercise. Everyone in our house (we have multi generations in one house)
has a cold. So not too much exercise going on. Though I'm feeling a bit better so I've
been working around the house.
Staying on my eating plan and continuing to lose weight. So that's important too.
Hopefully this cold passes us by quickly and we don't keep sharing it!
sw - 223
cw - 216
gw - 170 to start :)
Im sore as heck...But Im Worth It! This site is such a help, tracking my calories, my
exercise and the like minded people keep me motivated!
A little longer commute than to my school. It is about 20 miles round trip to the bike shop and back. I almost feel guilty claiming this as exercise since it is just sort of a lifestyle. Everybody that works has to get there one way or another.
5:00 am monday---- will be here in like......20min
Everyone enjoy your day!!!!!

Today, I walked around the mall for an hour or two pushing my baby in the stroller. I wonder how many calories I burned walking at a shopping pace.
then I realized that today is my moms bday.. no 2 hour work out session for me.. just me
trying not to offend my mom because she asked for beef roast for dinner.... I dont really
eat red meat anymore, and i feel like she tries to get me to eat it EVERY time I go over
there for dinner..... Its her birthday... I only have 400 calories left and I really dont
want to go over... I really want to get to my goal this time and stay there :/
i did have a late lunch though... sushi!!! So hopefully I will be able to get away with a
large dinner salad and a little bit of beef and potatos.... we'll see though
Went to the gym. Did some leg exercises w/ weights and spent 25 minutes on the treadmill.
Not a large calorie burn day (maybe 250) but I did 5 hrs of shopping so that counts for
something too!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday.
Shopping...ughhhh!! i know i am strange woman (my coworkers tease me about this all the time) the idea of 'true torture' is having a day at the mall----
. i must've had a personal shopper in my former life---lol
I am really excited because I hike what I would consider a "mountain" today. I have just begun exercising outdoors and I am hooked! The weather is beautiul here in central AZ (not hot where I live, like everyone pictures AZ to be) and we have some great hiking trails all over the place. My girlfriend and I took a leap and decided to hike the "mountain" today and when we were finished I felt so energized I almost did it again. She looked at me like I was a nut job, so I will just settle for doing it again soon.
excallent!!!!some people just dont understand that kind of feeling.its a great drug to be adictied too.enjoy it
livestrong
I live in southern Az (Tucson) and the hiking is amazing here. I go often. Personally I prefer to hike in late fall and early winter. It's now starting to get a bit hot for my tastes 50-60's are perfect for off mountain hiking. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
I love AZ!! I just moved from Tennessee back to New Jersey and I am hate hate hateing the weather!!! GRR.
Jessy - I have only been to Tucson once and it was years ago. I am hoping that it isn't to hot to hike here during the summer. My girlfriend and I are talking about getting up early to do our hikes. We found a hiking club which we want to join. We have to learn how to follow trails - we always end up off our trail; eventually we do find our car but it limits us on how off the beaten track we will eventually be able to go! We are hoping the group will kind of, I don't know, "teach us" how to follow little lines on a map in the mountains!!!
Ksynder - That has to be hard living somewhere that you hate so much! Since I live about 1-1/2 hours North of Phoenix area we don't get the blistering heat (gets to about 100 in summer) but we get colder winters. I was just in TN/KY this past April and boy was it beautiful! I'm not used to green! Have you visited AZ? Has it just been Phoenix area or have you cruised the state?

I'm not sure how to calculate my calories burned beause I vary my run so much. I guess I
did "intervals" on my treadmill... My starting speed was 3.5 mph. I upped my speed by .5
mph for two minutes and returned to my starting speed for two minutes, then upped it an
ADDITIONAL .5 mph for two min and back down to the starting speed for two.
3.5 mph
4.0 mph
3.5 mph
4.5 mph
3.5 mph
5.0 mph
etc.
I did this for 30 minutes and was on a 2.0 incline. The treadmill said I burned 260
calories, but I hear they aren't so accurate? I weigh about 165 lbs. Does anyone know an
accurate way to determine the calories burned?
I don't know if this will help... I am on a similar workout:
3 incline
4.0 5 min
4.8 1 min
4.4 2 min
etc
I am 128.8 lbs. I calculate at about 6.3 calories per minute. I did this on a gym treadmill where you enter all of the information. My home treadmill doesn't allow for the weight/age/sex info so I don't follow it. If I did, I would be thrilled because it shows about double what I calculate! You could adjust a little here and there if you are a different weight than I am. Hope this helps.
That's what I am worried about! Haha I don't want to be doing this routine and only be burning off 130 calories. Ahh!!
Exactly! I burn that sitting on the couch watching TV! I want to feel like I am gettng something out of this!
I have had 8 foot surgeries so I can't jog at all! I have to walk my ass off. For some reason the walking doesn't kill my feet like the jogging does!
Maybe try swimming or doing the rowing machine. Those are awesome workouts with out the strain on your feet
Lovetolaff- Jogging is harder on your joints!
cecans- I don't have access to a gym... yet. Hopefully soon tho because I love swimming!
I can't swim! I sink! I am going to Hawaii mid April and we are going snorkeling. We go every year and I have to get a noodle! My girlfriend thinks it is all in my head - I think it is in my butt, personally!!!
I have heard that rowing machines Kick... Your... A**!! Supposed to be a great workout!
I was a lifeguard for a few years--anyone can swim if you've got a good teacher! Maybe you should sign up for swim lessons!! It's a great workout and way more fun than sitting on a treadmill...
The only true way is a heart rate monitor. Or be happy with it being 90% accurate, but just keep exercising.
Anyone able to recommend a good one? I can't afford to go crazy - especially because if I get one my girlfriend will also want one :)
Haha I didn't mean literally! I just find it so uninteresting, but as it's my only option right now that's what I'm doing. Just look up gyms in your area. I enjoy the ones that offer lots and lots of group classes--they keep it fun and interesting!
I am pretty happy with my workout for now. I have the treadmill and stationary bike. I do a strenous circuit training program. I have just begun hiking. I am kind of intimidated by gyms because I work out to sweat! I don't go to look good!
There is also a great workout site at:
bodyrock.tv
You barely need any equipment, and the workouts are intense! The only "must have" is an interval timer, which you can download on your phone if you've got a smartphone. They post new workouts almost every day. I haven't worked up the courage to try one yet but I've been wanting to.
My sister is a bodyrock.tv junkie and she says some of them are really brutal! She has been working out, faithfully, for years and is extremely fit, so I'm not even going to open the site!!!! Well... I will some day, but I am definitely not there yet! If you do it, post about it and let us know how it is!
I use a heart rate monitor,, it is accurate but only if you put your correct weight , height....etc..... then it calculates as your heart beats so if you go faster it works that out in calories.
Mind me asking which HRM you use? I have been kind of asking around. I am looking for a mid-price range one that doesn't have to have every bell and whistle there is to get you to the moon. I am really looking for something to show me my HR and my calories burned. Does yours have a chest strap? Do you find it uncomfortable, if so?
The HRM I use at the moment only cost a few £/$ from Amazon, I use the chest strap to track my calories and heart rate when I am on the treadmill as it picks up the heart rate on there while you are running then the treadmill converts it to calories, but the watch side of it is just ok for the money but I am looking to buy a new watch maybe a garmin, a bit more expensive, but if you run a lot I think it is worth it.
Sometimes I just watch the bodyrock workouts and sit in awe of them. Haha. I want to try one soon tho, but I am afraid I won't be able to get through it and then will be too angry at myself to workout for a few days... I should definitely look into a heartrate moniter. Because any exercise I do I have to change my pace or what i am doing every few minutes or I get bored.
Did 21 miles on my stationary bike, burned 1040 calories, feels good! Maybe I'll get another 10 miles in later today...
I exercised every day this week. I use the treadmill, stationary bike, and vigorous circuit training (MRT). I burn up to 600 calories averaging 100-110 minutes per day using various combinations of those. How are people burning 1,000, 1,200, 1,500 calories? Is it weight/age difference? Is it the type of workouts I am doing? I get myself going pretty good - no lolly gagging here... I would love to know how to burn so many calories!
Age/Sex/Size is a big factor. I burn a lot more being a 310 lb person than someone who is 150-180. Likewise my husband is 6"7 and a large guy and burns a lot of calories. These factors will make the difference in your burn.
So basically, if I am 130lb I can let go of the idea that I will ever be burning 1,000 - 1,500 calories? lol :( I would love to have to make up that calorie burn in my daily food intake! Healthy of course :)
You would need to stay at the gym for like 20 hrs lol. It's not impossible but it would be really hard for you to burn that much :(
If a person carries more weight their rate of cal burn may be higher, but with respect to everyone here (inc me) people who are closer to their target weight, (although their rate is not as good) can burn harder and longer. For example running for an hour at 9/min mile pace requires a high degree of fitness but also burns 1000+ cals. So it is possible, you just need to build the strength (card and muscle) to do it.
I guess, by reading up above, a heart rate monitor will tell me most accurately? I didn't know they gave an amount of calories. I was just going by what LS and the treadmill say. I am at (actually slightly below) my goal weight, and I think I am pretty strong. I work out 5 days a week, plus light activity on the weekends. I was just a little surprised at the numbers that people are saying! I was excited when I hit 600! But 1,000!!! I'd have a Starbucks for that! (ff milk of course!)
Today was my first day doing weight lifting. It was awesome! Hard... and I'm weak.. very
weak but I can't wait to do it again.
Also did treadmill for 25 minutes. Will be going to the gym again tonight for some more
cardio.
Bicycle commute to work again and have a shoulder shredding workout planned for this evening.
Thx, i really luv early am workouts our class starts at 5:30, if i had to workout in the evening I would hate it

Haven't had a day off of exercising since last Monday. Might be taking a day off tomorrow but I love the gym so much I don't know. We will see.
Still doing my normal gym type stuff :)
Hope everyone is getting it done!

You know I abetting it done Jessy; not many people posting though. Take a day off and rest, your body builds fitness when you rest.
If you can't stay away, work some different muscles or build endurance - say 30-40 mins on the treadmill at a moderate (say 5-8%) incline.
Whenever I fancy an easy day I do 30 mins at 3mph and 10% incline!
Or just go for hike; we're missing your photos!
Been out of sorts but back in the saddle........

Really hard week, was the 2nd anniversary of my mom's passing. I worked out 5 days (my norm) and ate fairly well but i was pushing it, all week. I love the spring but it's a hard time. With all that being said gonna do something to celebrate her rather than morn all spring. Today is the 1st so I'm gonna do a 60/60 challenge. I did it last year and it was fun, 60 mins of exercise for 60 days. Here Goes........

That's sad cincy; time's a great healer though, my Mum passed 16 years ago almost to the day; I don't think you ever truly recover.
I'll do the 60/60 with you - so that's at least an hour a day from today till the end of May! I'm in! Oh and today's done already, but I'm going to do some more hopefully later!

Sorry to hear about your mom, cincy. Losing a family member is rough. I lost my husband 10 years ago. Like nex said, with time the pain will not be so sharp, not to say that it will go away. I think your plan of 60/60 is a great idea!
