About This Group

Heart rate monitors have got to be one of the best motivational fitness tools out there. You can keep track of your body's exertion during workouts and compare that directly to your dietary intake. Best of all, you can share your workout results with other HRM users here who can provide great feedback and support. Share things like: Calories burned, Max HR, Avg HR, or whatever other results you want.

Which HRM?

posted by JeffandLiz1 on 3:16 pm

I have been looking at HRM's for awhile, I need help choosing one.  Been concentrating on the Polar and Nike brands.  I want a watch type monitor, not a bike mounted monitor.  I do run once in a while, of course I prefer biking, but want the flexibility.  Any suggestions?

I'm a big fan of Suunto HRMs, although the extra features come with a price.  For your all around fitness needs, a Polar (F6 or above) will you do you justice.  Whats great about it is the accuracy and ability to input your METs (Metabolic equivalents) which if known, will give you the closest estimate to your heart rate and Calories burned.  Good luck in your search, you'll be happy you invested in an HRM!

I checked those out and like them alot.  The price scared the holy crap out of me.  My wife bought the F6 and likes it.  Thanks for your input!

I've recently got the Polar F7 and am getting along with it quite well :o)
