This is a group for all those out there suffering from Fibromyalgia and/or Chronic fatigue syndrome and know how hard it can be to lose with these conditions
My PCP sent a referral for an occupational therapist. I don't really know what to expect. Has anyone been to an OT? Did it help? What did they do for you?
I was very against medication and then I hit rock bottom with so much pain, I could not function. I then decided to give medication a try and it took the "edge" off the pain. I started with Lyrica, but had an allergic reaction to it. My doctor then put me on Cymbalta and I feel so much better. I still have pain, but not as bad as before.
I feel it the most when I am under stress and so that is where excercise comes in handy. I started going to therapy where they treat my back pain, acupuncture, and massages for my feet (I also have foot pain), and my shoulder upper back area. The massage hurts while it is being done as they really push on the muscle, but afterwards its like a ton was lifted off my shoulder. I also started some hatha yoga at the doctors and it is soooooo relaxing. I used to workout at home, but have been so busy with work and my daughter's activities it's hard to find time.....but I am going to MAKE time as I felt much better when excersising that w/out it.
Somebody posted that the medication also helps your moods and it sure does!! Before everybody always asked, "what's wrong, you look so tired?" I was in so much pain I was miserable. After being on cymbalta for the past 2 months, I don't feel as tired, irritated, or down. I get really down with the pain, but now I feel more optimistic!
