I am a mother of two wonderful daughters. They are 19 and 16 years old. So as you see
my baby is 16 years old. My two girls I had through C-Sections, therefore I have two
incisions on my lower stomach (not attractive). The big issue is irregardless how many
sit ups I do, or how many crunches it appears this part of my belly is dead and the fat
just won't go away. Now that I have lost 30lbs I still can't see that this part of my
belly will disappear.
Surgery??? Do you think that could be the only solution?
My wife used to say the same thing. In fact, she was one of those women who said (adamantly), "I can't have a great body! I have had 3 children!" She had the last one by c-secion.
Well, she's FINALLY solved her fitness puzzle. This year, she went from a size 7 to a size 2. She is a big runner. The right diet, the right exercising... her stomach (I just can't say 'tummy') is as tight as a drum.
She was extremely hard to convince, but now that she's done it, she's the first to remind mothers everywhere that it can be done.
Clean diet + Regular exercise + PLENTY OF TIME! (It's not a race.) That's what you need.
Mark, are you saying your wife did this just by running or does she do other exercise?
CLEAN DIET means different things to everyone. To me it means eliminating as much processed food as possible but I've seen people post "clean diet" and you look at their food logs and there's all this processed crap there and supplements and chemicals. What's everyone's definition of CLEAN DIET?
Thanks Mark for the encouragment. I have a ways to go to hit a size 2 but now that it can be done I feel there is hope.
I feel much better now, I was beginning to think I will need surgery.
Hi, penny!
She does a real basic resistance training routine as well. Mostly, she's running up to 8 miles at a time and she's learned that she has to eat. In fact, she told me this morning... "I eat breakfast, then a morning snack, then this, then that... I never ate so much food in my entire life!"
I said, "I know."
What I can't understand is why people don't want to believe that this is the way to do it right?
If you can eat MORE... more times per day... never be hungry... lose weight, burn fat, etc., wouldn't you WANT to do that?
It frustrates me that people make this SO much harder then it needs to be.
Clean diet (to me) = real food. Quality food. Not junk food. Not fast food. Sometimes things are going to be processed, but keep that to the minimum.
Ooooohhhhh, I live for my food schedule. The more I can eat and stay in my goal ranges, the better I seem to do. It's incredible. AND I LOVE IT, when I eat well all day and I'm STILL below calories. Suckas, those calories.
(P.S. Great group idea.)
Newfie: A girl at my last command used to workout tons too and still had trouble with that area. For her, she actually found that the scar tissue build up was so significant, it was contributing to the pooch and she had to have it removed, then she was good to go. I'm not a 'push surgery' type of girl at all, as my leg will never be the same since ACL reconstruction; however, it worked for her and it wasn't important enough to her to get it.
As I lose, I notice I have "shar-pei" skin on my lower abs. My stretch marks are SIGNIFICANT. Really really bad. I am scared that this jiggly skin won't ever tighten up totally and my lower belly will rival my grandmothers saggy neck skin!
It's also possible that what you are seeing is loose skin, not fat and/or diastasis of the abdominal muscles.
I agree with Mark. It's a slow process, but it can be done. I have had 4 C-sections. Once I reach my GW, I plan to post before and after pics. Hang in there girl! I'll be your personal cheerleader :) You can do it!!
TGally described it exactaly..it looks like a pouch of something. I think it is fat, as I can squeeze it and I said it is not pretty. Where the incisions were the skin is dead so that is why I am unsure it will ever go away. I am being optimistic that diet and exercise will help. I am going to give it a year (Jan 09) and if nothing I will go to my doctor and see what he recommends.
Thanks guys, I will keep trudging along.
