If you are 40+ (or any age for that matter)and finally committing to becoming 'Fit and Fabulous' for the first time or the hundreth time, this is the group for you. Weight loss at any age is a challenge, but often the challenges are compiled with so many other "opportunities" (eeek!) when you get to a certain age. So... this group is about INSPIRATION, COMMUNICATION, and TRANSFORMATION. Oh.. and losing a pound or 2, or 35, or 100, or etc....
Good Morning everyone and the weekend is here!! I hope everyone is doing well. As I have
shared previously I'm really having a hard time to lose weight since January after losing
almost 30#. I've mainly been doing my Gazelle and lifting some weights but I want to
get some exercise video tapes to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? I
have the Leslie Sansone's walking tapes but need something different.
I appreciate any suggestions and why you like the videos you use.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and it is cooler than where
I am! It's to be close to if not 100 degrees here today! UGH!! That's why I
need to work out inside.

Hi MAB! Well, as a Gazelle owner, I think its time to graduate to Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred. There are 3, 20 minute workouts (3 different levels) on the DVD. When you get good at the first one move to the 2nd.
Also research how to use your target heart rate to guage your workouts. Then to start with try to get above 40% capacity. I try to push myself, usually to about 60% of capacity, which puts my pulse rate at around 150 beats per min. If you're not sweating, you're not pushing it!
Depending on how advanced you are w/ the Gazelle, Tony Little used to have videos for the Gazelle. I have them on VHS tapes still. I found those at TonyLittle.com. I got to a point with the gazelle though where I couldn't get it to go beyond 5 mph and I wasn't sweating. I had to start using the treadmills on an incline at the gym at work.
Tomorrow, my husband and I are starting week #2 on the P90X program. We really like it. It combines a nutritional plan along with a different exercise program each day of the week for 90 days, that changes again at day 30, day 60 and day 90.
It is fairly tough with push ups, pull ups, weights, karate type workout, yoga and cardio.
Thanks for the info ladies! I may try the Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred, but I think the P90X is a little to much for me at least right now. I want to get something that I'm going to "enjoy" and also get a great work out. Anyone else have any suggestions?
Hi Mab,
During the winter, when I am not riding as much, I do the Wave step workout by The Firm. Great combination of cardio and weight lifting. I also LOVE my Yoga Booty Ballet dvds. They incorporate dance, ballet, yoga, pilates and weightlifting, I noticed a wonderful difference in my body after doing these a couple of times. I also have some dance dvds by Jennifer Galadi. They are not complicated and are super fun!!! I get lost going to the bathroom so even I can do them.
The most difficult are my Wave dvds!! My Yoga Booty Ballet and dance dvds are for any level of fitness and are so much fun!!!
I don't know if you have any critters to walk, but me and the dog have a blast going for walks in the evening. Might as well get out and enjoy the weather when its nice.
Oh yes, I have a sweet dog and she loves to go for walks, but I just can't get up enough "speed" walking outside to really get a good workout. Plus it's getting very warm where I live too and I just don't do hot & humid well.
I'm going to look into the Yoga Booty Ballet DVD's. Sounds like fun! Not sure if I'll get my husband to do that one with me?!?
Thanks all for your input!
