About This Group

Jackson is a wonderful person that has inspired many of us...today she hit her goal. She has lost 100 pounds..I would like for everyone to join this challenge..whichever date you choose to start, your goal is to lose 100 pounds in one year. Lets see how many of us can do it... This is how the Jackson\'s Challenge works...you pick a start date...most people use Monday..by using Monday, it makes you behave over the weekend :) To join the challenge, you must make a post that says \"I would like to join the Jackson\'s 100 pound Challenge\". hi i think i started april 28 and i was 310 im now 288 and i was on live strong last yr and i lost 55 lbs for my sons wedding but after the wedding i was very down bc my older son my best friend and my daughter took their lives so i wanted them at the wedding so of course i was very inactive my dr put me on meds that u gained so much weight now ive decided to try again whats important is tracking i just did 75 min on a exercise bike i got from livestrong it shows your heart rate was between 117 and 120 i went long tonight bc i had my ipod on and listening to the music makes u want to move but ive been doing either 30 or 60 or once 80 min a day i bought a bowfles treadmill before my sond wedding i used it to lose but its so boring so i bought the bike i hope it helps as much as the treadmill i get on it occasionally but i get so bored so i wanna try im unconfortable i like to dress nice and its hard to wear what u want when u have weight on but i do find nice stuff just rather it be easier if i was thinner, good luck to every one i found this a few nights ago and decided id join if i can find a group no and i weigh myself every monday i wish u all the best thanks nikki

                 thank u so much for understanding my oqn kids i have left 3 call me emotionally dead my heart is just broken ,so i thought i would try livestrong again and joining this group to help distract my mind and im trying hard but lately as much i exercise the scale doesnt wanna show it lol good luck to u on your weight loss nikki

I would like to join the Jackson\'s 100 pound Challenge

So I have been tracking since mid-April.  Starting weight 257 today's weight 243.8 lbs!  I need to get my weight down so I can not worry about pre-diabetes. I go back to my doctor at the begining of September and I will be healthier!

After looking over the goals, I think this sounds like a REALLY GOOD plan, and perfect for me because I need to have surgery and I was hoping to have it done in a year, but I have to lose about 100 lbs first. So - how do I get started?

So Upset

I am so upset today! It will definitely be a hard day to stay away from the fridge. Yesterday the engine blew on my minivan. I am supposed to be taking my group of girl scouts to Savannah GA. on June 13 in it. I have no money to fix it. I may end up cancelling on the girls and missing out on the Seattle trip in July! So bummed...can't stop crying! Why does life have to always throw me curve balls?

I know this will sound difficult, but better days will come. Can you gather the Girl Scouts folks and tell them what happened and see if they can make alternate arrangements for you and the girls? Can you get someone else to drive you and the group? If it's not possible to go to Savannah, is there another activity that you and the girls could enjoy that would be local? Don't worry about the trip in July just yet. Let's make it to June first.  Take a deep breath. If it's possible, take a walk, then think about your options. Whatever you come up with I am sure it will be the right choice for you. Good luck!!

My group number is 60 My loss for the week is 2.

My total loss on the Jackson's Challenge is 9 pounds I have 91 pounds left to lose to meet the Jackson's Challenge.

I have 119 pounds left until my goal weight.

I am starting over! I had my second son in January and I have been working off the 30 pound pregnancy weight gain. So essentially I am 9 pounds less than where I started intially and I am happy about that. I have lost 40 pounds in 4 months and I am looking forward to keeping the 10 pound a month average going until I get to my goal weight. Here's to eating clean, training mean and getting lean!

Clothes pack rat

Anyone else keep clothes that get too small? The idea being 'I'll lose weight and get back into them". They just keep getting pushed further and further back in the closet. Well, FINALLY, that has paid off for me! I was digging through my closet and couldn't believe all the good stuff I found!! Some of the items were too big and I will never be able to wear them. If I needed a little extra 'something' to get me fired up for this week, that was it!! :-)

Congrats on some of them being 2 big!
I did this for years! lol... I recently moved and threw out or gave away most of it.  I kept one pair of pants.  I will have to dig them out of storage when the time comes and hopefully they will not fit ;)

Yup...I was known for that, but the only bad part is I lost weight quicker than I thought and by the time I found them... still brand new with the tags on! I've never got to wear them because they were to big, so my Vegas and Hawaii shirts at $50 a pop, well it's just sad!!...LOL

I would like to join Jackson's 100 pound challenge. My starting weight is 327 lb. I actually joined LS.com on May 14, 2012 but I didn't really get started til last Tues. May 22nd.  I have lost 7 lb. this week. This seems like it has been really helpful for a lot of you, I find that so encouraging.  Thank you for being here.ÂPS What is a group number and what are all these capital A's doing here?

By going into the Jackson's 100 Pound Challenge Group, you'll meet plenty of like-minded people who all want to lose weight. Memorial Day Weigh-in

I have lost a total of 65lbs now. I haven't seen this number on the scale since 2001. I am extremely proud of myself for what I have been able to accomplish in about 5 1/2 months. I don't eat perfectly every day, I don't have a loss every week, but I am committed. Very excited to see what I can accomplish in the next 5 1/2 months! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Went to the gym only two times this week but I have done so much yard work this weekend that I think that accounts for some of this weight loss. The past two weeks have been difficult. My new part time job after retirement has left me with TMJ; and added to that an ear infection; I have not had any of those ailments before, and have been pretty miserable. I didn't stop eating all that I could though, and after two weeks with no exercise, I'm back to my tired story of trying again.

I think I did pretty well this week. I was down 2 to 4 lbs all week and when my long weekend started with a day off on Friday I took a "You burned them, you earned them" approach, eating/drinking back all calories I had burned during exercise that day. Last night my wife and I celebrated our anniversary with a nice steak dinner and a huge tub of popcorn (each) at the movies.(and I'm pretty sure that exceeded the 2000 calories I burned on my bike ride earlier in the day). With all that sodium from last night I expected to weigh more this morning, but the scale still says I was 0.5 lbs down from last Monday. Back to regular today...nothing fancy or fattening scheduled for Memorial Day.

~chuckles~ That's awesome! Every once in a while a meal out isn't going to kill ya. :) I know what you mean by the "you burned 'em, you earned 'em" approach. I've done that before. :) I'm down half a pound this week, too--but I'm sure I would've been more if I hadn't eaten out at the Keg last night with family for my father's anniversary. lol But all in all, it was delish! I hope you enjoyed yourself and every once in a while, the cheat day is worth it. :) Congratulations to you and your wife! ^_^

All of the stress eating has caught up with me. My sister is now out of the hospital, recouping at home. Such a relief. I have resumed going to the gym and being more active. I completed 30 minutes on the elliptical! That was a HUGE accomplishment for me. I hope my knee behaves. I strained it yesterday carrying too many groceries. Icing and stretching. Thanks to all of the soldiers out there, alive as well as gone from us. Have a great week everyone!!

Definitely keep doing what you're doing because it's working. Our friend, the *&$^#% scale, will catch up. 74 pounds lost FOREVER. Great work, keep at it.

I am ready for this challenge, i have been in the other group for 4 weeks now and ready to move on to a challenge, i have lost 10lbs in the 4 weeks, so how do i go about joining this group.

"I would like to join the Jackson's 100 pound Challenge".

 This is the 16th day of a major lifestyle change for me, and my family, to a lesser degree. I hope by joining a group that I can find motivation, inspiration, and tips or advice from people who also have weight to lose or have lost weight. 16 days ago I began tracking everything I eat here on livestrong, and exercising. I had a few bad days already, but I have had even more good days, hopefully I can prevent bad days from becoming  bad weeks by having support from a group that is going through what I am. I just bought a scale for the first time EVER lol, so I don't know how much I weighed at the beginning of my journey, but I have lost 4 pounds in one week since the scale arrived in the mail. I would like to join the Jackson's 100 pound Challenge!!!!

Hello! Ok...so I am all amped up and ready to lose weight! I started my "lifestyle change" earlier this week and started out weighing 265 lbs. So far I am down 8 lbs and my long-term goal is 165...so this is a perfect group for me! I am so excited. This year is going to fly by and by next summer I will be where I want to be. I am not just doing this for myself but also for my two children who are 5 1/2 and 7. I want them to get healthier along with me. 
Question...have you ever picked up something that weighed 100 lbs??? Just imagine...we are carrying this around with us ALL THE TIME! It's hard to believe. If we lose this weight...it will probably feel like we are floating! I am very happy to have all of you to share this adventure with. Keep up the good work everyone...we can do it!

I have almost lost 15 lbs since starting back up with Livestrong. I am slowly working my way towards the Paleo Diet (aka Caveman Diet).  I am eating up the things that are not on the diet then not buying any new ones. It's a very strict diet and very time-consuming to make all the food from scratch but it's paying off big-time!

I -love-love-LOVE- the Paleo Diet! <3 SO good, delicious and SO healthy! ^_^ I have a great website that has a TON of paleo diet recipes, and a lot of them are super simple. If you ever need some help in that area, I can help you get away from the time consuming aspect of it! :) Great job! Keep it up! <3

In a GREAT mood

Finally had a break in an almost two week plateau/gain then loss! Finally broke it and went down two and a half pounds. :P In a super happy mood. Just wanted to share my happy mood with everybody--and honestly? I've got my iPod in my ears and I'm doing silly things like DANCING down the grocery store's aisles. Anything to burn more calories! :P Much love, guys! I hope you guys are in as AWESOME a mood as I am today! <3

Another restart

 Hi there folks,
I hope you are all well. Sorry I've been away for so long, it's been a busy and messed up few weeks.
The last time I checked in was just after my friends wedding, and what a weekend that was!
Since then I have somewhat lost my way. Back when I last checked in I was at 262lbs, and was feeling pretty good with myself. Since the 23rd of March I have gained 12lbs (ouch) but the annoying thing with this is the fact that for the majority of the time I have been fighting off some sort of viral infection. It started with a cold at the end of March, and then moved itself to my throat after a week and stayed there ever since. I'm still getting over it, but it is nowhere near as bad. The resultant of this was extreme lethargy where I didn't go anywhere near a gym and avoided walking home from work as much as possible (the horrid weather that we have had over the last few weeks certainly didn't help either).
All through out the time I could feel the weight creeping up, my trousers were getting tighter and my knee was getting sore again. All very frustrating.
So here we are. I am not quite 100% but good enough, I have energy again which is the important thing, and I have dropped into the gym twice this week and jogged home from work twice now. Whilst I am annoyed at the gain, I am just going to move on and deal with it, of course with the help and support of you guys!!!
So here we go my weigh in is as follows;
My Starting date was 31/08/10
Start weight 316lbs
My group number is 52
My gain since 23/03/12 is 12lbs
My total loss on the Jackson's challenge is 41lbs
I have 51lbs to lose to meet the challange
My current weight is 275lbs (21/05/12)

I am going to do this!

Since graduating I have been working for a a pipe cladding company as a project engineer. Saddly this is only a temp position, but it is six months of industrial experience which is worth its weight in gold and should put me in a better position for finding the next job.
I couldn't help but notice that you have made some fantastic progress, 72lbs gone - awesome! How have you been otherwise?

I would like to join the Jackson's 100 pound Challenge!!!

I'd ultimately like to lose 130lbs to be at a goal weight of 145lbs but even 100lbs would be amazing.

Welcome to The Jackson's 100 Pound Challenge. The best place to be.  You can go in Group #72.

You've definitely come to the right place. Everybody is very supportive and dedicated here. Losing 100 pounds is a dream which can come true!!

We're all in the same boat trying to accomplish the same thing. This is an awesome group and very supportive and dedicated.

We're here to help you in any way we can. Best of luck to you on your improved lifestyle and weight loss journey.

We weigh in on Mondays and I will post everyone's weight loss results and group records on Tuesdays.

Drink lots of water, exercise, post & read with us and track everything you eat.

The key to losing weight is wanting to do it badly enough and finding the motivation to carry it through.

To start with, you need to ask yourself who you are losing weight for. If the answer is me you'll find it easier.

Get Support. Surrounding yourself with a good support network may also help to spur you on and TDP can certainly help you with that. By going into the Jackson's 100 Pound Challenge Group, you'll meet plenty of like-minded people who all want to lose weight. The advantage of this is that you'll always be able to find someone who has been through a difficult time with weight loss and has come out on the other side. This alone can be all that it takes to keep you motivated and on track.

In the meantime, you may also find it helpful to enlist the help and support of friends and family. Do you have a friend you could exercise with? Could your partner also do with eating a more healthy diet? Or could you encourage your work colleagues to do a fruit run rather than a chocolate run every afternoon?

You'll also find that once the weight starts to come off, the compliments will start to flood in and this will also help to keep you motivated. Ultimately, providing you really want to lose weight and have plenty of support to help you along the way, you'll achieve your goal. Good luck!
