Keep up the good work, you WILL make it and all your focus and commitment will be worth it in the end!
I have been on Weight Watchers for over a year and only lost 12 lbs (not counting the 10 or so that i keep gaining and losing). I was eating healthfully before WW, so it wasn't a huge lifestyle change. It just made me more aware of every little bite i put in my mouth. I upped my work outs, right now i teach 3-6 yoga classes a week, one Body Combat (think Tai Bo on CRACK!) on Body Pump (weights) class and one spin class a week. So you would think with working out almost 9 times a week and watching what i eat logging everything on WW I would be losing lots! I have been tested for Thyroid problems (my sister and grandma have them) and there was nothing wrong with me. I did have low vitamin D, which now i take in vitamin form. I have lost 4 dress sizes. I am trying not to get hung up on the scale. I can tell that i have gained muscle. When does the muscle take over and start getting rid of fat!?? I tried taking my measurements because people were saying I was probably losing inches, well in three months time, everything was the same or BIGGER except my calves! I eat 100% whole wheat if I do eat bread or pasta, I am eating fruits, veggies, lean protiens, greek yogurt, oatmeal with blueberries, (natural, no sugar!) i drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, hardly ever have alcohol...(like one light beer once a month!) I don't know what else to do! My patience is wearing thin. I am thinking of stopping WW because I can't afford it anyway. Thoughts??
I honestly don't think that WW is the best route for long-term weight loss. I think it helps people who normally have a really bad diet to learn to eat a more balanced diet, but it allows for too much wiggle room when it comes to the amount of calories you're actually consuming.
Â
I'd start using myplate to find out what you are NETing on average using WW. You might find out that you are eating too few cals and need to up your intake in order to re-ignite your metabolism. Or you might be eating too close to your maintenance number and therefore losing very slowly. Or, perhaps it's a mix of both and your metabolism is too confused to perform properly.
Â
Whatever the case may be, you should probably think about transitioning off of WW so you can learn to track your calories yourself without relying on the points system indefinitely.
Â
I hope you figure out something that works for you!
I did WW last year and I just couldn't keep up with it. I'm a College student and I work, the meeting I picked was on a night that I had class. So, I kept having to miss 4 weeks, and then wait for the WW program to the promotion to pay only the weekly meeting price to be re-registered. Long story short, I only lost 10 pounds. I also agree with BoneBone24 about the wiggle room. I need something more strict if I want to lose weight, so I joined LiveStrong. I love MyPlate and I find it easier to track what I am eating/drinking because it is online. I no longer have to carry a book for eating out, tracking my points, grocery shopping. I can plan it all online ahead of time here on the site what to buy, e-mail it to my phone, and just go to the store to buy it.Â
IÂ whole-heartedly agree with bones. given your activity level, i'm guessing you're not eating enough. when i was training for my first half-marathon and running 6 days a week, i had to significantly up my calorie intake to see the scale go down. if consuming too few calories, your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to every last calorie.
Before Weight Watchers i had a personal trainer tell me i wasnt eating enough, its hard to change from the mindset eat less, and then eat more to lose. I do snack on healthy stuff (like hummus and carrots and fruit and fiber one yogurt or greek yogurt). My original goal was to fit into all my "skinny" jeans and i did that, and had to buy smaller ones, so i guess maybe I will just have to be patient with the scale! thanks for the encouragment/compliments!
Get this, i just logged everything i ate, put in what i am planning on eating for dinner and put in my work out and its still says i have 1000 calories to eat, if I eat back my calories after working...Do you guys all eat back your calories? If I dont eat back, it still says I have like 600 left so maybe i was not eating enough with all my working out!
