Losing weight can be hard on your marriage!

posted by tliarch on 2:17 pm

Hi Everyone,
I wondered if any of you have had this happen to you, after losing weight. I personally was always in shape, but over the past 7 years since being married, and work taking such precedence in my life, I've slowly packed it on 100lbs worth, and now that I've started to lose it all...my beautiful wife won't do any of the fitness things w/me, she just sits and watches TV, and she complains about when I go out to workout..even though I offer to take her...though she makes it clear she doesn't want me to do so.
Has anyone else had this experience?

You might want to have a look at the "Those sig others" thread in The Weigh In Weeklies group...

Yes. My ex boyfriend was very irritated about my dieting. He would cook these horribly fattening foods for me and sit there to make sure I would eat them. He made fun of me every time I tried to exercise. He was constantly sabotaging me. I finally lost 50 pounds and left his ass. Of course I gained it all back!

Sounds like she might have low self esteem?
And she probably is thinking, wow, another reason for him NOT to be home.

Some women really like having their mate around.
Me, not so much. :)

You just need to stay on track!

Thanks for the ideas, and the support.
I'm doing it...using low carbs, and exercise, and I'm really happy about it. She likes how I look, too...
BUT...
She just isn't willing to participate, or even support.
I think it's clear she has low self esteem, but we'll just have to work through, I guess. I'm going to continue on this path, because I like how I feel again.
Thanks again...
