Question

posted by coleenm on 3:04 pm

I know the book isn't big on them (except fish oil) but does anyone here take vitamins? If so, can I ask what kind? Thanks!

I take a multi-vitamin/multi-mineral, omega 3/6/9, and probiotics everyday plus I usually have a serving of ground flax seed too.

I take a "Women's One a Day" multi vitamin everyday.

by kklinksick on Mar 25, 2009 at 5:48 pm

I take the Walgreens version of Women's one a day.

I bought the Centrum w/ extra B vitamins, Vitamin D, Fish oil, and probiotics but I rarely if ever remember to take them!

Actually, after doing some reading, Saturday, I started taking the following:
weight sense multivitamin, flax/fish oil/borage, chromium picolinate, and green tea extract.  I want to take CLA also, but both stores I've been to have been sold out!

Hmmm... was wondering b/c I was in GNC getting my protein powder and they talked me into these Women's Active Vitapaks - they are supposed to give you energy (and I'm old, with 2 kids, so I need all I can get!) and was wondering if anybody had any experience with them. They were expensive too! I have never taken vitamins before.

I can surely notice a difference when I take a high quality multi as opposed to a store brand as far as energy and overall well-being is concerned.  Most store brands and even Centrum are not well absorbed by your body and are excreted out as waste.  I am not personally familiar with GNC's brand, but I assume it would be better than most.  What does the pill look like?  If it ihas greenish/brownish flecks and looks as if it would easily dissolve in water then it is better that a hard solid colored tablet.  It is also important that a multi contain phytonutrients.

I take fish oils....and that's about it.  If i'm feeling run-down my husband will do some Applied Kinesiology (kind of witch doctory and hard to explain) testing and get me to take a series of different supplements to boost me back up.  Otherwise, I try to just eat a balanced diet.  I've been doing better lately since I'm eating way more veggies etc.
My kids take fish oil tablets too and love them - we use the Nordic Naturals Children's DHA and they are berry flavored gel caps.  They eat them up like candy!

I take fish oil, Vitamin C (500 mg - max your  body can digest at one time), and a multi-vitamin daily. When I was detoxing, I would do Vitamin C 2x a day and added a probiotic.
