Who's racing this weekend? Let us know when and where, and we'll cheer you on.
Not that she's on TDP, but my sister is participating in her first duathlon this morning.
The Barking Dog is a 5k run, 29k bike, 5k run format. Hopefully, she'll do just fine.
GL to your sis! She should get on tdp too : ) A duathlon sounds like fun. After my marathon goal that might be my next new thing. Let us know how it goes!
Well I just finished the RACE FOR THE CURE (Susan G. Komen) event! It was a 5K (3.1 mile run) and I went out hoping to break 25 minutes (my best time to date was 27:38) so I was aiming to break that and run it in 25 minutes!
Well I even beat that and finished in 24:34 for an avg of 7:52 minutes per mile! I was so freaking proud. Even more proud that all I ate afterwards was a 100 calorie mini muffin...when there was cookies, muffins, crissoants (all my weaknesses!!!) So that was a FEAT in itself!
Sis update:
The conditions were VERY un-May like. We woke up with 45 degrees and wind. It had rained for about an hour the night before, so the roads were slick. With this being the first du ever, she had decided on putting slicks on her MTB instead of dropping cash for a road bike. She has run the Muddy Buddy before, so knowing how that kind of format works was the only thing keeping her from freaking out.
By the time I got to the park where this was being held, she had already gone through the first run and bike portions, and was due to come through the finish line at any time. Apparently, the wind had started blowing REALLY hard when she started the bike portion (29k, not 18k like she thought), and spent alot of energy trying to get through that. She told her husband that she wasn't sure if she would make it, but I told him that if it meant that she was crawling across the finish, she would not quit.
She finally made it to the finish line at @ 2:44:58. She was running straight, not leaning over, and looking good. I am so proud of her! Talking to her afterwards, she is not nearly as intimidated for the next 2 in the series as she was about this one.
