So, I just fell out...I was stress eating.....only it didn't feel like like it usually does, because I don't want to undo the weight loss from the last week....then my dog came in from outside where she must have eaten some grass...she coughed it up on to the tile and proceeded to eat it off the tile. OK. I am done eating.

I smashed thru my 196 plateau at Jenny Craig, and got a 50 dollar discount on food, for
making my "half-way" goal weight.! I then partied too much on Saturday and Sunday. I had
a shot of scotch, soup, cheese sticks, subway sandwich, el pollo loco chicken, german
chocolate cake, ice cream... all on Saturday. I think I weighed in at 202 on Sunday. I
got back on track Monday morning, and still managed to lose -1.5 pounds for the week!
WOOT!
Bring on that goal weight!

I had a pretty good week, -I could do some things better, but I'll take a couple lbs gone
any time!
Wow, I love your progress! Keep showing us these good numbers!
I'm jealous of your avatar. I might change my avatar to this, in another 20 pounds or so.

Just back from long trip and now more dedicated to the cause because I noticed at the gym yesterday those that started with me this year are starting to look very good, so I want to join them. Okay the stats are: Original Weight 212lbs, last tracked weight was 204.6, and currrent weight is 203.4 lbs. Ideal weight 140-145lbs.

Ever since my vacation I am finding it harder to stick within my calorie goals for the
day.
New tread mill be here in a week hoping that will help :)
Name that new treadmill "Inspiration"
I betcha just putting the thing together will burn up a pound!
HANG in THERE..you are so close. I would be THRILLED to be where you are!
Your losing weight that's good....and then when your new tread mill comes you'll be so happy and super pumped-up and want to run more and maybe even bench press it a couple a times
....Ok don't bench press it, You'll hurt yourself.
I am training for our local fun run "Bloomsday" I have never done it before and my Aunt is coming to do it with me......problem here is she is a marathoner as in like Boston. I will never be in her league but I don't want to seem like a slug next to her either LOL
I started with walking....then I found Zumba and the pounds literally started flying off me. Did the zumba dvd's from homw they were so much stinking fun! Now I have a gym membership and I still have to watch everything I put in my mouth (probably will forever) and WATER at least a minimum of half your body weight in ounces per day! I try and never go below 80 ounces every single day.

Lost 2 pounds and I am not EVEN going to try
and find them. They are GONE. I like the way this is working out..So I think each
week I will just select a couple more unwanted pounds and
give them a one way ticket to where ever it is that lost pounds
go. Getting back to doing my yard work and gardening is giving me the calorie burning edge
I need to give them the boot!
Very nice loss of 2 Lbs....and it dose look like your gardening is giving you the calorie burning edge....and your Avatar is a little greener I believe!.
I have always heard to NEVER say "I 'LOST" weight". If it is lost, it can find you again (mine smack dab in the a**). It can be I released this amount of weight! I always forget to say that, but your inspiratonal message reminded me!
Interesting...hopefully not like RELEASE it from my body... the prison of fat....put to simply RELEASE and let go of it..yes that is a good way to think about it. I am the only one holding on to it....it's certainly not attached with duct tape..even though at times it seems like someone has used a whole roll of the heavy duty stuff on me.
THANKS!!!
If you find yourself in a hole..the first thing to do is stop digging.
maybe try something different this next week? Only you know what is not working.
on the upside...you have not gained!!!!!
concentration and dedication is key....i plateaued for a month!! and I was still doing 1 hour of stairs a day for a whole month!

No weigh in for me this week. I'm travelling and have no food scale, no measuring tape, no scale...nothing that I have come to rely on to keep me in check, - and it's a little scary :) I am suprised how much I use those things!! ahh, my first day on the website. I've used the iphone app for several weeks, but am just now beginning on here! I have been struggling since christmas to get to the point of losing weight again, after the holidays is always such a stressful time. But, I am more than detirmined to reach my goal weight by the end of may, and I know that I can do it! SW: 190 LW: 164 CW:161 GW: 145 Wish me luck!
Yesterday was the 70th anniversary of the Bataan Death March in 1942. Yesterday I
participated in the 23rd Annual Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missle Range.
Walked the 26.2 miles in 8 hours, 48 minutes through the desert and heat (high 80's).
Posted a couple thousand calorie burn! For anyone wanting to participate in something
phenomenal you should consider it. There is the honorary march of 14 1/2 miles or the
whole march of 26.2 miles. You get to meet veterans of all sorts and the few remaining
survivors of the actual Bataan Death March.
Mostly I wanted to check in. Was too tired and sore this morning to remember to weigh so
will weigh later in the week and post!
I haven't posted in awhile but back on track now. It took me awhile to learn I have to
eat small meals every few hours. I had a hard time at first but now I am used to it. I
started off the year pretty good, exercising five days a week and just watching what I
ate. In the first month I lost 2 pounds and I was happy with that. Then in the month of
February, wow gained, gained, gained. Got back on track in March and on the down
slope...woohoo!

Thanks guys. You did call me your Arch Nemesis when I first joined this group EJMM, lol. My goal weight puts me at 76 lbs lost - 7 lbs from now. I would love to be there by my 6 yr olds 7th Birthday on April 5th, however I don't see that happening right now.
I did try on my Army Trench Coat yesterday that I have not worn for 13 years. It was snug but it buttoned close.
That goal I found out is still 15 lbs overweight according to BMI. I have decided to change my weekly loss from 3 lbs to 1 lb per week and add weight lifting to my exercise program.
It's hard for many people to believe that there are extraordinary things inside themselves,Remember you're in the League Of Extraordinary Losses! Now that we know who you are... I know who I am. I'm not a mistake! It all makes sense. In a comic, you know how you can tell who the arch-villain's going to be? He's the exact opposite of the hero, and most time's they're friends, like you and me
...LOL ( Memorable quote from the movie Unbreakable)

Hi folks, just found this website a week ago and I'm absolutely loving it.
WEEK 1
SW 226
CW 216 :)
Just the motivation I was needing :)
Bring on week 2!
Hi everyone!
I'm finally starting back with a trainer tomorrow. My first sessions are tomorrow and
Wednesday. Joining this group for support and encouragement! Tomorrow I start on a liver
enhancement program - cutting out all sugar, starches, alcohol, coffee, bad stuff - for
two weeks. Scary!
Good luck to everyone this week!
so i'm about to graduate from hight school in 90 days and i want' to loose weight before that so could look good on my tuxedo so i'm really serious about this i'm so tired of being fat i wan't to start a whole new life i need to loose about 50-70 pounds during that time do you think is possible?
I have lost that amount in 90 days. I had to give up lots of foods that I LOVE. When I started tracking everything I ate it scared me. In order to do this you have to give up going to fast food places and start eating salads and other fresh produce at home. You will probably want to start bringing food from home for lunch to save on calories at lunch.
I also had to switch many things that I was doing, including starting to exercise on a regular basis. The exercise does not make you lose weight, only diet does. The exercise allows you to develop muscles and gives you energy.
You can do this, but you have to be strong and make the commitment to walk away from sweats and most carbs and focus on lean protiens and vegies.
i think the hardest thing for me is going to be execising because i'm really lazy but i'm going to do it i ain't going to give up no matter what
Take this a little slower than jumping in blind! Take a look at what you are eating. Check around on the forums and compare that to what others are eating. Focus on protein, "good fat", and healthy carbs. If those are words that you just see being thrown around, ask questions and research. If you are truly serious about this, it isn't a matter of stopping eating for a couple of months and poof, off comes the weight. It is a dedication. But, please don't delete all carbs from your diet. It could leave you sluggish, frustrated, and set you up for failure. There is one forum "More than 50 lbs to lose" that is great for support on how much and what you eat.
I personally think exercise is just as important as the food you consume. Obviously, it builds muscle. The muscle helps burn more fuel in your body than fat does - more calories burnt - more weight loss. Second, when you exercise in the day, say 1,000 calories, that is more food that you can consume. It kind of helps to balance out how much you are having to cut out of your diet in order to lose such a tremendous amount of weight.
I lost 110 lbs doing this. I found exercise the most important part. It kept me challenged and I believe that it helped me get results the results I have. I hit my "goal weight" 2 weeks ago and it feels great. You can do it, only if you want it! Good luck!
you're looking to lose over half a pound a day? If anyone on this board is a believer in aggressive goals, and fastest wieght loss, it's me! But that's too agressive even for my standards!
You didn't mention your current weight, so I will assume you are not 150 pounds to begin with.
if you really want to do this, I would recommend these things, because I do these things. and it took me 3 months to lose 20 pounds, and stuck to this regiment about 70% of the time during the 3 months:
1200 calories a day of pure veggies and proteins. No candy or ice cream or alcohol.
20-30 glasses of water a day, based on your current body weight and physical activity.
walking uphill, or doing stairs. see if you can do 5 hours a week.
take what you can get.....but try not to be unrealistic. Consult a physican if you are serious about such a drastic pace.

Artificial Sweeteners – If you are like the rest of us, you see food products everywhere
in flashy boxes that read “Sugar Free” and think…awesome, I can eat this and not gain
weight. Not so fast my friend! Most people don’t realize this because artificial
sweeteners generally have zero calories, but artificial sweeteners will make you fat. How
is this possible?
First, these fake sweeteners increase your appetite by sending false signals to the brain
that sweet food is on the way. Your brain subsequently becomes confused when sweet food
never arrives and so it never gives the signal that you are satisfied. You will develop a
nasty sweet tooth, and have sugar cravings throughout the day. Not what you want if your
goal is to lose stubborn body fat!
Artificial sweeteners are well…artificial, so the body typically sees this “food” as a
foreign invader and treats it as such, thus overwhelming the liver with an intense
workload.
Now the liver is important because it filters and removes dangerous or unnecessary
substances from the body, but when the liver is overwhelmed with toxins like artificial
sweeteners it can no longer process the essential nutrients that your body needs to
function at its peak. An overworked liver can’t properly break down fats so you will have
a very tough time losing any weight at all if your liver is tired. If you want to lose
fat, you need to keep your liver to functioning at its peak.
Hopefully this article opened your eyes about the types of foods you need to avoid to keep
your body, lean, healthy and strong for life. So eliminate toxic processed, man-made
foods, fast foods, toxic fats, and sugar from your diet and you will live a long healthy
life!
If this is to personal please disregard it....just curious......bunnycakes?? Interesting name? :)
IN 2009, my ex-girlfriend used to call me Bunny, because, at night, i would wear a "retainer" like night-guard at night, which protruded like bunny teeth.
I just threw "cakes" on there...
She broke up with me in 2009, right when I decided to change my life....I still had the name "bunny" in my head...I didn't have any hard feelings for her, and I wasn't trying to win her back, but I did want to lose weight for myself, and show her, anything could be done, if you put your mind to it.
So, in late 2009, after I lost 50 pounds in 6 months, I showed her, what she could NO longer have, after she broke up with me. LOL

I gained some of my weight back due to an injury, but that's another story.
Working, working, working since last week...tracked food in a hurry and no time for anything else...working today too!! not off till Friday!! grrr... I love your story....everytime you think of your "name" it reminds you that you can do anything you put your mind to. Now when I read your name it reminds me of the same message.
Injuries can put you back some...that's how I went on my upward weight spiral to begin with.
Thanks for sharing.

I'll do better next week!!
Well if you think 22 Lbs is amazing....I'ved been at this for 18 Weeks and one day! Have lost 64 LBS so far!
64 lbs? Is that all? ;)
I am wondering about the 278 starting weight. Is that when you started in here? Btw, ate at Applebee's tonight and they suckered me with a cheesecake shooter. That put me over for the day, grrrrr
Yes the 278 Lbs was when I join this group. The other group Jackson's Challenge is when I first started on Nov, 15th 2011 at 320 Lbs. I just put the weight I was at when I joined this group! Applebee's I get the Oriental Chicken salad with grilled not fried chicken and bring my own dressing! Litehouse Tangy Orange Citrus (50 cal, 190 sodium). Plus drink unsweeten ice tea. The whole meal is 314 calories.Wow... I keep giving away my secrets...LOL

not bad first week, I will say that I'm thankful that I didn;t gain weight, i think the
biggest difference is that i joined a gym and that the new meds for the thyriod are
working better, I decided to reward myself this week and buy new running shoes, I still
have alot of swelling in my legs but I hope that will improve with exercise,
my goals this week is to
pack lunch everyday for work
work out 5 time this week as the kid will be gone for spring break and it is just me
and make dinner at home everynight as it is just me , very very easy to just pick
something up and I'm still learning this eat health life style
...don't know if you consider it healthy...but if you look at my page I just posted what I made for dinner tonight...there are ways to make it a healthier dish, but had one hour between jobs to preapre dinner for the family...no time to alter it, but I am sure brown rice, maybe yogurt instead of mayonnaise, and definitely no french fried onions!! I think it was 271 cal/serving and about 14 grams of chicken. I used frozen diced chicken for no time to make fresh breasts....I called it chick rice casserole, because it kept telling me the names were taken. Hope you like it as you cook for yourself...add some veggies for a side dish, and its pretty filing, this recipe and 2 servings of steamable veggies in the side came to about 300 calories total. Hope if you make it, you like it!
suggestion....i do all the cooking, and I make sure I "prep" our foods my cutting them in smaller, bite size portions.
each piece of food that goes into your mouth should be the size of a quarter.....any smaller, and it loses the taste, any bigger, and you probably end up gulping your food, and not really tasting it!
it is more work to cut up your food, but you will find you enjoy it more, and you will get "full" on less food!

-3.9 pounds since last weigh in!!!! I thnk I spent a good month, weighing in, and
gaining weight, and not losing weight......for a whole month, i could NOT crack 196!!!!
the trick? I had to get my diet down to 1200 calories for at least 1 day....i was
eating 2000 calories a day, and believing i was burning 3000 calories a
day....and that I was netting -1000, but that didn't seem to work for me. the 1 day
I kept my diet under 1200, I broke thru my plateau. Will see if I can manage 1200
calories a day til saturday. Obviously, for me, "eating more to rev up my metabolism"
didn't work for me.....(my metabolism is pretty good, I do 100 flights of stairs a day)
So, made it halfway there.....just have to get this weigh in for my Jenny Craig weigh in
to get 50 dollars off of food!!!!
good luck to everyone!

too worried pretty sure it's just water weight from aunt flo. God have I ever mentioned

I think I might be having the same problem. Darn you Aunt Flo!! That and the thin mints LOL!! Good luck next week
I coined the term "PAM" in 2009.
Pretty Awful Menstration PAM
and most of the ladies at the time loved the term. Why assign a masculine name, TOM, to a purely feminine issue? PAM, PAM, PAM,...use it freely if you wish....or not....

Down 2 pounds. I lost most of the weight I gained last week. I am just about back on track
to where I was. I adjusted my goal weight to 135 for now. I was 135 a few years ago and I
felt great. I was running a lot and felt thin and happy at that time. I'm working back up
to running more again and I think 135 is just more realistic for me than 130.

I am excited that there are groups like this one on Livestrong. Both my daughter and I need to loose weight. My daughter is a full-time student and I am a teacher. We live on a very fixed income and trying to maintain weight watchers memberships for both of us was getting to be too expensive. I worried about how we would see success, but with all the groups on this site I am excited and feeling very positive. I look forward to weighing in tomorrow with a nice starting point too. Hopefully, I can get my daughter to join the group too.
Hi and welcome. I just joined yesterday for the same reasons. This site has many similar features to WW and its free and you can do it in your living room. The food tracking is great. When you're out of calories, you stop eating, just like being out of points.
I'll try and post my weight for the first time

Hi everyone, I found this site yesterday and I think it's great!! Thanks for letting me join your group. I need to weigh in every week "in front of someone", so this should be good. I'm not sure how it all works exactly, but I'll figure it out. I'm starting at 240. First goal is 215 which is what I was when I stopped going to WW a year ago, and thought I could keep losing weight on my own ( big mistake), then anything under 200-- has been years since I've seen that. My daughter is getting married Dec 1, so want to be down as much as possible by then.
Good morning all! Happy first day of spring! Today it is snowing like crazy and I have
already been out to shovel once! I think mother nature didn't get the memo from us that
we are ready for spring.
Doing better recently. Logging sure does help. I will think twice about putting it in my
mouth if I have to put it into the food log. Giving up chocolate for lent helped too!
Drinking lots of hot tea too. No calories and the new green tea superfuits from Lipton
are quite good. Sweet without the sweetener.
Getting closer to the Bataan Memorial Death March too (Sunday!) so have been getting out
more often to walk and exercise.

This morning not only is it pouring rain, but it is a stressful day. One of those days
that when you are pregnant and making dreams for your unborn child you would never plan on

he asks if he can just buy a lottery card because he is old enough. He is taller than me
and so handsome, just his brain doesn't work like it should. There are days I think he
might be "normal" and other days where his understanding of the world is limited to his
developmental age of 8-10 years old. He is so excited he gets to leave school early today.
A "normal" 18 year old boy would be upset about taking away all his adult privileges.
Today a court appointed attorney will take my son and sit on the other side of the court
room from us. I pray that I do not cry in front of everyone. I remember when I went to the
bank with my older daughter after she turned 18, and she refused to have me on her
account, because she was considered an adult. Instead, my son is excited about leaving
school early. Sometimes ignorance is best I guess.
So since last June, with one stressor after another, I have somehow learned to deal with
stress by putting into my mouth whatever pleased me. This morning I am sick to my stomach
thinking of the day in store. I tracked what I will have for breakfast but the thought of
eating places a pit in my stomach. Problem will be when we come home. If I feel the stress
released, or wake up tomorrow to a new day...that is when I convince myself little bites
here and there won't matter. Something has to please me.....Or convince myself to share
ice cream with the kids because it makes for good bonding time.
Grrr...I am a walking "diabetic to be" at this weight. I can't imagine what my heart feels
like having to pump the blood through this body. I have to get healthy again like I have
in the past. I have to be around a long time to take care of my son. God, give me the
strength!!!
Ok, your post made me cry! I don't know you but I would wager that you are very much stronger than you give yourself credit for. There are people out here that will support you and encourage you. There is a saying out there that goes something like "God (or the universe if you prefer) wont give you more than you are capable of handling". We have buried strength in us that just needs to be found.
Try little steps towards health - eating a cup of yogurt instead of the ice cream. You are still spending time but without the calories. Learn to take a few minutes of closed eye deep breathing just for you to reset your balance throughout the day. Use a smaller plate so it looks like you have more food at a smaller portion.
I don't know what else to say but know there are people out there to lean on!
Good luck and keep us posted.
Wow.......i wish you strength when it come to your story!
I will tell you that logging foods on this site helped me become more accountable to myself about my diet, and life in general.
I try to tell people to log everything....i know some people only want to log things that are good, and only when convenient, and want to use excuses when they fail, like "I'm too busy....".....but if you learn to be accountable to yourself, even when you are busy....it will drastically improve the quality of your life!
this site can change your life!
Thank you both...OK...right before leaving for court I had a yogurt ...when I came home the casserole I had made for the family was just coming out of the oven and smelled great. A few minutes later my husband commented on how good it was...so instead of eating my "separate" dinner, I ate what they were eating...BUT made the smaller plate ! I then went and added the recipe to my recipes so that I could see what I was eating in calories...what an eye opener...I easily could have gone for more, but seeing the calorie count stopped me. Now I have to work on my water for the day!! Didn't want to drink too much before court!! My son did great...like I said, ignorance is bliss, something I am thankful for......look forward to losing weight with you all!!!!!!!!!!!!
My heart went out to you as I read your post. Keep your head up...there is always hope and always people here when you need to vent. As a parent to a special needs child I know the stress can be overwhelming. Little changes will make all the difference! The only advice I can add to the others is to try and get in a walk each day. It doesn't have to be anything big...just a few minutes to your self to focus and stretch out your body. It will give you time to relax and concentrate on YOU. Great job on making good choices through a stressful situation!
Just a thought - around here they have a facility where special needs kids and adults can go during the day. One day a week these special needs people go to the local YMCA for a couple of hours in the afternoon where they can choose what activity they want to do.
If you have a program like this in your area, you may be able to join your son for a fun couple of hours and get a workout at the same time.
I take my boys, 6 and 11 to the YMCA with me on Sat morning and Sun afternoon for a few hours of fun time. I workout doing laps in the pool for about 30 min, with the rest of the time playing games with my boys. I get the biggest kick out of seeing their smiles when we are playing games.
Thanks for the advice..this immediate area is terrible when it comes to special needs...the church we go to has one night a month where special needs kids can go and parents can go out together, but it is geared for the younger child. We leave my son home with our daughters, esp., when we have to, like when they come home, and neither my husband nor I are home from work yet. He is high enough functioning that it works out...but when left home for too long, he gets "curious" with silly things like "what would it be like to take this tube of glue and surround the base of the toilet with the glue" When asked "why"..there is no good answer other than...I was just wondering what it would like.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thank you guys for your support and will try to stay away from the self pity party!!!
After consuming way over my calories all last week, i'm glad to say that my damage was only limited to a 1.5 lb gain Whew! thought it was going to be way worse than that

Weigh in

I did weigh in yesterday and ended up maintaining. I'm not too happy about that but at least I didn't gain weight. The positive is that I had 5 great days and I upped my exercise. But I had two bad days at the end of the week so I ended up maintaining. I'm pretty frustrated at my lack of endurance. I need to work on that. I seem to do well for a little bit and then I end up binging and not caring for a day or two. It's been my pattern for a very long time.

not gaining is progress..just uber slow progress, so do not fret.
It does not work for everyone, but some people need a "free day", not DAYS mind you...but a day to shake up the routine, go out to eat, or a day to celebrate without feeling deprived.
Here is a link to more about that kinda thinking.
