This is a group for people who are trying to get rid of those 10 or less pounds that just won't quit bugging them. No dramatic weight loss here, but the kind of weight that's just like a bad boyfriend - you've been trying to get rid of them but they keep on coming back for more.
Hi, I've been doing TDP for a month now, and have been participating on other groups, but
just discovered this one today. Here's my situation...I really only want to lose about 10
lbs, but since joining TDP and weighing weekly I've lost 0..none! I have been recording my
food religiously, and up till this last week working out more regularly than ever. My
calories generally hover between 1200 and 1400. After the first couple weeks of no weight
loss, I decided to take the advise I see in a lot of the forums and I increased my
calories (I'd been at and under 1200 till then). Still no change in my weight, fortunately
didn't gain any. It was difficult getting to the gym this last week, plus it was that
time of the month, so I haven't weighed myself, but now I'm afraid to.
Anyway, I really want to lose this 10 lbs before going to Mexico on 6/17 and I'm beginning
to wonder if all the advise I see out there doesn't apply to me and my goal. Do I need to
excersize more? Eat a lot less? Please feel free to check my plate! Any ideas or insight
would be greatly appreciated!
I don't have any advice to give you because I am having the same problem! I actually lost a pound only to have it return the following week. I eat healthy, exercise, log my calories truthfully and NOTHING!!! I went to my doctor this week and told him I was having a hard time losing weight and he said I must be eating too much and that I should drink Slimfast! Here I am trying to be healthy and he says I should drink Slimfast! He also said that I looked like I was 10 pounds heavier than what I told him I was! I cried alot that night! I see we are the same age and I feel that age and hormones play a huge part in losing weight. I am doing evryhing right and trying to stay positive, but feel like giving up! I only have 10 pounds to lose and also would like to lose it by June for a beach vacation the last week in June. Right now I don't see how that is possible!
I can't believe your doctor would say those things! Its nice to know that I'm not the only one in this boat. I think your right, age makes a difference, when I was younger a couple weeks of dieting was all I ever needed to lose a few pounds. They always say the last 10 lbs are the hardest, so I'm trying to console myself that since I'm starting out with just 10lbs to lose, it must be extra hard! Well, I'm about to get on my bike and try to burn some of todays calories. I'm considering restricting my calories a lot more for the next week, just to see what happens. Good luck to you!
Hello arianaw!
I just joined this group, and your entry was the first one I read. I do have some sort of a solution for you that I have yet to try myself! I'm a kinesiology major at my local college so I study a lot of fitness and nutrition. I just finished a study about calories that I think could really help you. I wish I could tell you I've tried it and it works, but unfortunately I'm under a different diet right now. There's something called the "500 rule" that on average cuts 2 lb's a week. It's a simple, proven process that is by far the most effective study I've recently seen. On days you work out, try to figure how many calories will be burned. For example, if you figure out you will burn 200 calories at the gym, try to cut 300 calories from your diet. On days you do not work out, try to cut 500 calories. Try switching off every other day working out, giving your muscles a day to recover. Well, I hope my advice helps! Best of luck with your journey! You are not alone!
