Plateau

posted by mocarski on 4:49 am

I'm on a bit of a plateau recently where I'm stuck at my current weight. Heading out to a big dinner for my anniversary didn't help much, not to mention the splurging I did on dessert lol. The good news is that I'm not gaining and I'm still down from where I started. Today as I was tracking my weight and meals here, the weight history graph showed my food intake on top of my weight. It's too soon to tell, but I'm hoping over time that will help me identify patterns and maybe start to get an idea of what else is impacting where my weight goes. Next week will be challenging as I head out on family vacation. We'll be traveling in our RV so I'll be able to cook and avoid some of the restaurant food. More on that in future posts.

Weight Loss

posted by mocarski on 3:52 pm

Isn't it strange how sometimes it's easy to eat right and avoid the stuff you shouldn't and how other times you can't pass by that box of donuts or candy without indulging? Never have been able to figure out why that is or why sometimes I can eat lots but I'm still losing weight but other times no matter how much I starve myself I'm still not shedding the pounds. I know that the amount of calories you are burning has a lot to do with it. But there still seems to be other things at work that are still a mystery to me. One of the things I really like about this site is that you can get an idea of how much you are burning by doing normal things around the house or going about your day. I'm finding that logging stuff everyday is helping me to identify patterns and understand what I'm doing to myself. The week before I left for camp I was dropping pounds very easily. Since I've been back I'm finding each pound to be a battle. I still have a couple to lose to get back to my pre-camp weight.

Summer Camp

posted by mocarski on 6:00 pm

Wasn't the best for losing weight. Everything was carbs. Even though I was very active I added back on 5 lbs. It was very hot and we were camping in tents so not a lot of good ways to get out of the heat. With any luck I'll be back on track within the next few days and can drop those extra pounds I gained.

Camp

posted by mocarski on 9:58 am

I'm hoping to post regularly so maybe I should have waited a week to start this group. I'm headed away to summer camp with my kids for the next week so won't have access to the site. The menu at camp isn't what you'd call the healthiest so I'm taking along some things to compensate. I'm planning to keep a detailed log of what I eat and enter it when I return.

Looking ahead

posted by mocarski on 3:42 pm

I've hit that age in life where I need to start thinking about what my quality of life will be when I get older. I'm pretty fit and not too overweight, but I live a fairly sedentary lifestyle and have been doing that pack on a few extra pounds every year for the past few years thing. I'm close enough to being healthy that I am more about making a series of small changes over time to improve and get me where I want to be than making a major change to deal with huge issues.  So what's your story, what do you want to talk about here, and what has worked and not worked for you?
