Advice needed!

posted by cquandt on 7:42 am

Hi Everyone! I'm a newer poster and hope you can help me with a question.  I'm trying to become vegetarian AND loose weight - I still eat a small amount of meat, but I working toward a veg/vegan lifestyle.  I am still eating dairy and eggs as well.  I've increased my water intake to around 48 oz a day and trying to get higher. I do very well until around 5-8 PM and then I CRAVE EVERYTHING! I've been doing well on my calorie tracking until night-time and then the cravings get the better of me. Any suggestions?

what exactly are you craving? Try eating smaller meals every 3 hours instead of 3 bigger meals a day. Up the water intake a bit more also. Just had a peek at your plate and looks like you are doing fairly well but I'd increase the fibre and cut down on the processed foods. Go with more fresh fruits and veggies. Personally I'd increase the protein too, both of these will help keep the hungries at bay.

Sometimes I just get into a routine of eating a snack after dinner and want "dessert" each night. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what I'm eating- it's more mental than physical. Some people brush their teeth and swear that helps. I prefer to drink tea. If you want something sweet you can get some fruity herbal tea. I find that peppermint tea stops my cravings. Just make sure you get caffeine free tea or you'll be awake all night.

I'm craving sugar mostly - anything sweet.  I'll try the protein, fruit and tea ideas and see what happens.  Thank you for your help!
