Any lactose intolerant vegetarians?
I'm just now putting two and two together and realizing that the general unpleasantness I
feel after eating dairy might more than a long series of coincidences, and I'm dreading
giving up/cutting down on some of my favorites... although with the way I eat dairy (ice
cream, cheese, full-fat chocolate milk...), cutting down is probably for the best anyway!
Not to mention that it will help with your caloric intake...dairy is usually high in calories! Good luck.

Thanks, that seems like a helpful site. I'll keep thinking about all the fat and cholesterol I'm avoiding.
I'm not lactose intolerant, but have been trying to incorporate more soy products and less dairy in my diet. My favorite breakfast treat is the Bolthouse Farms Soy Chai Latte drink available in the product section. One bottle (although 2 servings with a total of 320 cals). It's amazing to drink and contains 40% of my protein for the day -- and all dairy free. I'm not a soy milk drinker at all -- but this stuff is amazing.
I don't have the digestive issues that go along with lactose intolerance, but I, as well, have lately put 2 and 2 together, realizing my post nasal drip acts up whenever I have dairy. I'm a cheese-lover so this was a real disappointment.
So far, I've substituted soy milk for cow's milk, soy yogurt for milk yogurt and my next step is soy cheese.
There are so many soy alternative to milk products now, that it's only a matter of time before my frig says bye bye to milk products forever.
I think making your own food for as many meals...
