Walk, Walk Walk

posted by drahealthy09 on 6:59 pm

Well, I have reentered the walking groove and loving it.  I was walking around my neighborhood for the last 4 weeks, but my shin splints kept coming and going and coming again.  Yesterday I found 5 day fit walk by Leslie Sansone.  Yeah what a great VDay gift for me.  I walked the High Calorie Burn yesterday and the 30 minute walk today.  No shin splints.  I think it might be the change in steps, the routine. Do not know, but am happy there is still something to keep me going.  Walk Away The Pounds here I come!

Hooray for you!  Walking on the cement is very hard on our legs.  You would do better to walk on the black top (asphalt) often in a bike lane.  The Leslie dvd are wonderful and soon I would bet you have a collection of them!!!!

Welcome aboard! Glad you joined us and thrilled you are liking Leslie!
Awesome that you are not having problems with the shins! Ditto what Seggie said. Wear good shoes as well :)
Keep at it and let us know how you're doing. Happy walking!!!

To add a little from personal experience with Shin Splints....make you that you stretch your calf muscles! Stand a couple feet from the wall, put one leg fwd and hand on wall and stretch the back leg's calf muscle. Hold for 8 seconds and switch. Also, if you're starting to feel the pain, immediately start icing. Anything to keep it from coming back full force. Nice going on the exercise, stick with it!!
