Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue

posted by HelleB on 7:02 am

Yesterday I went to the first Equestrian Jumping Team and Individual final which are taking place here in Hong Kong, and the venue was just AMAZING. Perfectly planned and you didn't feel that the facilities seated more than 18,000 people. Actually it was like being in first class.

To be honest living here in China I am the first person to disagree with the nomination of the Olympic in China, since human right and standard living situation is fare from what I personal think every human being has the right to have, but China did win the nomination over six years ago, and now we can only support the Chinese and the many athletic competing the next couple weeks.

One thing is for sure the Chinese are very proud of having the Olympic here in their country. And for many this is the main event in their live time, difficult to understand coming from the west, but the Chinese doesn't have the freedom which we grow up with and they look up to the west as if we are the hero's. Today the news has been all about the Opening Venue, where a pretty girl was lip singing because the girls singing wasn't pretty enough for the World - seem harsh for every western person but for the Chinese this is to present themselves the best way for the people and countries that they look so much up too, and they will all disagree that is incorrect.
Secondly this pretty is already a big star in China and actually does sing, but it was decided one the opening day that her voice wasn't good enough, so as we say in Asia - who lost their face pretty girl or normal girl????

I will be leaving for Beijing Olympic next Thursday, to go watch Team Handball and just take in the Olympic experience. Just can't wait for the big party in Beijing and I am sure the Chinese will continue impressing the world

I am thrilled you are able to experience this first hand. While I may not agree with China's practices, I am so rooting for our Athletes!!! Go USA Go!!!!
