A child can grow frustrated when an obstacle arises in his effort to achieve a goal. Frustration can prove a valuable emotion, however: It can motivate a child to surmount the obstacle with an extra spurt of determination and initiative. Frustration can also lead to anger and despair, however. If involved in a physical activity, a frustrated child can become tense, even explosive.
