Kung fu stances are the basis for every attack and every defense. They are the base upon which you will build your striking and blocking skills, so it is very important to practice stances often and correctly. Stances help to build solid maneuverability and critical strength for the techniques commonly used in kung fu. Some stances are used primarily for striking, some for defending. Some stances are used as transition stances and some are used mostly to build strength.
