Lance Armstrong Rides in L.A.'s Griffith Park

If he tweets ... they will come. And that is what people did this morning in response to Lance Armstrong's tweet about riding in Griffith Park.

Hundreds of people turned out this morning to ride for an hour alongside seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong in Griffith Park.

Armstrong arrived at the parking lot a few minutes after 7:30 a.m. and was surrounded by cyclists hoping for autographs and a handshake, and news crews hoping to catch the athlete on camera before he sped off.

Armstrong led the group through three loops around a section of the park. Not everyone at Griffith Park knew what was happening. As the cyclists went by and photographers positioned themselves along the route, onlookers wondered about the commotion.

Lance,

Thanks for coming out to Los Angeles! It was a real treat to ride with a champion and person who has leads the fight against cancer to a global scale with the tireless LAF crew.

I have to tell you that I had a wife that laughed when she seen me get home. The first words out of her mouth were..."Lance said you guys were leaving the bar. Are you sure you were out a bike ride?"

Thanks for a great day and I hope to see you at the 2010 Tour of California. Thanks again for making Sept 10, 2009 such a memorable day for all of us who called in sick. LOL!!!

hello all
i was also at the ride in griffith park and had a wonderful time. we rode three loops around griffith park dr, a six mile circuit with a 750' climb over about a mile and change with a couple short steep 7-8 % grades mixed in. i was probably riding the oldest bike in the group, a circa 70s ernie clements falcon with wonderful lugs and 531 steel. got some nice comments during the ride.
funny cause since the tdf i have been hitting the spot regularly just never really thought i would be riding it with lance. that was golden.
thanks lance, for coming through like that, it was great.

wow, this is awesome.

I wish more athletes would draw upon Lance's example and make themselves a bit more transparent to their adorning public!
I read that last little bit about Montreal, and boy I really wish Lance would join for the legendary DONUT ride, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
