It comes natural with Lance; he has passed me several times on Bee Caves Road in Austin and has always had a friendly greeting to offer. As opposed to some of the elitist riders who pass by and act as though you are invisible. Once he slowed to my pace for about 50 yards before powering away up a hill and out of site. I get that he's a nice guy.

Our son (aged 5 1/2) is training for his first duathlon (2 mile run, 5.6 mile bike, I think it is). This gives us some ideas... My hubby and I both run, so we should do this as a family when our daughter is old enough, too. Lance, are you getting your kids into triathlons and biking? What great inspiration Liam and his father have provided doing the tour climbs, and of course, inspiration for all from Lance! We were there in 2001 when he took the day (and took control of the tour) on Alpe d'Huez! What a memory that was, and what a memory for young Liam seeing his idol on a climb. Go Lance, and go Liam!

A small world indeed! I watched this video last Thursday (2nd July) before flying to Nice for the weekend to see Lance do what he does best in Monaco (and top up on original Livestrong wrist bands), and who should I bump into on the train back to Nice after the Time Trials on Saturday but Bill and the now famous Liam! It was an absolute pleasure meeting and talking to these guys. Bill and Liam are following the Tour and raising Cancer awareness. Including Lance, the three of you are an inspiration to the rest of us. Check out their website and follow their progress as I am on: www.fathersontour.com. If you get to read this, great to meet you guys and thanks for taking time out to speak to a complete stranger on the platform at Nice Ville! Best wishes Dean
