You'll be in the yellow jersey soon!
by Vlad-The-Biker on July 7, 2009 at 1:34 PM
Great ride Lance. Sorry you didn't get Yellow. Saw whole live coverage of stage and Boy that was a stage and a half.
Being a Brit however - I was wishing for Bradley to take Yellow.
Hey Lance - lets have some of the Brits on your Video now. We have 2 in top 10 and Cav in Green.
Keep on riding hard.
by yonseo on July 7, 2009 at 1:35 PM

by Plochman on July 7, 2009 at 2:26 PM
The seatbelt thing is more about those who love you as well as your own personal saftey. Always wear you seat belt Lance !
by festerbiker on July 7, 2009 at 2:32 PM
Great - nay - stunning ride from team Astana today. Well done Lance. Saw you and Ben having fun on Eurosport tonight. Great to get an insight to what it is like behind the scenes.
Like Vlad, I'm also pleased to see two Brits in the top 10 currently. I hope this little island can have a few more bike stars.
by anamauru on July 7, 2009 at 2:40 PM
You'r simply THE BEST!
by VeloChef on July 7, 2009 at 2:40 PM
Remarkable idea --> every time you want to send a message to the detractors, especially after an event like today, wear a hat or a pin of an apple, as in "how do you you like them apples". It'll be a little secret code to the schmegmas out there. Certainly give the press something to buzz about...not a bad idea. Tell em to _____ off without saying a word.
Finally .. visit optibike dotcom for the fastest electric bike in the world. Almost Lance-fast.

Looked like a tough course today. Glad everyone made it through without trouble. Good one on you for listening to feed back and wearing your seat belt :D
by synergy24 on July 7, 2009 at 2:54 PM
Hey Lance, great analysis! Ok,now that you wearing the belt, let's go for a yellow one with.... yeah.. livestrong across it. @petersgt3
by Dozer785 on July 7, 2009 at 2:58 PM
Great job today Lance! I would like to say that your a great inspiration to me! I've served in the Army Rangers for 8 years and been in a lot of crap, But nothing equals what you have done and been through and just wanted to say Thank you and Good luck my friend! By the way I watched the TTT today and your team had me standing and cheering the whole time. Great Job!!!
by swiyper on July 7, 2009 at 3:01 PM
The POst TTT is a success congratulations to the team !! BUT I'm not buying that official time posted by the TDF organizer.
That 40 sec with Cancellara with a tenths to hundredths difference is a baloney... I hope they'll show the the time and video you at fifth place crossing the line. I'm not letting go on this...... If Johan can dispute this technicality.
by Schmiddy1533 on July 7, 2009 at 3:05 PM
Great ride today for you and the team! Hope you guys keep it up and continue success!
by bikerebel on July 7, 2009 at 3:12 PM

by imrn2007 on July 7, 2009 at 3:15 PM
Wasn't me, but good for you putting the seatbelt on, safety first.
We have plenty of time to get that yellow jersey, we all know how you ride. Welcome back BTW.
I am excited about the race tomorrow, have the DVR set to record JIC I don't get this sick body out of bed on time. Fever? What fever? Didn't keep me from riding the stationary today. Hopefully not tomorrow either.
Good luck tomorrow and know we are all here for you. TWITTER on and LIVESTRONG!!! We love you all. GO TEAM ASTANA!!
by kkeyer on July 7, 2009 at 3:15 PM
Tell Paul and Phil (and Versus) thanks for the wonderful coverage they do for team Astana. The reason everyone was out of their seat watching on TV is from the enthusiasm they give while commentating.
by remepro on July 7, 2009 at 3:17 PM
Congrats Lance! You and your team did very well today in the extreme heat! We are following you very close, see pictures of yourself, Astana and Le Tour at http://www.letourfotoside.nl and follow us at twitter.com/remepro_nl
See ya tomorrow in Cap d'Agde and Perpignan, GOOD LUCK!!

best of luck lance you are the greatest athlete ever stay safe and stay strong xx
by VeloqX on July 7, 2009 at 3:23 PM
These Astana jerseys confuse me. The other guys in the team are wearing one with a different design.
by CullipS on July 7, 2009 at 3:23 PM
The tour is so exciting. I'm so glad you are back, it just wasn't the same without you. Yesterday was so exciting and tense the last 10k. Go for #8, know you can do it!!!!!!
by MaggiesPlace on July 7, 2009 at 3:27 PM
What a remarkable display of teamwork today. It's so exciting to watch such a superb group of talents, and especially wonderful to see you back in the Tour. Leave the naysayers in the dust, and we'll be cheering you on from over the pond.
by cadyer on July 7, 2009 at 3:35 PM
Cancellara is just keeping it warm for you buddy.....bring on the hills!!
by lancesgirl55 on July 7, 2009 at 3:38 PM
Great ride Team Astana! Go! Go! Go! I believe in all of you. I am so stoked by the overall classifications. Astana 2, 3, 4 and 5, did anyone see that coming? Personally, I've been cheering Lance from way back in the day. Just keep it up. Keep going strong!!
by benno1311 on July 7, 2009 at 3:48 PM
Great TTT. I enjoyed watching the ritm of you're team. Still I think the yellow looks beter on your shoulders than that Swiss guy. ;-)
Greetings from the Netherlands. (by the way: great move on Mart Smeets about you on Twitter. Really made me laugh. @benno1311)
by noebanegas on July 7, 2009 at 3:51 PM

I wiil see you tomorrow on tv!

by RRROBERSON on July 7, 2009 at 4:02 PM
Great Day!! What a team.....keep up the great riding.... That yellow jersey is YOURS. BE STRONG :)
Ben is so funny!!! Tights, please. HA.
Max, you are so cute and must be so proud of your Dad.
Have a great day tomorrow.
by SurferT on July 7, 2009 at 4:24 PM
An epic day--I now see no reason for Astana to not take all three steps of the podium in Paris. You're not saying so now, but I suspect you're happier in second (especially to Cancellara) than in yellow tomorrow-- let the boys rest a bit before the mountains.
Now that you've got the seatbealt wired, you might try a bit of sunscreen...
by roadcomet on July 7, 2009 at 4:26 PM
Thanks for the update Lance. And thanks for keeping focused on the big picture bro. Your leadership is awesome to witness. My family and I keep praying and know you'll keep rolling. @roadcomet

Yeah TEAM! Today LA looks plenty like max...those eyes...it's too funny! (and Stiller---can we say...comic relief is a daily need?) Be a safety dude...all the way around! Rock it--and keep it rollin'!
by greggtc on July 7, 2009 at 4:54 PM
Exciting Stage 4 team time trial. Unbelieveable. The Team FABULOUS... so exciting.
by greggtc on July 7, 2009 at 5:01 PM
Lance, you are putting the Tour back in the news. Maybe not having to defend the yellow jersey tomorrow is a good thing. I do admit really wishing for the magic... it would have been the fairy tale finish to the team time trial today but... winning the stage so decisively, quite a feat to be proud of... see you tomorrow.
by 2g2gan on July 7, 2009 at 5:17 PM
Way to go Lance!!
by aiyaya on July 7, 2009 at 5:22 PM
Today could very well be the only chance Lance gets to wear Yellow because he might not have the Legs on the ride to Andorra in stage 7...
by jitenshakun on July 7, 2009 at 5:30 PM
What a great stage. Its time to get off the sofa and go for a ride!
Keep it up Lance!
by tintin27 on July 7, 2009 at 6:06 PM
Well done from Adelaide !!!!!
Fantastic job today...I watched the whole thing :-)
Now im under my desk having a nap ...
by glennrobinson68 on July 7, 2009 at 6:18 PM
Yes Lance i did notice the road got pot-holey for only the sections AC was at the front. Like Stage 3, maybe he's not comfy at the front? There is only one boss of the peloton. I never doubted for a second.
by honoluludon on July 7, 2009 at 6:18 PM
lance is giving a clinic on how to compete intelligently. he reminds me of tiger woods when he is in the hunt. he seldom makes a mistake. whether or not lance wins TDF this year, he's made it one for the ages that will have millions of people glued to their tvs.
by lesstomore on July 7, 2009 at 6:20 PM

Congrats, Lance and Team Astana and LIVESTRONG. Another win for Lance, the team, and the cause! ALLEZ!!
by egandras on July 7, 2009 at 8:19 PM
Well Maiden before the TTT makes sense - hopefully the new stuff.
Try some new Dream Theater for the mountains - that should get the heart pumping!
Watching today feels like in 1999 when nobody gave you a chance and you MADE them pay attention and give RESPECT. STRONG STRONG STRONG. We survivors are flying on your bike with you (my 20th year in survivorship). The message you are sending is so powerful - just KEEP MOVING FORWARD. Cancer does not have to diminish you as a person - it can actually make you STRONGER and FORMIDABLE. YOU will definitely be glaring back at those you pass in the mountains, like the days of old. Great to see it once again -

Congrats Lance from M?co!! you really are making history again.
by marco79 on July 7, 2009 at 11:17 PM
great ride yesterday, the yellow jersey will be your at andorra arcalis!
lance you are incredible, after 4 years ago you are riding better than riders sastre, evans, menchov etc...you are the best go lance!
by denisjouglard on July 7, 2009 at 11:41 PM
You are in the best position,Saxo Bank still have to work hard and spend energy to protect the yellow jersey, all the cartridge they will burn will cost them when it will time to help andy Schleck.
This start of the tour has been great for the fans,we will prefer an overall win than the yellow for two days for history and PR.Maillot jaune in grand Bornand and up to Paris this is what we all need.
Keep up the the pace with Alberto(tuff),and remember the good old days, loosing is not an option.
This is why we all believe in you on and off the bike.
by jennylappin on July 8, 2009 at 12:04 AM
good luck for today!
by action_hero on July 8, 2009 at 12:20 AM
Great achievement in the TTT. Everything ran smoothly, Lance was great and strong again and also the whole Astana team with Johan Bruyneel. I think no reason to be disapointed Lance. I was in heaven again today, to see my idol and the mental power he gives to the people who have unfortunately cancer. People who give criticism, they have no sense what kind of mental support he gives to fight further against cancer. Lance and the team and his foundation are fantastic and an example for many people ... yellow yersey or not, Lance won anyway and that means a lot !
by Justpreethi on July 8, 2009 at 1:36 AM
You did great Lance! I hope to see you in yellow soon!
by Bissnz on July 8, 2009 at 1:42 AM

Let us all promote and support the cause... Livestrong.org for ever.
by SunnyMind on July 8, 2009 at 4:55 AM
Congratulations!!!
So good to see you back on the podium!
Great instinct in stage three! Haven't seen it live, and first couldn't imagine how you could have managed to climb to 3rd place on a relatively flat course. Just great!
I felt so sorry for you missing the yellow jersey.
Well, apparently every hundreths of a second counts ;-)
Anyway beeing a fair sports I'd say Cancellara did a great job pulling in front of his team and so he deserved to keep it another day.
Probably your team can safe some energy not having to defend the yellow jersey today. ...
All in all, regarding the unusual TTT-course and the number of crashes, I was extremly relieved, when your team crossed the finsih line safe and sound!
Great performance!
Good Luck towards and in the Pyrenees!
by fanjosi on July 8, 2009 at 6:00 AM
great stage, great race, great lance. I am sure that you will get the yellow trikot soon. and win some stages in the mountains....go for yellow lance!!!!!

Seat belts that was funny, Stiller on you TT machine, that I couldn't believe. You are "Chillin' Out", you are an impressive man. The plan is working out just the way you expected, right ? Super Strong team, keep the pedals turning.
by CarrieSS on July 8, 2009 at 1:05 PM
I noticed the no belt right off but didn't comment but obviously many did! Noticed you had it on first thing on this post and had to laugh when you mentioned it. It looks good on you but I think you should try wearing ONLY a seatbelt. That would look best!

I hung my "Hope Rides Again" Lance poster I got at the Tour de California today at my healthcare IT office. Everyone who enters the office now has a big photo of Lance with sheer grit and will and power etched into his face. Riding for hope. As an informatics nurse working with oncologists and oncology nurses, the thrill of Lance in the Tour de France is gigantic!
