Dear Lance, why did you at first attack today at the beginning of first climb and than not pull it tru? Did Johan call you back? Or did you change your mind cause you did not feel strong enough? I hope that your day to win will come in the alps.

little tuscaloosa alabama is watching the tour--i studied in Annecy in the summer of 1978 and will be excited to watch the 18th stage--my nephew and his wife, Mark and GIna SImpson, who own a neat bike shop, Velocity, here in TUscaloosa, have been sponsoring the TOur de TUscaloosa for the past 3 years and it has grown in ridership every year--they are fans for sure--My daughter, Gina, who is studying in Cannes made it to your kick off in Monaco last weekend--she was so excited at your departure from the casino--she woke me up with her phone call saying "Mom, i just saw them take off!! "--she is buying Tour souvenirs--Lance, maybe you could come to the Tour de Tuscaloosa one day, to add notoriety to TUscaloosa for another kind of sport, since it is already famous for College football--Cycling would be great to add to its fame--get that yellow jersey and smile in Paris--donalee

Hi Lance,
First of all \"Happy Father\'s Day\"! I am currently living in Montevideo, Uruguay and today is Father\'s Day. As one of the many arm-chair quarterbacks I keep thinking about the method to the madness. I came up with a conclusion; keep training and keep getting stronger both physically and mentally. Enjoy the rest of the tour!
by action_hero on July 12, 2009 at 10:55 AM
Much admiration Lance to remember your teammate Fabio Casartelli ... it\'s so many years ago but you are so a nice person who\'s thinking back on that person. Great ride today Lance ... I think and I see that you become better and better. Up to the next stages and of course the yellow jersey. And also I see that your teammates want nothing else. They supporting and want you !!! And me too !!! Go lance ... and have a good rest day tomorrow
by VickiePM on July 12, 2009 at 11:01 AM
While visiting France last month, I told someone I wasn\'t sure you wanted to win an 8th Tour but that I expected you to win the climb up Mont Ventoux. Now I\'m thinking both. When it comes to the showdown between you and Contador, I\'m pretty sure I know who the team will support. And if the ultimate yellow jersey goes to the person with the biggest heart and most class, you\'ll will hands down. From Texas, hook \'em, Lance!
by Botcharov on July 12, 2009 at 11:02 AM
I was 9 years old when I was on a holiday trip in France. My dad bought an newspaper and told me about the death of Fabio Casartelli. I was shocked, although I did not know him. It was that moment I became interested in cycling and that I followed your progress. A couple of years later I bought an dvd with that emotional stage. It will always be written in my memory.
By now thanks for all what you and your foundation have done for people with cancer. You are truly a great sportsman. Keep it up and take care!
Greets,
Marc

Hi, Lance.
I have been a hugh fan of yours since you won in Oslo. Im Norwegian so it was hard to accept an American won in my own homecountry. Today you showed what hugh team spirit you have when you pulled in on of the outbreak groups today more or less alone. It shows that as always you put the team first and that you are willing to take your share of the work. A lot of young riders have something to learn and someone to look up to. Best wishes from Kurt Robert

A few months ago, a great friend of ours gave you a blue \"Josh\" bracelet in downtown Austin. We lost our 12-year old son, Josh, in 2005 to complications of cancer treatment not long after the three of us cheered you to victory in your 7th Tour de France win. You were Josh\'s inspiration and his role model in life as he was waging his battle. Like the bracelet says, \"I get knocked down, but I get up again.\" Congratulations on your return to the Tour and a sincere thank you for your passion to lead an even greater race. Livestrong!!!

Lance, for myself and many other cancer survivors we often mark our years of survivorship by your epoch rides in the TDF. Weather you win or loose...remember...we, like you, do more than survive. Your efforts inspire us to hope, thrive, love, compete, contribute...thanks for the inspiration.

I have read all of your books and followed your career consistently. I believe you can win this tour...and smash Alberto Contador (team mate or not)...LIVESTRONG Lance....and remember.....you have massive support ALL over the world.......we love you!!!!!!!
by speedoflite1 on July 12, 2009 at 9:46 PM
In memory of Fabio~
Lance, to call you a \"class guy,\" would be an understatement.
From Motorola to Astana/Mellow Johnny/Livestrong, you\'ve proven to be much more than a so-called, \"brash\" \"cocky\" \"crazy kid\" from Texas who wins bike races.
In June \'93 at CoreStates/First Union USPRO Championships, before ten of thousands, myself included, you broke away on the final climb up Manayunk Wall (very steep) towards a solo win (Motorola assisted). It was the final leg of the Thrift Drug Triple Crown of Cycling, for which you and your Team won a million dollars. Post-race, I recall you saying,(to paraphrase): \"we\'re gonna be kicking butt and taking names\" in July. Well, you won 2 stages that year, your first TDF, against the likes of Indurain, Tony Rominger and the other world\'s best.
Foward, 2009, you\'ve got a good shot to win #8. Regardless, you already inspire millions around the world in the fight against cancer. Better yet, you appear to be having the most fun doing so, on and off the bike.
Well done Lance. Well done!

I have been watching the stages from the beginning of the Tour and I saw determination, power, will, concentration and discipline in every Km\'s that Lance ride. He\'s a great cyclist and champion. He know what to do in each stage. Let\'s wait and support him. He took a break and then he came back. Check the overall results. The seven times Tour de France Champion is there. Nobody can overlook that!! And he won the stronger race, Cancer! Keep going Lance, you already won!!!

A devoted fan in France from your very first tour - am sure you will win this one too, but it\'s just great to see you ride and hear your comments
anyway.
Now for someone who has been around France and even lived in Spain you should know the locals don\'t have much of a sense of humour. The thing with the leg photos for your team mate was a bit mean, admit it !!
