Chris, you are not 100% correct in what you say that it is a 7% constant gradient.. it is actualy 4% for the first 4Km and then goes to between 9 and 11% for 10km which is the hardest part, then drops to 7% at the end with a peak at 12% the last 200yards....an average cyclist will climb it in 2h to 2h20, a good cyclist will do it in 1h40 to 2H and good top club level cyclist will climb it in 1h20 to 1h35.. the pros do it in sub 1H

Truely amazing to witness. Champions are made here during the TdF. Hopefully one day i can experience cycling to the summit of Mont Ventoux. Great piece Chris.

Amazing and pectacular, but I love Mont Ventoux.
Great video and thanks for your gift at the cyclist monument Chris. I hope that Contador win the stage 20 and Lance can to obten the 3th place in the podium at the end of the tour. I pray for both, tahnks and good lucky for all.

Congratulations to Lance and Livestrong on the best TdF since...2005. Fair to say, "mission accomplished." The whole Tour is Yellow and Black. Livestrong is everywhere--Go Chalkbot! Lance showing what 'make a difference' means every single stage. Interest and support for cycling is re-energized. The Cancer Awareness message [FIGHT IT] is loud and clear and reaching audiences around the world in a way not seen: galvanized, organized and STRONG.
Lance took on this crusade and has never stopped from the moment his doctors said "you might not make it". Every member of LiveSTRONG is testament to the fact, as Lance says over and over again, "it's not about me. It's about beating this disease." He's taken seven TdF championships and turned them into his biggest success ever. I will remember the 2009 Tour as his crowning achievement.

Having ridden this on a bike back in the '90's and driven it in a French car (first time in automatic and right hand drive) to support a Paraglyder off the top I can vouch this is one heck of a stange and compelling mountain. Lance you are a real hero. I am now a 65 years old woman and still dream of doing it all over again!

Lance did amazing again today on the stage , iam glad he still third ! go Lance by the way he heard some american seeing that french doesnt like Lance , it is not true they love him and know that he is the best !

I watched the race on Saturday from about 19 km below the summit, after we drove up for the sunset.... i am still in awe of the hill, climb, and epic journey to the top. lance and all other racers are amazing to defeat this hill!!!! LIVESTRONG!!!
